  • An HPLC chiral stationary phase (CSP) which has only two ureide functional groups was prepared starting from (1S,2S)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane. The CSP was successful in the resolution of various N-(3,5- dinitrobenzoyl)-α-amino acids, the separation (α) and the resolution factors (RS) being within the range of 1.11-1.35 and 2.19-5.17, respectively with the use of 20% 2-propanol in hexane containing 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid as a mobile phase. However, ethyl esters of N-(3,5-dinitrobenzoyl)-α-amino acids were not resolved or resolved with only marginal separation and resolution factors on the CSP under the identical mobile phase condition. From these results, the complexation of the carboxylate anions of analytes inside the double-ureide pocket of the CSP was expected to play some important role for the chiral recognition. In contrast, N-(3,5- dinitrobenzoyl)-α-amino acid N-propylamides were resolved on the CSP with reasonable separation and resolution factors. Enantioselective hydrogen bonding interactions between analytes and the CSP were presumed to be responsible for these resolutions.

  • We consider an M/PH/1 queue with deterministic impatience time. An exact analytical expression for the stationary distribution of the workload is derived. By modifying the workload process and using Markovian structure of the phase-type distribution for service times, we are able to construct a new Markov process. The stationary distribution of the new Markov process allows us to find the stationary distribution of the workload. By using the stationary distribution of the workload, we obtain performance measures such as the loss probability, the waiting time distribution and the queue size distribution.

  • The function of IRCM(Infrared Countermeasures) jamming is to cause the missile to miss its intended target by disturbing the seeker tracking process. This paper analyzes the jamming effect of IRCM jamming for a stationary reticle seeker. The phase error containing the azimuth angle information of target is analyzed for the intensity, frequency and duty ratio variation of the jammer pulse signal. We confirmed that the more the jammer frequency is similar to the spinning frequency of the stationary seeker, the more jamming effect is high.

  • IBM (Immersed Boundary Method) with feedback momentum forcing was applied to stationary and moving bodies. The capability of IBM to treat the obstacle surfaces, especially with moving effect has been tested for two dimensional problems. Stationary and oscillating cylinders were simulated by using IBM based on finite volume method with Cartesian coordinates. For oscillating cylinder, lateral and vertical motions are considered, respectively. Present results such as time histories of drag and lift coefficients for both stationary and oscillating cases are in good agreement with previous numerical and experimental results. Also, the instantaneous wake patterns of oscillating cylinder with different oscillating frequency ratios well represented those of previous researches. More feasibility study for IBM has been carried out to two oscillating cylinders. Drag and lift coefficients are presented for two cylinders oscillating sinusoidally with phase difference of $180^{\circ}$.

  • This paper presents a grid current control algorithm for a grid connected inverter (GCI) system in a stationary reference frame. When a Proportional Integral (PI) controller at a stationary reference frame is used in a GCI system, steady state error and phase lags are presented because AC signals are controlled at a stationary reference frame. In this paper, a feedforward controller is applied to the PI controller to compensate the steady state error and phase lags by improving command tracking performance. In addition, disturbance rejection control is applied to the PI controller to protect the GCI system by eliminating disturbance, grid voltage in a GCI system, when a grid fault such as line-to-line fault, happens. The proposed GCI current control algorithm is analyzed in a frequency domain and a simulation model of the proposed GCI current control system is developed for verification of the performance.

  • Organic compounds are adsorbed on RO/NF membranes, and the adsorption may influence the rejection of organic compounds by the membranes. Because almost RO/NF membranes are composite membranes, the results obtained by adsorption experiment with using membrane pieces are unable to avoid the influence by the support membrane. In this work, the interaction between membrane polymer and organic solutes was examined by an inverse HPLC methodology. Poly (m-phenylenetrimesoylate), the constituent of skin layer of RO/NF membranes, was coated on silica gel particles and used as a stationary phase for HPLC. When water was used as a mobile phase, almost hydrophilic aliphatic compounds were not effectively adsorbed on the stationary phase, although hydrophobic compounds were slightly adsorbed. The results indicated that the hydrophilic aliphatic compounds are useful probe solutes to examine the molecular sieving effect of a membrane. When water was used as a mobile phase, the aromatic compounds were strongly retained, and therefore $CH_3CN/H_2O$ (30/70) was used as a mobile phase. It was revealed that the adsorption of aromatic compounds was controlled by stacking between solute and polymer and was hindered by non-planar structure and substituents.
