Control Strategy of Total Output Power Ripple Cancellation for DFIG in MV Wind Power Systems under Unbalanced Grid Conditions

  • This paper proposes a control strategy of total output power ripple cancellation for both of Machine-Side Converter (MSC) and Grid-Side Converter (GSC) in a DFIG under unbalanced grid conditions. The proposed control strategy for the MSC is the zero torque ripple control algorithm with an enhanced LVRT capability. The control algorithm for the MSC exhibits reduced torque pulsation in steady-state unbalanced grid conditions. In addition, this control algorithm also minimizes a peak value of rotor current in transient unbalanced grid conditions. The total output power ripple cancellation control algorithm is adopted in the GSC. The total output power ripple cancellation is achieved by nullifying the oscillating component of the total output active and reactive power at the summing point of stator and rotor of DFIG. The proposed control strategy for the GSC reduces the output power oscillation leading to the improved quality of wind farms output.

  • A method of flux sensing using tapped winding is described for measuring air gap flux in linear induction motor. This method which utilizes coils of motor itself is neither affected by temperature nor resistive voltage drop due to stator current in the motor coils. So it can measure air gap flux in reliable manner. The tapped wilding method has been implemented in experiment and the result shows that this method can be sufficiently used in direct vector control of linear induction motor.

  • Slotless linear brushless DC motor are widely used in precision machine applications because of their advantages such as low of detent force, negligible iron loss. But they have a disadvantage such as low thrust density, thrust ripple, and excessive use of permanent magnet materials. These lead to undesirable performance and high production cost. In this paper, we deal with the design and characteristics investigation of a air-core tubular linear brushless DC(TLBLDC) motor with air-core stator and permanent magnet mover. And to investigate the static and dynamic characteristics of air-core TLBLDC motor, the prototype machine is manufactured and analyzed by F.E.M. and Matlab simulink simulations. Especially, dynamic characteristics of air-core TLBLDC motor driven with 6 step inverter are simulated by F.E.M.coupling with external circuit and Matlab simulink program, and measured for the prototype motor. The simulation results are compared to the experimental results such as current waves, thrust and speed curve.

  • This paper presents a novel nonlinear speed control strategy for induction motor utilizing exact feedback linearization with states feedback. The speed and flux control loops utilize nonlinear feedback which eliminates the need for tuning, while ordinary proportional-integral controllers are used to control the stator current of d-axis the speed. The control scheme is derived in rotor field coordinates and employs an appropriate estimator for estimation of the rotor flux angle, flux magnitude.

  • This paper introduce the electrical quantities of a three-phase-connected wind induction generator (WIG) under sudden connection of static loads. An intelligent power-system recorder/monitor is employed to measure threephase voltages and currents of the studied system at WIG's terminals and load's terminals for 5 minutes. A laboratory 300 W wound-rotor induction machine driven by a blushless DC motor is utilized as the studied WIG. Since the generated harmonic currents are randomly varied, total harmonic distortion (THD) of current using cumulative probability density function is employed to determine the penetration of harmonic distortion. The results show that the harmonic currents generated by the studied WIG may be severely amplified to a high level by the connected self-excited capacitance at the stator's terminals.

  • This paper presents the system design of high speed linear synchronous machine in the required speed and thrust considering power of inverter. in this paper, the design of manufacturing motor is optimized by characteristics of motor parameters with the variation of coil turns of rotor and stator. And, the dynamic simulation are performed from the (d-q) transformation of the current and voltage and the mechanical dynamic equation composed of the mover mass and damping ratio. Finally, the results of design and analysis are verificated by finite element analysis.

  • Generally a single-phase SRM(switched reluctance motor) has several stator and rotor poles but these are excited by one regulated current at the same time. It has only one inductance variation. It means that the positive torque is only generated in the positive slope of the inductance variation. The single-phase SRM can not be started by itself. The single-phase SRM can be started by itself if the rotor is placed in the positive slope of the inductance variation. Then, the starting device is required to place the rotor in the starting position before start. On this paper, the equation of the force requisite for the starting device is derived using by the frictional force of the rotor

  • This paper proposes a speed sensorless vector control of induction motor using a minimum-order EKF(extended kalman filter). Minimum-order EKF has the advantage of reducing the computational estimation cost because the stator current is not estimated. EKF does not deteriorate the performance of the overall speed control system, even though the measurements are relatively noisy. The estimated rotor speed is used for vector control and overall speed control. Computer simulations of the speed sensorless vector control are carried out to test the usefulness of the minimum-order EKF algorithm.

  • In this paper, a vector control method for a AC-Excited BLSM(Brushless Synchronous Motor) is proposed. The BLSM has a feature that separate exciter is not needed for excitation. The proposed method is described in two parts as follow, one is the design of drive and the other is a modeling for its implementation. Rotor flux is estimated using indirect sensing method based on voltage equation in the synchronously rotation reference frame. And rotor position is calculated from rotor angular velocity and stator current. Through computer simulation results of this proposed system, it is shown that the BLSM drive has a ability of precision torque control from the static and dynamic performance.

  • A 3-DOF actuator which has new principle and very simple structure is proposed. Its principle seems to be similar to conventional electromagnetic actuators, that is, to utilize the relation of control and bias fluxes produced by coils and permanent magnets, respectively, but the coils and permanent magnets of the proposed actuator are fixed in the stator. Such a structure helps to optimally design the actuator for its use. Some experimental and FEM analysis results show the feasibility of the proposed actuator and some characteristics of system that are useful lot structure design and control.
