  • In this note, the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy-model-based state estimator using standard Kalman filter theory is investigated. In that case, the dynamic system model is represented the T-S fuzzy model with the fuzzy state estimation. The steady state solutions can be found for proposed modeling method and dynamic system for maneuvering targets can be approximated as locally linear system. And then, modeled filter is corrected by the fuzzy gain which is a fuzzy system using the relation between the filter residual and its variation. This paper studies the T-S fuzzy model-based state estimator which the dynamic system can be approximated as linear system.

  • The deployment of multicast communication services in the internet is expected to lead a stable packet transfer even in heavy traffic as in network system environment. The core based tree scheme among many multicast protocols is the most popular and suggested recently. However, CBT exhibit two major deficiencies such as traffic concentration or poor core placement problem. so, measuring the bottleneck link bandwidth along a path is important for understanding th performance of multicast. We propose not only a definition of CBT's core link state that Steady-State, Normal-State and Bottleneck State according to the estimation link speed rate, but also the changeover of multicast routing scheme for traffic overload. In addition, we introduce anycast routing tree, a efficient architecture for construst shard multicast trees.

  • In the operation of a power system, the security of the system has acquired significant importance to supply electric power of better quality. The State Estimator, a part of security functions, provides a complete real time solution estimate of the steady-state conditions of the power system for use by the Real Time Network Analysis functions. This paper briefly introduces the Fast Decoupled Weighted Least Square State Estimator which is adopted in the KEPCO EMS with features of Man-Machine Interface.

  • In this paper, a novel rotor flux estimation method of an induction motor using support vector machine(SVM) is presented. Two veil-known different flux models with respect to voltage and current are necessary to estimate the rotor flux of an induction motor. The theory of the SVM algorithm is based on statistical teaming theory. Training of SVH leads to a quadratic programming(QP) problem. The proposed SVM rotor flux estimator guarantees the improvement of performance in the transient and steady state in spite of parameter variation circumstance. The validity and the usefulness of Proposed algorithm are throughly verified through numerical simulation.

  • A nonlinear engine torque and speed control algorithm using throttle angle control is developed with an engine load torque estimation algorithm. Three 3-dimensional nonlinear engine maps as a part of the nonlinear control algorithm are obtained from steady state engine dynamometer tests. An electric throttle actuator is developed using a stepper motor and a 8 bit micro-processor. The speed control and external load estimation algorithm are tested via engine speed control experiments, and show performance good enough for using various engine torque and speed control applications.

  • This paper proposes a parameter estimation technique of a power transformer. Based on the combined equation, it estimates separately the primary and secondary leakage inductances using the least square method from the instantaneous voltages and currents in the steady state. The performance of the proposed technique was investigated by varying the cut-off frequency of the filter and the number of samples per cycle. The estimated values are obtained based on the average value for 41 cycle.

  • To avoid the use of position sensor or flux sensor in a field oriented induction machine drive system, the terminal quantities are often used to estimate the rotor flux. Since the estimation involves the leakage inductance of the machine, the performance of such systems is sensitive to the variations of leakage. Since estimation of the stator flux is independent of the leakage, the steady state performance of the stator flux oriented system is insensitive to the leakage inductance. In this paper, the torque response of stator flux oriented system is compared to that of rotor flux oriented system by digital simulation. And induction motor sensor less speed control by stator flux oriented method is developed. The performance of the speed estimation is showed by digital simulation.

  • The well-conditioned observer in a stochastic system is designed so that the observer is less sensitive to the ill-conditioning factors in transient and steady-state observer performance. These factors include not only deterministic issues such as unknown initial estimation error, round-off error, modeling error and sensing bias, but also stochastic issues such as disturbance and sensor noise. In deterministic perspectives, a small value in the L$_2$ norm condition number of the observer eigenvector matrix guarantees robust estimation performance to the deterministic issues and its upper bound can be minimized by reducing the observer gain and increasing the decay rate. Both deterministic and stochastic issues are considered as a weighted sum with a LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality) formulation. The gain in the well-conditioned observer is optimally chosen by the optimization technique. Simulation examples are given to evaluate the estimation performance of the proposed observer.

  • In this paper, we investigate the impacts of network topology on the performance of a distributed estimation algorithm, namely combine-then-adaptive (CTA) diffusion LMS, based on the data with or without the assumptions of temporal and spatial independence with noisy links. The study covers different network models, including the regular, small-world, random and scale-free whose the performance is analyzed according to the mean stability, mean-square errors, communication cost (link density) and robustness. Simulation results show that the noisy links do not cause divergence in the networks. Also, among the networks, the scale free network (heterogeneous) has the best performance in the steady state of the mean square deviation (MSD) while the regular is the worst case. The robustness of the networks against the issues like node failure and noisier node conditions is discussed as well as providing some guidelines on the design of a network in real condition such that the qualities of estimations are optimized.

  • This paper proposes an on-line rotor time constant estimation strategy for indirect field oriented induction machines. The performance of the indirect field oriented control is dependent especially on the rotor time constant whose value varies according to the temperature. The proposed method calculates the difference between the nominal rotor time constant and the real value from the d- and q-axis integration terms of a proportional integral (PI) current regulator and the demanded voltages of the induction machine to regulate the current in the steady state. Because the proposed strategy has a simple structure and is available in wide speed and torque ranges, the proposed method can be easily used in the industrial field. The effectiveness of proposed strategy is verified with simulations and a 7.5kW experimental setup.
