Selection Strategy for the File Format of Official Documents in a Cloud Environment (클라우드 환경에서 공문서 파일포맷의 선택 전략)

  • In the digital age, the most basic unit of records management is a document file. Depending on whether each document file is produced in an open standard format or an exclusive proprietary format, there is a cost difference in the process of use and long-term preservation. As government agencies moved to cloud-based business management systems, web-based document editing software was newly adopted. They had the opportunity to select a new file format for web-based document editing software. This paper deals with strategies to maximize the advantages of open standard formats while considering the legacy public document production practices. It introduces ISO/IEC 26300:2006 ODF, ISO/IEC 29500:2008 OOXML, KS X 6101 OWPML, etc. as open standard formats, and looks at considerations when choosing a format and web-based document editing software. In addition, it proposes a strategy to maintain the format of document files shared in cloud storage as an open standard format.

  • EDI(Electronic Data Interchange) allows the exchange of business information and computer-processable data in a standard, structured format electronically between organizational entities. EDI handles the restructuring of a business document into the standard format so that it can be transmitted from one computer to another. This paper identifies features and technologies of web browsed electronic document exchange system as follows 1) the fundamental technologies that consists of the EDI technologies, the Internet/Web technologies, the security/authentication techniques, and the XML implementation technologies. 2) the functions that consists of the document standards, transfer technology of the document, encryption and authentication 3) the implemented Web-EDI systems that consists of document generation module, encryption and authentication module, transfer module, acknowledgement module, administration module. In this paper, the Web-based EDI system implemented from the researched technologies will be installed on the EDI servers owned by corporate customers and enable the exchange of documents between each installed companies.

  • Korean public organizations create electronic documents through electronic document management systems under the e-Government scheme. A majority of these public documents are saved in vendor-dependent file formats, mainly HWP. Vendor-dependent formats can be opened only with specific software, which requires purchase. As the license does not guarantee compatibility between past and future versions, interoperability problems occur in long-term preservation, which need to be solved. Any error from the elimination of styles or no matching elements in document definition during conversion from vendor-dependent formats to the XML-based standard exchange format leads to file open failure or the modification of original documents. This study introduces the Open Document Format (ODF) and investigates the effects of adopting ODF in the creation, exchange, management, and preservation of public records.

  • This paper is for the design and implementation of SGML document presentation system to format SGML document based on DSSSL. ISO/lEC proposed DSSSL as the technological standard for formatting and transforming SGML document. This paper shows the design of this system in accordance with the model defined in DSSSL. This system, which is able to provide Korean, has parsing function of arbitrary DTDs, SGML documents and DSSSL style sheets, and contains a formatter that can manage various specifications, such as graphs, lists, pictures, as well as text. This will satisfy a user's intent for exchange of SGML documents that involve format information between different types, greatly contribute to make up SGML document processing environment.

  • This paper describes the conversion system which translates wordprocessor file into ODIF(Open Document Interchange Format) data stream for document interchange between heterogeneous systems and applications. We design the translator according to ODA of international base standard, FOD26 of international funtional standard, and a BosukGul V file for source document file. This system is implemented using the Microsoft Windows and the ODAC(ODA Consortium) toolkit in the PC environment.

  • At present, the electronic catalog format and the process system which are used in B2B (Business-To-Business) electronic commerce are applying different system architectures according to their businesses and industries characteristics. B2B business corporations using the electronic commerce started to consider the importance of standard electronic catalog format to enhance their interoperability. As a result, the necessity of unified electronic catalog system gathered strength in exchanging and managing enormous information of electronic catalog process system constructed in each corporation and industry. Therefore, we suggest data format to improve interoperability using XML (eXtensible Markup Language), as a standard document format in electronic catalog document and define the structure of electronic catalog document in processing the information of goods using XML Schema. In addition, we presents the integrated electronic catalog registry system which provides the service of searching and registering using the electronic catalog document defined through XML for each corporation to use it in electronic marketplace. Furthermore, we exhibits a model of the electronic catalog document that improves its interoperability and reusability in electronic commerce and a model of integrated electronic catalog system.

  • XML been using extensively by standard of data exchanging in the Internet is observed by a technology to replace existent document creation language of HTML etc. Biggest characteristic of this XML is that logic information and physical information that express style of document that do that express structural substance of document were detached. Hereupon, W3C advised XSL that oner style function of form similar to HTML for XML's style and data conversion. Also, XSL's conversion function offers function that change XML document to other data format, and can describe style information through conversion of various document format. But, a XML document conversion technology that use XSLT know-how in domestic is unprepared real condition, and necessity about solution that can edit XSLT document efficiently is putting. This paper does XML document so that conversion and output are available in various document format. And offered research of XSLT document editing system that can edit and create XSLT document efficiently under WYSIWYG environment.

  • This paper is to develop metadata format for eBook document standard at Korea. Metadata formats of OEBF, JepaX and AAP were compared and analyzed on the criteria such as purpose, basic elements, characteristics, compatibility, extensibility and convertibility. EBKS metadata format based on Dublin Core was developed in terms of easy to use, resources descriptions and discovery, extensibility and compatibility between other metadata formats such as MARC and Dublin Core. Finally, research and revision direction of the eBook document standard were proposed for the future study.

  • We proposed electronic catalog document structure which can process information of goods configurationally and electronic catalog standard format to support various catalog document format and structure. using XML. We designed and implemented electronic catalog system that can use by user who takes part in the transaction the electronic catalog document defined in electronic commerce integration style. This system was advantageous in getting useful information as it was having a common electronic catalog document for all business transactions using interoperability of the Web Services.

  • Despite the social interest in eBook and its advantages, as a result of each industry using different document formats, it is difficult to exchange or share eBook contents. And this hindered the activation of eBook market. The U.S. and Japan have realized the importance of setting a standard for eBook document format and have established eBook standard with government agencies and related industries and in Korea, also, through Working Group for Standardization Committee of EBK, eBook industry standard, EBKS, was established. EBKS provides more advantages than HTML or PDF and the basic format is XML. The objective of EBKS is exact exchange of eBook content, reflection of characteristics of Korean publication environment, simplicity in creating, and convertibility with other standards. Meanwhile, in the DTD aspect, EBKS includes static document structure, extension mechanism, vertical writing, multi-column editing and reflection on the characteristics of Korean and proverbs. For exchanging style, content and style are separated using XSL-FO and XSL-FO is recommended for printing. Also, EBKS metadata is composed of do-metadata that does not use qualifier and x-metadata for extension to provide easiness in usage and ability to exchange and convert.
