We present spatial and chemical distributions of Carbon-Enhanced Metal-Poor (CEMP) stars in the Milky Way's halo, as observed by the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS). Although the BOSS was designed to obtain spectra of galaxies and quasars, it also observed numerous metal-poor main-sequence turnoff stars for the purpose of flux calibration. The stars observed in the BOSS are two magnitudes fainter (15.5 < g < 19.2) than those in the legacy SDSS, thus it is an extremely useful sample to probe the distant halo. Using effective temperatures, surface gravities, [Fe/H], and [C/Fe] derived for these stars by the SEGUE Stellar Parameter Pipeline (SSPP), we investigate the spatial distribution of [Fe/H] and [C/Fe], the distribution of [C/Fe], and frequency of CEMP stars among these stars. These tools enable characterization of the origin of the halo and its initial mass function.
Kepler mission is performing the quantitative and qualitative observations. Hence, it is possible to statistically study, which is called 'Ensemble asteroseismology', about seismic properties. They investigated about global oscillation parameters. In this study, we performed statistically study about global seismic parameters with Kepler data. Relation between global oscillation parameters (${\Delta}{\nu}$ and ${\nu}max$) are approximately confirmed. We investigated newly about distribution of Full-With-at-Half-Maximum (FWHM) and relation between FWHM and other global oscillation parameters.
We collect 24 times of light maxima data from sources in the literature, unpublished data and open databases, and investigate the variations of the observed and calculated (O-C) values for light maxima of V1719 Cyg. We found no evidence of the variations in the (O-C) values. We estimate the effective temperature and surface gravity using both the Kurucz and MARCS/SSG grids for different metallicity values [A/H]=0.0 and +0.5 for V1719 Cyg. It is confirmed that the temperature is almost the same, but, in the case of surface gravity, the MARCS/SSG grid gives the value closest to that obtained from the period-gravity relation derived by using the pulsation-evolution theory. We obtain two spectra of V1719 Cyg from spectroscopic observation which permitted us to find the effective temperature and the surface gravity of the star directly. We estimate the metallicity and it is found that the abundance of iron is equal to the solar value.

WFIRST microlensing observations will return high-precision parallaxes, σ(π) . 0.3 µas, for the roughly 1 million stars with H < 14 in its 2.8 deg2 field toward the Galactic bulge. Combined with its 40,000 epochs of high precision photometry (∼ 0.7 mmag at Hvega = 14 and ∼ 0.1 mmag at H = 8), this will yield a wealth of asteroseismic data of giant stars, primarily in the Galactic bulge but includindvvvvvg a substantial fraction of disk stars at all Galactocentric radii interior to the Sun. For brighter stars, the astrometric data will yield an external check on the radii derived from the two asteroseismic parameters, the large-frequency separation <∆νnl> and the frequency of maximum oscillation power νmax, while for the fainter ones, it will enable a mass measurement from the single measurable asteroseismic parameter νmax. Simulations based on Kepler data indicate that WFIRST will be capable of detecting oscillations in stars from slightly less luminous than the red clump to the tip of the red giant branch, yielding roughly 1 million detections.
The general properties of the NCBs, divided into A and F types according to their spectral types, have been presented. The evolutionary status of the F type near-contact binaries are closer to that of the contact systems, i.e., W UMa type binaries, if it is assumed that the evolution of the NCBs is governed by the thermal relaxation oscillation theory. The mass-radius relation, mass-luminosity relation and H-R diagram of the NCBs provide that the A type NCBs suffer from more active mass transfer than F types. The components of the NCBs ar still in main-sequence like W UMa type stars and their two components lines parallel to the ZAMS.
We investigate ${\rho}$ Pup using the high resolution spectral observations taken from the VLT archive and observations at a 1.8m-Korean telescope with BOES spectrograph. The atmospheric parameters are determined using the iron-line abundance analysis. We derive an effective temperature value of $T_{eff}=6890{\pm}250K$, surface gravity of log g=$3.28{\pm}0.3$ dex, microturbulent velocity of ${\upsilon}_{micro}=4.1{\pm}0.4km\;s^{-1}$, and the iron abundance of log N=$7.82{\pm}0.15$. The projected rotational velocity of the star is close to ${\upsilon}$ sin i=3.5km $s^{-1}$. Asymmetric line profiles in the observed spectra and variation of this asymmetry with time show that both strong radial pulsation and weak non-radial pulsations are present in ${\rho}$ Pup.
To detect exoplanets and study pulsation of K giant stars, we have observed precise RV (radial velocity) of about 55 early K giant (K0 - K4) stars brighter than V = 5 magnitude since 2003 by using BOES, a high resolution Echelle spectrograph attached to the 1.8 m telescope at BOAO (Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory). We detected periodic RV variation of KO III star $\beta$ Gem (HD 62509) with a period $P\;=\;596.6\;{\pm}\;2.3$ days and a semi-amplitude $K\;=\;44.8\;{\pm}\;0.7\;ms^{-1}$. If we adopt 1.7 $M_{\odot}$ for the mass of $\beta$ Gem, this yields the minimum mass of the companion m sin i = 2.64 $M_{Jupiter}$. Our results agree well with Hatzes et al. (2006) and Reffert et al. (2006), and confirm their discovery of a planetary object around $\beta$ Gem. We also confirmed about 192 minutes short period stellar oscillation found by Hatzes and Zechmeister (2007). This is the first report of exoplanet detection using BOES and demonstrates that the RV observation using BOES is accurate and stable enough to detect exoplanets around bright K giant stars.
We examined thousands of light curves of stars brighter than 18.0 mag in I band and less than mean magnitude error of 0.1 mag in V band from the OGLE-III eclipsing binary catalogue, and found 90 new binary systems exhibiting apsidal motion. In this study, the samples of apsidal motion stars in the SMC were increased by 250 percent than previously known. In order to determine the period of the apsidal motion for the binaries, we analysed in detail both light curves and eclipse timings using the MACHO and OGLE photometric database obtained for about 20 yrs. For the eclipse timing diagrams of the systems, new times of minimum light were derived from the full light curve combined at intervals of one yr from the survey data. The binaries presented in this paper have apsidal motion periods in the range of 12-918 yrs. An additional short-term oscillation was detected in five systems (OGLE-SMC-ECL-1634, 1947, 3035, 4946, and 5382), which most likely arise from the existence of a third body orbiting each eclipsing binary. All of the selected systems can be used for the statistical study of the interior structure of the stars in the SMC through their apsidal motions due to the homogeneous data and consistent analysis methods.

A great deal of computing time and a large computer memory are needed to solve wave equation in a large complex subsurface layers using the finite difference method. The computing time and memory can be reduced by decreasing the number of grid points per minimum wave length. However, the decrease of grids may cause numerical dispersion and poor accuracy. In this study we performed the grid dispersion analysis for several rotated finite difference operators, which was commonly used to reduce grids per wavelength with accuracy in order to determine the solution for the acoustic wave equation in frequency domain. The rotated finite difference operators were to be extended to 81, 121 and 169 difference stars and studied whether the minimum grids could be reduced to 2 or not. To obtain accuracy (numerical errors less than $1\%$) the following was required: more than 13 grids for conventional 5 point difference stars, 9 grids for 9 difference stars, 3 grids for 25 difference stars, and 2.7 grids for 49 difference stars. After grid dispersion analysis for the new rotated finite difference operators, more than 2.5 grids for 81 difference stars, 2.3 grids for 121 difference stars and 2.1 grids for 169 difference stars were needed. However, in the 169 difference stars, there was no solution because of oscillation of the dispersion curves in the group velocity curves. This indicated that the grids couldn't be reduced to 2 in the frequency acoustic wave equation. According to grid dispersion analysis for the determination of grid points, the more rotated finite difference operators, the fewer grid points. However, the more rotated finite difference operators that are used, the more complex the difference equation terms.
The light curve and radial velocity curve of multiperiodic dwarf cepheid VI719 Cyg (HD200925) with peculiar light curve have been reanalyzed in order to identify the oscillation modes to confirm the helium settling within the envelope. To do these, through the period search for the photometric and radial velocity data from the literature, two different periods were determined and the oscillation modes corresponding to the first and second periods were identified as the fundamental and first radial overtones. Hence the helium settling within the envelope was confirmed from the period ratio. The color excess, metallicity, effective temperature, and surface gravity corresponding to two different modes were determined and it was found that these parameters almost do not depend upon different oscillation mode. By utilizing the surface brightness method, we investigated the variation of angular diameter and radial displacement and it was found that the angular variation is very peculiar. Also by referring to the stellar models, mass and age were determined as $2.7M_{\bigodot}$ and 0.42 Gyr respectively which make this variable star heavier and younger than other multimode dwarf cepheids. Preliminary spectroscopic CCD observations were carried out and it was found that Mg in VI719 Cygni is nearly solar abundent according to the analysis of $5172.68{\AA}MgI$ line which is inconsistent with the photometric result. It was suggested that VI719 Cyg may be classified as a $\rho$ Pup stars according to the photometric characteristics.
