In cancer microarray experiments, the experimenter or patient which is nested in each experimenter often shows quite heterogeneous error variability, which should be estimated for identifying a source of variation. Our study describes a Bayesian method which utilizes clinical information for identifying a set of DE genes for the class of subtypes as well as assesses and examines the experimenter effect and patient effect which is nested in each experimenter as a source of variation. We propose a Bayesian multilevel mixed effect model based on analysis of covariance (ANACOVA). The Bayesian multilevel mixed effect model is a combination of the multilevel mixed effect model and the Bayesian hierarchical model, which provides a flexible way of defining a suitable correlation structure among genes.

The strategic industry in Chungbuk province is the electric and electronic related industry. In the Chnugju region, the trend of major industry have change from the electric and electronic related industry to mechanical parts and components related industry include manufacturing of automobile and transportation. In this paper, we perform statistical analysis using the micro data service provided by the Statistics Korea, The CAGR of the number of employee and value-added value in the electric and electronic related industry during past 7 years are -7.1% and -13.2%, respectively while the CAGR in the mechanical parts related industry are 14.4% and 22.9%, respectively. However, value-added value per value of shipment of the mechanical related industry is lower than that of the electric and electronic related industry.

The purpose of the study is to suggest a methodology for properly categorizing the body type of Koreans based on the multivariate statistical analysis. Anthropometric data used in the study were measured from the sampled strata of about fifteen thousand Koreans surveyed through the 5th national anthropometic data measurement project called Size Korea funded by ATS, Korea, during 2003-2004. In order to categorize whole body types, the normalized anthropometric variables, being divided by its stature, were used for obtaining a set of factors that supposedly represent body types through the factor analysis. These factors, which were again clustered, yielded the body types according to the gender. The body types classified are expected to be applied to product design for clothing, furniture, automobile packaging, etc.

This paper is concerned with the stochastic nature of elevated temperature tensile strength and creep rupture time in 18Cr-8Ni stainless steels. The Weibull statistical analysis using the NRIM data sheet has been performed to investigate the effects of variability of the elevated temperature tensile strength and creep rupture time on the testing temperature. From those investigations, the distributions of temperature tensile strength and creep rupture time were well followed in 2-parameter Weibull. The shape parameter and scale parameter for the Weibull distribution of tensile strength were decreased with increasing the testing temperature. For the creep rupture time, generally, the shape parameter were decreased with increasing the testing temperature.

The role of a pavement means a social axis for the future as well as a function of road itself. To achieve its intended purposes, the maintenance technique of the pavement performance should be improved. For this, pavement investigators have dealt with the simulated pavement sites under actual environmental conditions. One of them is wandering device to improve the maintenance system of a pavement. The primary purpose of this research is to develop a portable wandering device using statistical analysis technique. It is noted that the new device using laser sensor demonstrates better field applications and reliability compare to the conventional one.

This Paper analyzed activities of the average time use survey in 1999 and 2004 by Korea National Statistical Office. The survey of National Statistical Office considered general analysis for activities like that personal care(eating), employment and study, leisure, travel by purpose. Change of time of living causes a lot of effects on society whole economy, culture etc., and is used basic data in policy proposal of the country and enterprise's marketing operation establishment. Analysis for average time could look at change in a role of gender, holiday of saturday's enforcement and increasing of temporary post. Using this analysis we can do more developed and analytical sociological study.

Power transformers are the most important facilities in the substation of electrical power, yet they do not have the efficient operating life characteristics which are the important elements of repairing and maintenance in regional conditions. This paper describes the statistical analysis of operating conditions and troubles on transformers for the operating life assessment using Statistical Analysis System programs, Hazard method and Weibull distributions. We analyze transformers in several methods, and compares correlation relationship of operating life and troubles. Therefore, this study will be the useful basic operating life prediction technique of power transformers in the future.

In this paper, we propose a automatic document summarization method based on Principal Component Analysis(PCA) which is one of the multivariate statistical methods. After extracting thematic words using PCA, we select the statements containing the respective extracted thematic words, and make the document summary with them. Experimental results using newspaper articles show that the proposed method is superior to the method using either word frequency or information retrieval thesaurus.

Measurement of Quality of Service (QoS) parameters and its statistical analysis becomes a key issue for Mobile WiMAX service providers to manage the converged network efficiently and to support end-to-end QoS. In this paper, we investigate the population distribution of end-to-end one-way delay which is the most important QoS parameter in Mobile WiMAX networks. The samples are analyzed with Chi-Square Goodness-of-Fit test, Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S), and Anderson-Darling (A-D) test to verify the distribution of parent population. The relation with confidence level and the minimum number of sample size is also performed for logistic distribution. The statistical analysis is a promising approach for measuring the performance Mobile WiMAX networks.

The Statistical Energy Analysis is based on the power flow and the energy conservation between sub-systems, which enable the prediction of acoustic and structural vibration behavior in mid-high frequency ranges. This paper discusses the identification of SEA coupling loss factor parameters from experimental measurements of small reverberation chamber sound pressure levels and structural accelerations. As structural subsystems, steel plates with and without damping treatment are considered. Calculated CLFs were verified by both transmission loss values for air-borne CLF case and running SEA commercial software As a result, CLFs have shown a good agreement with those computed by software. Acoustical behavior of air-borne noise and structure-borne noise has been examined. which shows reasonable results, too.
