PURPOSE. The present study investigated the influences of various gypsum materials on the precision of fit of CAD/CAM-fabricated prostheses and analyzed their correlation with surface roughness. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The master model of the mandibular right first molar was replicated, and four experimental groups based on two types of Type IV stone (GC Fujirock EP, Die keen) and two types of scannable stone (Aesthetic-Basegold, Everest Rock) were created to include a total of 40 specimens, 10 in each group. The surface roughness of the working models for the respective experimental groups was measured. Once the zirconia cores had been fabricated, the marginal and internal fits were measured with a digital microscope using the silicone replica technique. The mean and standard deviation of the respective points of measurement were computed and analyzed through the one-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD test. The correlation between surface roughness and the precision of fit of the zirconia core was analyzed using the Pearson correlation analysis (${\alpha}$=.05). RESULTS. The zirconia cores fabricated from the scannable stone working models exhibited a superior precision of fit as compared to those fabricated from the Type IV stone working models. The correlation analysis results showed a clear positive correlation between surface roughness and the precision of fit of zirconia cores in all of the experimental groups (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The results confirmed that the surface roughness of dental working models has a decisive influence on the precision of fit of zirconia cores.

As semi-solid forging (SSF) is compared with conventional easting such as gravity die-easting and squeeze casting, the product without inner defects can be obtained from semi-solid forming and globular microstructure as well. Generally speaking. SSF consists of reheating, forging, ejecting precesses. In the reheating process, the materials are heated up to the temperature between the solidus and liquidus line at which the materials exists in the form of liquid-solid mixture. The process variables such as reheating time, reheating temperature, reheating holding time, and induction heating power have much effect on the quality of the reheated billets. It is difficult to consider all the variables at the same time when predicting the quality. In this paper, Taguchi method, regression analysis and neural network were applied to analyze the relationship between processing conditions and solid fraction. A356 alloy was used for the present study, and the learning data were extracted by the reheating experiments. Results by neural network were on good agreement with those by experiment. Polynominal regression analysis was formulated by using the test data from neural network. Optimum processing condition was calculated to minimize the grain size, solid fraction standard deviation, otherwise, to maximize the specimen temperature average. In this time, discussion is liven about reheating process of row material and results are presented with regard to accurate process variables for proper solid fraction, specimen temperature and grain size.

Recently, one-dimensional semiconducting nanomaterials have attracted considerable interest for their potential as building blocks for fabricating various nanodevices. Among these semiconducting nanomaterials,, $SnO_2$ nanostructures including nanowires, nanorods, nanobelts, and nanotubes were successfully synthesized and their electrochemical properties were evaluated. Although $SnO_2$ nanowires and nanobelts exhibit fascinating gas sensing characteristics, there are still significant difficulties in using them for device applications. The crucial problem is the alignment of the nanowires. Each nanowire should be attached on each die using arduous e-beam or photolithography, which is quite an undesirable process in terms of mass production in the current semiconductor industry. In this study, a simple process for making sensitive $SnO_2$ nanowire-based gas sensors by using a standard semiconducting fabrication process was studied. The nanowires were aligned in-situ during nanowire synthesis by thermal CVD process and a nanowire network structure between the electrodes was obtained. The $SnO_2$ nanowire network was floated upon the Si substrate by separating an Au catalyst between the electrodes. As the electric current is transported along the networks of the nanowires, not along the surface layer on the substrate, the gas sensitivities could be maximized in this networked and floated structure. By varying the nanowire density and the distance between the electrodes, several types of nanowire network were fabricated. The $NO_2$ gas sensitivity was 30~200 when the $NO_2$ concentration was 5~20ppm. The response time was ca. 30~110 sec.

This paper presents a SoC (System-on-a-Chip) dedicated for a single-chip smart capsule which can be used to continuously monitor human alimentary canal pH and temperature values. The SoC is composed of the pH and temperature sensor interface circuit, a wireless transceiver, the power management circuit and the flow control logic. Fabricated in $0.18{\mu}m$ standard CMOS technology, the SoC occupies a die area of ${\sim}9 mm^2$. The SoC consumes 6.15 mW from a 3 V power supply, guaranteeing the smart capsule battery life is no less than 24 hours when using 50 mAh coin batteries. The experimental results show that measurement accuracy of the smart capsule is ${\pm}0.1$ pH and ${\pm}0.2^{\circ}C$ for pH and temperature sensing, respectively, which meets the requirement of in-body pH and temperature monitoring in clinical practice.

This paper proposes a new body-effect compensated switch configuration for low voltage and low distortion switched-capacitor (SC) applications. The proposed circuit allows rail-to-rail switching operation for low voltage SC circuits and has better total harmonic distortion than the conventional bootstrapped circuit by 19 dB. A 2-1 cascaded sigma-delta modulator is provided for performing the high-resolution analog-to-digital conversion on audio codec in a communication transceiver. An experimental prototype for a single-stage folded-cascode operational amplifier (opamp) and a 2-1 cascaded sigma-delta modulator has been implemented m a 0.25 micron double-poly, triple-metal standard CMOS process with 2.7 V of supply voltage. The 1% settling time of the opamp is measured to be 560 ns with load capacitance of 16 pF. The experimental testing of the sigma-delta modulator with bit-stream inspection and analog spectrum analyzing plot is performed. The die size is $1.9{\times}1.5\;mm$.
All-ceramic restorations have become an attractive alternative to porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. In-Ceram, and more recently IPS Empress 2 were introduced as a new all-ceramic system for single crowns and 3-unit fixed partial dentures. But their strength and marginal fit are still an important issue. This study evaluated the fracture resistance and marginal fit of three systems of 3 unit all-ceramic bridge fabricated on prepared maxillary anterior resin teeth in vitro. The 3 all-ceramic bridge systems were: (1) a glass-infiltrated, sintered alumina system (In-Ceram) fabricated conventionally, (2) the same system with copy-milled alumina cores (copy-milled In-Ceram), (3) a heat pressed, lithium disilicate reinforced glass-ceramic system (IPS Empress 2). Ten bridges of each system with standardized design of framework were fabricated. All specimens of each system were compressed at $55^{\circ}$ at the palatal surface of pontic until catastrophic fracture occurred. Another seven bridges of each system were fabricated with standard method. All of the bridge-die complexes were embedded in epoxy resin and sectioned buccolingually and mesiodistally. The absolute marginal discrepancy was measured with stereomicroscope at ${\times}50$ power. The following results were obtained: 1. There was no significant difference in the fracture strength among the 3 systems studied. 2. The Weibull modulus of copy-milled In-Ceram was higher than that of In-Ceram and IPS Empress 2 bridges. 3. Copy-milled In-Ceram($112{\mu}m$) exhibited significantly greater marginal discrepancy than In Ceram ($97{\mu}m$), and IPS Empress 2 ($94{\mu}m$) at P=0.05. 4. The lingual surfaces of the ceramic crowns showed smaller marginal discrepancies than mesial and distal points. There was no significant difference between teeth (incisor, canine) at P=0.05. 5. All-ceramic bridges of three systems appeared to exhibit sufficient initial strength and accept able marginal fit values to allow clinical application.
PURPOSE. This in vitro study aimed to compare the failure load and failure characteristics of two different zirconia framework designs of premolar crowns when subjected to static loading. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Two types of zirconia frameworks, conventional 0.5 mm even thickness framework design (EV) and 0.8 mm cutback of full contour crown anatomy design (CB), were made for 10 samples each. The veneer porcelain was added on under polycarbonate shell crown made by vacuum of full contour crown to obtain the same total thickness of the experiment crowns. The crowns were cemented onto the Cobalt-Chromium die. The dies were tilted 45 degrees from the vertical plane to obtain the shear force to the cusp when loading. All crowns were loaded at the lingual incline of the buccal cusp until fracture using a universal testing machine with cross-head speed 0.5 mm/min. The load to fracture values (N) was recorded and statistically analyzed by independent sample t-test. RESULTS. The mean and standard deviations of the failure load were $1,170.1{\pm}90.9$ N for EV design and $1,450.4{\pm}175.7$ N for CB design. A significant difference in the compressive failure load was found (P<.05). For the failure characteristic, the EV design was found only cohesive failures within veneering porcelain, while the CB design found more failures through the zirconia framework (8 from 10 samples). CONCLUSION. There was a significant difference in the failure load between two designs, and the design of the framework influences failure characteristic of zirconia crown.
Oral medication is one of the most frequent treatment in clinical care. and frequently refused by children. Children's refusal spends unuseful time and require nurses'Patience. So this study was attempted to develop token economy Program which Promote children's medication. and to evaluate its' effect to construct the experimental ground. This study was a quasi experimental study under the nonequivalent control group non-synchronized design. The subjects of this study were 48 children who were aged 3-12 years and admitted pediatric ward because of their respiratory disease. Token economy program was consisted of cartoon record paper with stickers which expresses the better medication is taken the more germs die, and gift was given for back up reinforcer. To evaluate this Program. time spent for oral medication was measured six time to both experimental group and control group. and measured the perceived effectiveness of this program by nurses. To determine the effect of the program, the data were analyzed by the SAS 6.12 Program with t-test and mean, standard deviation. The results of this study were as follows: 1 In experimental group, time spent for oral medication was significantly shorter than in control group(t=5.24. p=0.0001). Therefore, the hypothesis of this study was strongly accepted. 2. Nurses perceived this program as an effective one(mean=3.125~3.792). The effectiveness occurred before. during and after medication as well as in parental responses, especially in using verbal dissatisfaction after medication. In conclusion. it was found that the token economy program for admitted children was effective in inducing the children's behavior of oral medication. There was no effectiveness in very highly anxious children Whereas, it is recommended that this program should not be used for such children until they settle down. If the token economy program was made in various situation with creative thinking, it will be very useful nursing measurement, especially in caring for children. To improve the qualify of nursing care, the various programs, which can give joyfulness to stressed patients should be developed.

The rate of sewage treatment in South Korea was 68% in the late 1999. Sewage treatment is mostly made near big cities such as Seoul and Busan, and it is little in rural areas. Wastewater from households goes to streams directly without treatment in rural areas and pollutes streams. It is necessary to improve the progress for treatment of nutrients such as N and P which cause eutrophication in streams and lakes, because sewage treatment system in South Korea focuses on treatment of basic organic matters. Therefore it will contribute to improve discharged water quality if small sewage treatment systems by aquatic plants and microbes are introduced to rural areas where are not connected to local sewage treatment facility. This experiment was conducted to find out the best way using aquatic plants and microbes to purify wastewater from households through individual sewage treatment system. Phragmites communis, Iris pseudoacorus, Acorus calamus var. angustatus, Typha orientalis and Oenanthe javanica were used for this experiment. BOD, COD, SS, T-N and T-P were analyzed following standard methods for wastewater. The result shows that wastewater was roughly purified through pebbles and sands, and highly purified through aquatic plants and microbes especially in T-N and T-P. Iris pseudoacorus is the most effective in reduction of COD and BOD level. This system will work even in winter when plants die because microbes will be still working.
The depositional environment of the Manhang and the Geumcheon Formation of the Pennsylvanian Gomog Croup is revealed to the shallow neritic marine milieu in this paper also as the results of Park (1963), Cheong(1975) and Kim (1976), through the analyses of stratigraphy, paleocurrent, properties of cross-beddings and sedimentational features. The formations contains some possible terrestrial sediments suggesting the paralic environment, which are however not recognized definitely within them. The paleocurrent analysis is made to the Manhang Formation only. The paleocurrent of the formation is known to belong to the shallow neritic longshore current. The paleocurrent analysis is based chiefly on the cross-bedding analysis, and subordinately on the texture of elastic coarse sediments. The paleocurrent mean is determined to $269^{\circ}$, that is, from east to west, of which direction is interpreted to the right angle to the slope of the basinal depository plane and also the parallel with die depositional strike, according to Klein (1960) and Selley's (1968) criteria. The variance value of paleocurrent directions of the Manhang Formation in the whole area studied is 6,374, and the values range from 3,394 to 6,957 according to the dirstricts. The paleocurreut pattern of the whole area shows polymodel, and the patterns in each district range from trimodel to quadrimodel. Those models approach to the shallow marine or paralic model of Tohill and Picard (1966), Picard and High (1968 a), Pisnak (1957) and Pettijohn (1962). The mean value of maximum inclinations of cross-beddings of the whole area is $19.9^{\circ}$ with the standard deviation of 8.4, and ranges from $15.6^{\circ}$ to $21.7^{\circ}$ in the districts. Comparing the histogram showing the frequency distribution of the maximum inclinations of cross-beddings of the Manhang Formation with the Pettijohn's (1962) histogram, it is found that the model approaches to his marine model. The Pennsylvanian Gomog Group of the coalfield is considered to have had been deposited in the pseudogeosynclinal zone on the plateau by the transgression of the Tethyan sea caused by the epirogenic movements during the Pennsylvanian Period.
