  • A new set of capillary tube selection charts for R-22 is proposed. The set of charts takes into account of the roughness effect on the mass flow rate. For this purpose, a set of numerical model is developed and a series of experiments is conducted to verify the numerical model. A numerical model is used to calculated the mass flow rate for several sets of tube diameter, length, inlet pressures and degree of subcooling. The outlet of the tube is controlled to be at critical condition. The experimental flow rate is compared with calculated values. The calculated values are consistently less than the experimental ones except for the flow rate range below 40kg/hr. The deviation is within 10---. Based on the nunmerical model and results of experiments, the set of capillary tube selection charts for R-22 is constructed. The set of charts consists of standard capillary tube chart(L=2030mm, d=1.63mm, ${\varepsilon}=2.5{\mu}m$), non -standard flow factor(${\phi}_1$) chart, and non-standard roughness factor(${\phi}_2$) chart. The mass flow rate, flow factor, and the roughness factor are defined respectively as; $\dot{m}={\phi}_1{\phi}_2\dot{m}_{standard}\\{\phi}_1=\frac{\dot{m}(L,\;d,\;\varepsilon_{standard})}{\dot{m}_{standard}(L_{standard},\;d_{standard},\;{\varepsilon}_{standard})}\\{\phi}_2=\frac{\dot{m}(L_{standard},\;d_{standard},\;{\varepsilon})}{\dot{m}_{standard}(L_{standard},\;d_{standard},\;{\varepsilon}_{standard})}$.

  • Level 3 probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) is performed to calculate radionuclide concentrations and exposure dose resulting from nuclear power plant accidents. To calculate the external exposure dose from the released radioactive materials, the radionuclide concentrations are multiplied by two factors of dose coefficient and a finite cloud dose correction factor (FCDCF), and the obtained values are summed. This indicates that a standard set of FCDCFs is required for external exposure dose calculations. To calculate a standard set of FCDCFs, the effective distance from the release point to the receptor along the wind direction should be predetermined. The TID-24190 document published in 1968 provides equations to calculate FCDCFs and the resultant standard set of FCDCFs. However, it does not provide any explanation on the effective distance required to calculate the standard set of FCDCFs. In 2021, Sandia National Laboratories (SNLs) proposed a method to predetermine finite effective distances depending on the atmospheric stability classes A to F, which results in six standard sets of FCDCFs. Meanwhile, independently of the SNLs, the authors of this paper discovered that an infinite effective distance assumption is a very reasonable approach to calculate one standard set of FCDCFs, and they implemented it into the multi-unit radiological consequence calculator (MURCC) code, which is a post-processor of the level 3 PSA codes. This paper calculates and compares short- and long-range FCDCFs calculated using the TID-24190, SNLs method, and MURCC method, and explains the strength of the MURCC method over the SNLs method. Although six standard sets of FCDCFs are required by the SNLs method, one standard sets of FCDCFs are sufficient by the MURCC method. Additionally, the use of the MURCC method and its resultant FCDCFs for level 3 PSA was strongly recommended.

  • CALS is a strategy to share integrated product data through a set of standards to achieve efficiencies in business and operational mission areas. In this research, we first studied current status for CALS standard and then analyzed the case of US DoD. The results can be summarized as implementing for two major standard in defense CALS system. They are STEP and XML. Our recommendations can be used to set direction for CALS standard implementation and standard selection process.

  • This article addresses the problem of measuring a joint agreement between multiple raters and a standard set of responses. A new agreement measure based on Um's approach is proposed. The proposed agreement measure is used for multivariate interval responses. Comparison is made between the proposed measure and other corresponding agreement measures using hypothetical data set.

  • This paper seeks for the set-up plan in the reasonable target area of environmental assessment. Domestically, the target area of environmental assessment is set up by the adjustment of opinion collection about the assessment scope result of an environmental factor. In a foreign country, the boundary of the target area for a development project is established with the environmental, economical, and social viewpoint based on the standard for significantly environmental impact. Based on the analysis of the present condition at home and abroad, the first set-up plan for the reasonable target area of environmental assessment is the preparation of the detailed term definition related to the target area of environmental assessment. The second is the arrangement of the judgement standard for significantly environmental impact. The quantitative assesment item can apply the present standard or regulation, and the qualitative assessment item can establish the standard based on factual and objective data. The last is the preparation of the reference material or the guideline for deciding the initial target area by the judgement standard and determining the final target area by opinion collection in the stage of scoping.

  • This paper presents the part-of-speech set which is highly efficient at knowledge-based word sense disambiguation for Korean nouns. 174,000 sentences extracted for test set from Sejong semantic tagged corpus whose sense is based on Standard korean dictionary. We disambiguate selected nouns in test set using glosses and examples in Standard Korean dictionary. 15 part-of-speeches which give the best performance for all test set and 17 part-of-speeches which give the best performance for accuracy average of selected nouns are selected. We obtain 12% more performance by those part-of-speech sets than by full 45 part-of-speech set.

  • In order to construct a successful electronic commerce system, three main essential factors must be satisfied to obtain the best effective outcomes. The three main essential factors are as follows : economic factor, effectiveness factor and convenient factor. In order to understand the role of these three factors, one must have some insight knowledge about security to assist him to implement these three factors in his construction of an electronic commerce system. This paper analyses a implementation mechanism of security systems based on the SET 1.0 standard for electronic commerce systems, thus providing an effective plan for the construction of a security system in the SET-based electronic commerce field. This paper helps to analyse the elements of security vulnerabilities in the SET 1.0 standard implementation and also helps to understand the SET 1.0 protocol.

  • It is not possible to exchange parametric information of CAD models based on the current version of STEP (Standard for the Exchange of Product model data). The designer intents are lost during the transfer of CAD models. To resolve this problem, the macro-parametric approach had been proposed. To enable this approach, a set of standard modeling commands has been defined. Errors or missing elements of the standard modeling commands can be discovered by implementing macro-parametric translators. But there is a limit to discover problems only by using translators. This paper proposes a method to verify the standard modeling commands by implementing a geometric modeler. First, each argument of a modeling command is verified. Second, the set of the standard modeling commands is applied to geometric modeling of commercially available product parts. For the geometric modeling, nine test models have been selected.

  • As the NOAFL of copper based on liver toxicity in the human body is set and the TDI of copper is lower, it is necessary to strengthen the drinking water standard of copper according to toxic effects and the TDI of copper in humans. It is difficult to calculate the accurate drinking water standard because of the part of uncertainty for chronic effects of acute human with Wilson's disease and baby in the current studies. In order to improve the drinking water standard of copper considering of liver toxicity, it is desired to set the drinking water standard with concerning of the revising tendency in the foreign countries such as US, EC and WHO.
