  • In this paper, we introduce various methods of PR techniques initiated by S. Warner in 1960's and examine the maximum likelihood estimator for them. One of the main subjects of this paper is to represent Warner model, Unrelated Question Model, and Multi-Proportion Model in linear model. The other subject is to study the inference of PR model by using the Bayesian Approach.

  • A Bayesian approach is suggested to the multi-proportions randomized response model. O'Hagan's (1987) Bayes linear estimator is extended to the inference of unrelated question-type randomized response model. Also some numerical comparisons are provided to show the performance of the Bayes linear estimator under the Dirichlet prior.

  • A new method that uses information obtained not only from randomization device but also from direct question is introduced. The new maximum likelihood estimator is compared with those of Warner(1965) and Mangat(l994). For a choice of randomized device, we propose a choice depending on the sample size n and show that our estimator is more efficient than that of Mangat under the randomization device. The proposed procedure is extended to more general one which can be easily applied to some specific cases. Under the specified conditions, it is shown that the variance of this generalized estimator is smaller than that of Warner.

  • The Great Famine may have had a continued impact on the population structure of North Korea even after the crisis subsided ten years ago. However, there is a significant gap between what has been said about the country and what data indicates. This gap seems inevitable mainly because reliable data are seriously lacking and access is restricted for most scholars outside the country. Yet, it is only reasonable to question why most studies have failed to explain the causality between the Great Famine and accumulated changes in the population of North Korea. In this regard, a recent study conducted by Korean demographers (Jeon et al., 2015) have several implications on the importance of accurate and reliable data when the study involves such rare and scarce information. This paper explores the changing trends of the population structure in North Korea providing a review of recent studies on demographic issues associated with North Korea and offers suggestions on understanding the post-famine effect on the overall changes in the population of North Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the applications of Structural Equation Modeling(SEM) into MIS area in recent years. Two methodologies, Lisrel and PLS, are adopted for the method comparison. A research model, based upon TAM(Technology Acceptance Model) is used for the analysis of the data set of a previous study. The research model includes six research variables that are composed of twenty-eight question items. 272 data are used for data analyses through Lisrel v.8.72 and Visual PLS v.1.04. This study shows the statistical results of Lisrel are the same to those of PLS. The contribution of this study can be suggested as the followings; (1) A theoretical comparison of two methodologies is shown, (2) A statistical analysis is done at a real-situated data set, and (3) Several implications are suggested.

  • We suggest two types of misuses to analyze the same survey data. One is related with the fact that people nay use the wrong bounds of error when they compare two proportions. And the other is related with that some non-statisticians are apt to use wrong methods when there is a neutral answer in a question. We suggest these methods and compare them with the statistically good method. It will be a good results in educational purpose.

  • In this paper new results are obtained for multivariate processes which help us to identify weak negative orthant dependent(WNOD) structures among hitting times of the processes. Furthermore, an approach to derive dependence properties among the processes is proposed and a partial solution to the question tat what kinds of the dependence properties, when they are imposed on processes, are reflected as analogous properties of corresponding hitting times is give. Examples are given to illustrate these concepts.

  • In this study, we systemize the theoretical validity for applying RRM to three-stage cluster sampling method and derive the estimate and it's variance of sensitive parameter. We derive the minimum variance form under the optimal values of the subsample sizes when the costs are fixed. Under the some given precision, we obtain the optimal values of the subsample sizes and derive the minimum cost form by using them. We apply the three-stage cluster RRM to field survey and suggest some necessary points for practical use.

  • Economic sentiment is typically measured using ordinary response options. The University of Michigan and the United States Conference Board are two widely used major indexes that have separately established independent consumer sentiment indexes based on three-level ordinary response options: positive, neutral, and negative. Notwithstanding, limited attention has been paid to the structural differences in their built-in formulas, which are referred to the disparate micro scoring schemes applied to an individual question. This paper examines the structural difference of the two indexes and then addresses situations where one is more reliable than the other. Real data from business tendency surveys of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development are used to illustrate our points empirically. As a conclusion, it is stressed that the two indexes should be handled with care when applied to economic sentiment comparison studies.
