  • A composite member made of concrete-filled steel tubes (CFT columns) has been recognized for its fire resistance due to the thermal mass effect of concrete inside the steel tube, as shown in various studies. In this study, the fire resistance performance of reinforced CFT columns under constant axial load was evaluated using finite element analysis with ABAQUS. For this purpose, the variables including cross-section size, steel tube thickness, and concrete cover thickness were set, and the temperature distribution in the column cross-section exposed to a standard fire was investigated using heat transfer analysis. Ultimately, a P-M interaction curve was obtained by evaluating the overall residual strength of columns, and the fire resistance time was determined by evaluating axial displacement-time responses due to the reduction in load capacity during fire through stress analysis.

  • The present study analyzed the effector that has an influence on continuance intention to use YouTube that is a prime platform to distribute visual contents. Whether the dispersion of information communication technology succeeds or not is determined by a more extent which user uses active and continued than adopts fast. From this point of view, we employed partial least square(PLS) path modeling to analyze structural causality among constructs in the post-adoption model(PAM). As a result, all paths given in PAM except for the path 'confirmation-satisfaction' were validated. Especially, confirmation mediated with satisfaction than perceived usefulness has a more effect on continuance intention. Finally, we described the limitation of the present study and the suggestion for future research.

  • Recently, CFT Column has reported a lot of study result, because a CFT column has certain superior structural properties as well as good productivity, execution efficiency, and improved rigidity over existing column. However, CFT column still has problems clearing the capacity evaluation between its steel tube member and high-strength concrete materials. Also, high-strength concrete filled steel square tube column(HCFT) examined numerical value explanatorily about transformation performance(M-ø) of when short-column receives equal flexure-moment from axial stress on research for concrete. hnd, with basis assumption, executed development of analysis program of moment-curvature relation for analytic analysis of transformation performance of HCFT section that get by an experiment. This study investigated to properties of structural(capacity, curvature), through a series of experiments for HCFT with key parameters, such as strength of concrete(600kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$), D/t ratio, slenderness ratio(λ) and concrete kinds under eccentric load. And, I executed comparative analysis with AISC-LRFD, AIJ and Takanori Sato etc. and experiment result that is capacity design formula.

  • Recently, high performance(strength) steels have been utilized to structural materials in buildings and bridges with the demand for high-rise and long-span of main structures. This paper is a series of basic study for the design specification of structural members using high performance steel, material properties of high performance rolled steel building structures. HSA800 was compared with the requirements of Korean Standards(KS) for HSA800. Welded square tube stub columns with variables of width-to-thickness ratios are planned in order to investigate the local buckling behaviors and check the current design limit of width-to-thickness ratio and uniaxial compressive tests are carried out. In addition, the local buckling behaviors of stub columns obtained finite element analysis were compared with those of test results.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of semi-igid behavior of the steel tubular column to H-beam connection reinforced with exterior square-plate diaphragms and to check the main parameters that affect this behavior. Steel tube connections without interior diaphragm and/or complicated exterior diaphragm show the considerable flexibility due to out of-plane deformation of tube flange. For the exact analysis well-reflected the effect of this flexibility on the overall frame performance. it need to find out the moment-rotation curve function that well trace the result of experiment in the whole region and the function should be simply transformed into an adequate form for the nonlinear analysis program. After collecting several test data same to the connection type considered. we carried out FEM analysis using ANSYS for the assumed beam-to-column connection developed from the simple tension test and the results are compared with experimental values. Based on the parametric study. we proposed the moment-relation curve function and performed the multiple-regression analysis procedure for three parameters consisting of this function with the main geometric parameter of this connection type.

  • Recently, high-performance steels have been increasingly used for structural materials in buildings and bridges with the demand for high-rise and long-span of main structures. This paper offers a series of basic study for the design specification of structural members using high performance steel, that is material properties of HSA800 (High-performance rolled steel for building structures). Built-up square tube stub columns with variables of width-to-thickness ratios are planned as a parametric study in order to investigate the local buckling behaviors and check the current design limit of width-to-thickness ratio. In addition, the buckling behaviors of stub columns obtained finite element (FE) analysis were compared with those from experimental tests. The verified FE model was used for parametric study and checked applicability of high-strength steel on current design specification.

  • This paper handles the repairing of deficient square Concrete-Filled Steel-Tube (CFST) beams subject to bending through an experimental and numerical program. Eight square-CFST beams were tested. A 5-mm artificial notch was induced at mid-span of seven beams, four of them were repaired by using CFRP sheets and two were repaired by using GFRP sheets. The beam deflection, strain and ultimate moments were recorded. It was found that providing different cut-off points for the different layers of FRP sheets prohibited failure at termination points due to stress concentrations. Using different lengths of FRP sheets around the notch retarded crack propagation and prevented FRP rupture at the crack position. Finite element analysis was then conducted and the proposed FE model was verified against the recorded experimental data. The influence of various parameters as FRP sheet length, tensile modulus and the number of layers were studied. The moment capacity of damaged square-CFST beams was improved up to 77.6% when repaired by using four layers of CFRP, however, this caused a dramatic decrease in beam deflection. U-wrapping of notched-CFST beam with 0.75 of its length provided a comparable behaviour as wrapping the full length of the beam.

  • This paper numerically investigated the behavior of built-up square concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns under combined preload and axial compression. The finite element (FE) models of target columns were verified in terms of failure mode, axial load-deformation curve and ultimate strength. A full-range analysis on the axial load-deformation response as well as the interaction behavior was conducted to reveal the composite mechanism. The parametric study was performed to investigate the influences of material strengths and geometric sizes. Subsequently, influence of construction preload on the full-range behavior and confinement effect was investigated. Numerical results indicate that the axial load-deformation curve can be divided into four working stages where the contact pressure of curling rib arc gradually disappears as the steel tube buckles; increasing width-to-thickness (B/t) ratio can enhance the strength enhancement index (e.g., an increment of 1.88% from B/t=40 to B/t=100), though ultimate strength and ductility are decreased; stiffener length and lip inclination angle display a slight influence on strength enhancement index and ductility; construction preload can degrade the plastic deformation capacity and postpone the origin appearance of contact pressure, thus making a decrease of 14.81%~27.23% in ductility. Finally, a revised equation for determining strain εscy corresponding to ultimate strength was proposed to evaluate the plastic deformation capacity of built-up square CFST columns.

  • Because of the instability of a flow pattern in the inlet transition square duct (hereinafter referred to as "transition duct") of a heat recovery steam generator (hereinafter referred to as "HRSG") in a combined cycle power plant, the Reynolds number in the first row of a tube bank is differs sharply from that in the sectional area of the transition duct. This causes differences in the heat flux in each tube in the tube bank. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) predictions provide three-dimensional results for velocity, temperature, and other flow parameters over the entire domain of the duct and HRSG. A renormalization group theory (RNG) based k-${\epsilon}$ turbulent model is used for obtaining the results cited in this study. A porous media option is used for modeling the tube banks and the number of transfer units method is used for determining the heat transfer characteristics. This study describes a comparison between the numerical simulation results and actual design output.

  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to compare confidence in practice of intermittent gavage tube feeding and participants' satisfaction by three types of feedback; professor verbal feedback, professor feedback with smartphone video, and peer feedback with smartphone video. In addition, frequently failed items in the intermittent gavage tube feeding procedure were analyzed. Methods: Data were collected from a convenience sample of 78 nursing college students in November 2014. Students were randomly assigned to the control group, experimental group I (smartphone video with professor feedback) or group II (smartphone video with peer feedback). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including chi-square test, ANOVA, and Scheffe test with SPSS 21.0. Results: Confidence in practice of intermittent gavage tube feeding and satisfaction with feedback were highest in experimental group I that had professor feedback with smartphone video. For the procedure, the most frequently failed item was giving an explanation to patients about the purpose and the procedure of tube feeding. Conclusion: The results indicate that professor verbal feedback with smartphone video is the most benefit to the nursing students in acquiring core nursing practice skills.
