  • This paper discusses how steel cord and PVA hybrid fibers enhance the performance of high performance fiber reinforced cementitious composites (HPRFCC) in terms of elastic limit, strain hardening response and post peak of the composites. The effect of microfiber(PVA) blending ratio is presented. For this purpose flexure, direct tension and split tension tests were conducted. It was found that HFRCC specimen shows multiple cracking in the area subjected to the greatest bending tensile stress. Uniaxial tensile test confirms the range of tensile strain capacity from 0.5 to $1.5\%$ when hybrid fiber is used. The cyclic loading test results identified a unique unloading and reloading response for this ductile composite. Cyclic loading in tension appears not to affect the tensile response of the material if the uniaxial compressive strength during loading is not exceeded.

  • This paper is experimental study of machining characteristics about martensitic heat resisting steel STR11. Machining characteristics are different according to internal quality(chemical compositions, microscopic structure and nonmetallic inclusion) mechanical properties(tensile strength value impact value and hardness) and dynamic cutting force. Following are the results : 1. In analyzing internal quality test materials have typical martensite structure and a minute needle-shaped structure. 2. Tensile strength and reduction of area and hardness are larger. But values of elongation and impact values are smaller. Fracture surface of tensile specimen is ductile. 3, Cutting force is decreasing with cutting speed increasing 4. Cutting force is increasing with feed speed increasing.

  • A series of tensile tests have been performed to investigate the hardening behavior of rolled steel sheets. Tensile tests consist of three stages. At the 1st stage, full size tensile specimens were prestrained in the direction of rolling, then mid-sized tensile specimens were cut from the gauge sections of the full size specimens at angles to the rolling direction. At the 2nd stage, mid-sized specimens were prestrained by predetermined magnitudes of strains and miniature tensile specimens were prepared from each of the mid-sized specimens at every 10 degrees. At the final stage, from tests on miniature tensile specimens the hardening behavior of the prestrained sheets has been investigated. According to the experimental results, orthotropic symmetry is reserved during tensile elongation, and one of the orthotropy axes is continuously rotated to specimen axis. Existing theories seem to fail to explain the rotation of orthotropy axis. A new phenomenological model is proposed to explain the strain induced rotation of orthotropy axes.

  • In this research, a basis test on steel fiber concrete's material property was carried out and optimum design as well as material property was examined. In corroboration of it, the compressive strength was compared with the tensile strength and this paper tried to get the initial load of flexural cracking and the ultimate load in the positive-negative moment section through the static test of beam. The addition rate of the steel fiber, 0.75 SFRC specimen was failed at $65{\sim}75%$ of the static ultimate strength and it could be concluded that fatigue strength to two million cycle was around 75.2%.

  • Since the concrete strength around the reinforcement rebar affects the tension stiffening, the tension stiffening effect of ultra high performance concrete on the concrete members reinforced by steel rebar is examined by testing the specimens with circular cross section with the length 850 mm reinforced by a steel rebar at the center of a specimen's cross section in this research. Conducting a tensile test on the specimens, the cracking behavior is evaluated and a curve with an exponential descending branch is obtained to explain the post-cracking zone. In addition, this paper proposes an equation for this branch and parameters of equation is obtained based on the ratio of cover thickness to rebar diameter (c/d) and reinforcement percentage (${\rho}$).

  • A study on corrosion and adhesion properties of evaporated Zn-Cr films were conducted on steel strip by two-source evaporater. Corrosion resistance of Zn-Cr coated steel was evaluated by salt spray test in 5% NaCl. Adhesion property of Zn-Cr films on steel substrate was evaluated by tape test after $180^\circC$ bending. Adhesion was improved with increasing the Cr content and reached the maximum at the Cr content of 6 to 8wt%. Corrosion resistance was enhanced with increasing the Cr content and improved by rolling Zn-Cr coated specimen, as a post-treatment.

  • Fatigue behavior of shear joints between the combined reinforced concrete(RC) and the reinforced steel fiber concrete(SFRC) specimens has been experimentally investigated. Experimental parameters used are the amount of steel fiber and the type of shear joint. Six specimens have been tested under static load, and eight specimens have been subjected to the fatigue load in a range of 50 % and 5 % of the ultimate static load. The purpose of this research is to propose an empirical formula for fatigue shear behavior of the combined RC and SFRC structures on the basis of experimental result. It can be observed from experimental results that addition of steel fibers to concrete specimen increases the static ultimate load by approximately 25 %, enhances the fatigue behavior, and also reduces vertical and lateral displacements at the shear joint for a given load cycle after the occurrence of first crack.

  • This study presents the fracture properties of steel fiber concrete. The volume ratio of steel fiber in the concrete specimen was changed from 0%, 0.5%, 0.75%, and to 1%. The notch length was changed from 0, 15, 30, to 45mm. By applying 3-point bending tests, J-integral($J_{Ic}$), $K_{Ic}$, $G_F$ deflection strength, and fracture energy was obtained. The test results showed that the fiber content increases the concrete fracture energy.

  • Monotonic torsional and pure torsional low cycle fatigue(LCF) test with artificial degradation were performed on duplex stainless steel(CF8M). CF8M is used in pipes and valves in nuclear reactor coolant system. It was aged at 430$^{\circ}C$ for 3600hrs. Through the monotonic and LCF test, it is found that mechanical properties(i.e., yield strength, strain hardening exponent, strength coefficient etc.) increase and fatigue life(N$\sub$f/) decreases with degradation of material. The relationship between shear strain amplitude(${\gamma}$$\sub$a/)and N$\sub$f/ was proposed.

  • Ultrasonic method using SH(shear horizontal) wave has been developed to determine the surface damage in fatigued material. Fatigue damages based on propagation energy were analyzed by multiregression analysis and phase measurement in interrupted fatigue test specimen including CrMoV and 12Cr alloy steel. From the test results, as the fatigue damage increased the propagation time of the launched waves increased and amplitude of wavelet decreased. Also, analysis for the waveform modulation showed a reliable estimation, with confidence limit of 97% for 12Cr steel and 95% for CrMoV steel, respectively. Therefore, It is thought that SH ultrasonic wave technique can be applied to determine fatigue damage of in-service component nondestructively.
