  • Objective: This systematic review aimed to provide a comparative analysis of the treatment outcomes, including hard and soft tissues, postoperative stability, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), and quality of life (QoL), in patients with facial asymmetry who underwent orthognathic surgery. Methods: The primary objective was to address the question, "How do different factors related to surgery affect the outcomes and stability of orthognathic surgery in the correction of facial asymmetry?" A meta-analysis was conducted on the outcome parameters, such as skeletal, dental, and soft tissue symmetry, TMD, QoL, and relapse, using the Hartung-Knapp-Sidik-Jonkman method for random-effects models. Subgroup analyses were conducted considering surgery-related factors such as surgical techniques (one-jaw vs. two-jaw), use of the surgery-first approach, utilization of computer simulation, and analytical methods employed to evaluate asymmetry (2D vs. 3D). Results: Forty-nine articles met the inclusion criteria. The metaanalysis demonstrated a significant improvement in the symmetry of hard and soft tissues. The subgroup analysis indicated that the treatment outcomes showed significant improvement, regardless of the factors related to surgery. Changes in TMD signs and symptoms varied according to the surgical technique used. Quality of life improved in the facial, oral, and social domains. Skeletal relapse was observed during the follow-up. Conclusions: Our findings support the positive outcomes of orthognathic surgery in the treatment of facial asymmetry in terms of skeletal and soft tissue improvements, stability, relief of TMD symptoms, and enhancement of QoL. However, most of the included studies showed a low certainty of evidence and high heterogeneity.

  • When constructing a high-speed railroad, the reduction of the distance between track centers and the width of track bed may bring about the effect of cost savings. When, however, considering the influence that the increase of wind pressure due to the change of the distance between track centers may have on the stability of train operation, extensive technical review and overall studies need to be performed before the distance between track centers is determined. Therefore, in this study, the impact that the increase in wind pressure due to the change of aerodynamic phenomena with the change of the distance between track centers may have on two trains passing by each other was predicted, and the stability of train operation was analyzed in order to review the distance between track centers suitable to Honam HSR trains. In this study, we estimated the aerodynamical effects by the results of the real train experiments.

  • When constructing a high-speed railroad, the reduction of the distance between track centers and the width of track bed will save the construction cost. However the shortening the distance between track centers may cause the stability problems due to higher wind pressure. Therefore the extensive technical review and aerodynamical study should be performed to determine the adequate distance between track centers. In this study, the impact that the increase in wind pressure due to the change of aerodynamic phenomena with the change of the distance between track centers may have on two trains passing by each other was predicted, and the stability of train operation was analyzed in order to review the distance between track centers suitable to Honam HSR trains. And we estimated the aerodynamical effects by the results of the real train experiments by using KTX.

  • Recently, dental PACS construction in dental hospital is fairly general. For this reason, inspection request works of dental PACS fee with Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service are more important for the financial stability in hospital and from now on status. But several departments in dental hospital, enforce a incoherent order system so inspection request situation is full of mistakes and omissions. As a result, financial stability in hospital rapidly change for the worse, as the case stands establishment of proper order system and match system is essential to resolve the issue. Consequently, we plan to establish the proposed idealized scheme.

  • Entrainment in thermosyphons and heat pipes was characterized in view of the interfacial stability associated with the critical Weber number and the entrainment limit at the onset of liquid entrainment from the liquid or wicked interface. Both literature review and theoretical analysis on the entrainment models were peformed in order to evaluate accuracy of the predicted value. For this purpose, the models were categorized in two groups according to their entrainment mechanism and interfacial configurations, i.e., the wave-induced entrainment and the shear-induced entrainment, respectively. Thus, the twelve models(five models for the wave-induced entrainment and seven for the shear induced entrainment) were examined to obtain individual trends and their discrepancies from the general tendency of the overall models. As a result, the critical Weber numbers and entrainment limits were calculated and represented as a function of vapor temperature for the chosen characteristic dimensions of the interface.

  • As buildings increase in height, lifting plans are becoming increasingly important on construction sites. As a critical piece of load-lifting equipment, the tower crane deserves a well thought-out stability review, since it has a significant impact and is very vulnerable to structural safety disaster. To ensure the structural stability of a tower crane, its lateral support or pile supported foundation designs must include consideration for stability, and pile foundation must be used if site conditions prevent soil from providing the required bearing capacity, or prevent the foundation from being increased to the required extent. Pile supported foundation design requires thorough and systematic review, as more stability parameters need to be considered than with an independent foundation. This paper intends to develop an optimal design algorithm that can minimize associated costs while ensuring the fundamental stability of pile supported foundation design, limiting the scope of research to fixed-type trolley tower cranes using pile supported foundations. The findings herein on pile foundation stability review parameters, process and optimal design are expected to improve the operational efficiency of staff concerned, and reduce the time and efforts required for pile foundation design.

  • We conducted a comprehensive review on artificial reefs (ARs) including seaweed reefs for marine afforestation in relation to their development and research from 1972 to 2016, and then systematically analyzed their current a state-of-the-art and practice. From the review, the followings conclusions are made. First, the objectives of AR projects in the Southeast Asia can be classified into three, i.e. protection and increase of fishery resources, local community's profits, and ecological tourism. Second, fish gathering effects by ARs can be determined in terms of wake region or wake length that tends to increase with the K-C (Keulegan-Carpenter) number. Third, ARs are desirable to deploy across a direction of the main flow but it is essential to keep the deployment interval two to four times the length of a single reef. Fourth, stability of ARs depends on how to evaluate drag coefficient, and Morison formula turns out to be practical. Fifth, local scours of ARs are likely to occur due to a downward flow around the center of the front surface. Finally, it is natural for ARs to positively contribute to the marine ecosystem but it is imperative to develop an evaluation method for the effects of ARs on the marine ecosystem.

  • Modularization in a high-rise building is different from a small building, as it is exposed to more lateral forces like wind and earthquakes. The integrity, robustness, and overall stability of the modules and their performance is based on the joining techniques and strong structural systems. High lateral stiff construction structures like concrete shear walls and frames, braced steel frames, and steel moment frames are used for the stability of high-rise modular buildings. Similarly, high-rise stick-built buildings have concrete cores and perimeter frames for lateral load strength and stiffness. Methods for general steel-concrete connections are available in many works of literature. However, there are few modular-related papers describing this connection system in modular buildings. This paper aims to review the various research and practice adopted for steel-to-concrete connections in construction and compare the methods between stick-built buildings and modular buildings. The literature review shows that the practice of steel module-to-concrete core connection in high-rise modular buildings is like outrigger beams-to-concrete core connection in stick-built framed buildings. This paper concludes that further studies are needed in developing proper guidelines for a steel module-to-concrete core connection system in high-rise modular buildings.
