Spandex fibers have superior stretch and elastic recovery ability. Composite yarns containing spandex are frequently used to manufacture elastic textile products and accessories. We have developed a composite yarn spinning system that produces different kinds of composite yarns containing spandex on a modified open-end rotor spinning frame. By changing the twisting parameter of composite yarns, we studied the structure and properties of rotor-spun composite yarns with spandex. The results indicate that the twisting parameter has great influence on the structure and properties of rotor-spun composite yarns with spandex. The linear density of spandex filament has influence on the properties of composite yarns too. In comparison with normal rotor-spun yarn, the appearance of composite yarns is clearer, the structure is much tighter, and the properties are improved.
This study surveys the yarn physical properties of the MTS spun yarn & Ring spun yarn. For this purpose, wool/polyester 50%/50%, 2/72Nm blended yarns were made simultaneously with same materials to minimize the error. Yarn count, twist, unevenness, hairiness, bending properties, and compression properties of the yarns were measured and discussed with MTS spun yarn & ring spun yarn.
This study surveys the physical properties of Solo-spun fabrics related to the characteristics of Solo-spun yarns, which were described in previous reports. For this purposes, 6 kinds of fabrics were woven on the pilot loom. 3 kinds of Solo-spun yarns with the 3 level of twist mutiplier of Nm 1/30 and 3 kinds of conventional ring-spun yarns with the same levels of twist multipliers of the same yarn counts. The fabrics were of 2/2 twill and clear-cut finished. The physical properties were surveyed by means of KES-FB system. Solo-spun fabrics seemed to be stiffer than ring spun fabrics as showing the lower extensibility with higher tensile energy, the higher bending rigidity, and the higher shear rigidity. Solo-spun fabrics showed the lower value in surface friction coefficient and surface roughness. For fabric abrasion tests, Solo-spun fabrics showed the higher pill resistance.
This study surveys the fiber behavior in yarn formation and the Physical properties of Solo-spun yarn. The specimens were made by six types of Solo-spun rollers with fixed twist multiplier In the previous part, the physical properties such as yarn count, evenness, strength, and breaking elongation of these yarns were compared with the properties of ring spun yarns and analysed with the mechanism of Solo-spun yarn formation. In the second part of this report, the abrasion resistance and hairiness were discussed with respect to the micro yarn structures. The narrower the groove width of Solo-spun roller is, the more active the bulk fiber migration is. The Solo-spun yarn structure has two groups. One is shorter than the other one in longitudinal direction of yarn and has the same structure as ring-spun yarn, which is derived from the smooth zone on the surface of Solo-spun roller. The other one is longer than the former and there are the wrapping fibers. This part is derived from the conflicted grooves on the surface of Solo-spun roller.
This study surveys the fiber behavior in yarn formation and the physical properties of Solo-spun yarn. The specimens were made by six types of Solo-spun rollers with fixed twist multiplier. The physical properties such as yarn count, evenness, strength, and breaking elongation of these yarns were compared with the properties of ring spun yarns and analysed with the mechanism of Solo-spun yarn formation. The grooves on the surface of Solo-spun roller divide the web and interfere the twist propagation. These phenomena cause the uneven draft and the fly of fiber, so the Solo-spun yarn becomes finer than fing-spun yarn and the yarn breaking strength and elongation deteriorate, but these demerits can be improved with rounding the protruded edge of Solo-spun roller grooves.
The mechanical properties of developed fabrics which were composed of soluble yarns and stretch fibers were analyzed using the Kawabata Evaluation System. The following findings were obtained from this investigation. Fabrics woven with lightweight yarns can be easily deformed by external forces. But when the fabric were woven using thick lightweight yarns reduced the slippage between the fibers, which makes it difficult to deform due to external force, thereby maintaining a certain space from the human body. As for the weight of the fabric per unit thickness, it was found that fabrics were compose of lightweight spun yarn was lightweight relatively. Lightweight yarns were more flexible than regular yarns because of the reduced bending and shear properties that greatly affect the lattice pattern. smoother, more flexible, and the better the bend was recovered. As fabrics increased content of using of lightweight spun yarn was increased flexible and smooth, and bending recovery.
This paper investigated the characteristics of the physical properties of woven fabrics according to the yarn structure and fibre property. It was found that wicking property of woven fabrics made of sheath/core hybrid yarn were better than those of siro spun and siro-fil hybrid yarns, which was caused by platform for transport of moisture vapor by filaments on the core part of sheath core hybrid yarns. In drying property, the fabric specimen woven by PP/Tencel sheath core hybrid yarns as a warp and Coolmax/Tencel spun yarn as a weft showed quick drying property, which was caused by the sheath core hybrid yarn structure as drainage of water moisture and coolmax fibre characteristics as quick dry material. Concerning to breathability and thermal conductivity as heat transport phenomena, it was observed that breathability of fabrics woven with hybrid yarns such as sheath core and siro-fil in the warp and hi-multi filaments in the weft showed the lowest water vapor resistance, which was explained as due to for air gap in the fibres of the spun yarns to restrict the wet heat transport from perspiration vapor. Thermal conductivities of the fabrics woven with PET/Tencel siro-fil yarns in the weft and hybrid yarns such as sheath core and siro-fil in the warp revealed the highest values, which was observed as due to higher thermal conductivity of PET than PP and more contact point between fibres in the siro-fil and sheath core hybrid yarns.
This research compared three methods for producing and processing nanocomposite polypropylene filament yarns with permanent antimicrobial efficiency. The three methods used to mix antimicrobial agents based on silver nano particles with PP were as follows: 1) mixing of PP powder and inorganic nanocomposite filler with the appropriate concentration using a twin-screw extruder and preparing granules, 2) method 1 with a singlerather than twin-screw extruder, and 3) producing the masterbatch by a twin-screw extruder and blending it with PP in the melt spinning process. All pure polypropylene samples and other combined samples had an acceptable spinnability at the spinning temperature of $240^{\circ}C$ and take-up speed of 2,000 m/min. After producing as-spun filament yarns by a pilot plant, melt spinning machine, the samples were drawn, textured and finally weft knitted. The physical and structural properties (e.g., linear density, tenacity, breaking elongation, initial modulus, rupture work, shrinkage and crystallinity) of the as-spun and drawn yarns with constant and variable draw ratios (the variable draw ratio was used to gain a constant breaking elongation of 50%) were investigated and compared, while DSC, SEM and FTIR techniques were used to characterize the samples. Finally, the antibacterial efficiency of the knitted samples was evaluated. The experimental results revealed that the crystallinity reduction of the as-spun yarn obtained from method 1 (5%) was more than that of method 2 (3%), while the crystallinity of the modified as-spun yarns obtained with method 3 remained unchanged compared to pure yarn. However, the drawing procedure compensated for this difference. By applying methods 2 and 3, the drawing generally improved the tenacity and modulus of the modified fibers, whereas method 1 degraded the constant draw ratio. Although the biostatic efficiency of the nanocomposite yarns was excellent with all three methods, the modified fabrics obtained from methods 1 and 2 showed a higher bioactivity.
Polypropylene fibers, while having many advantages such as light weight, sweat fast drying, water-repellent, drainage, thermal insulation, anti-static property has a drawback in dyeing. In recent years, the development of dyeable polypropylene fibers has expanded its value in the textile market. The purpose of this study is to fabricate composite spun yarns using polypropylene, acrylic, rayon and wool and to analyze tensile properties, uniformity characteristics, bending properties, hairiness, and surface shape according to the degree of fineness and blended ratio. The specimens consisted of 100% polypropylene spun yarn pp30, pp40 and ppa(pp/acrylic), ppr(pp/rayon), ppw(pp/wool), 5 altogether sed in this study. The results of the study are as follows. The breaking strength of polypropylene spun yarn blended with rayon and acrylic was higher than that of 100% polypropylene spun yarn. The polypropylene spun yarn is higher the fineness been shown to decrease the breaking strength and elongation. The bending properties of polypropylene spun yarns were in the order of ppa>ppr>pp40>pp30>ppw. The unevenness of ppw, ppr, and ppa was higher than pp40 and pp30. With the exception of ppw with crimp properties, pp30 and pp40 were found to have a hairiness index greater than ppr, ppa. In the microscopic photographs of polypropylene spun yarn, pp30, which had the highest hairiness index, was found to have a thick yarn and a large number of hairs, and ppw had hairs of 3 mm or more protruding elongated outwardly.
Recently, the spun blend yarns with staple fibers and filaments are being developed in the spinning process using an air blowing and electrostatic spinning technology(cyclone) in order to enhance the soft feeling and the fine count spun blend yarn manufacturing competitiveness. In this study, the appropriate separation condition of polyester multifilament was examined according to the treatment condition of conductive agents and voltage on polyester multifilament in the newly developed cyclone spinning process. And it was investigated the physical properties and dyeability of the cyclone wool/polyester spun blend yarns and its wool composite fabrics in comparison with existing sirofil wool/polyester spun blend yarn and its fabrics. As the result, it is determined that the newly developed cyclone wool/polyester spun blend yarn applied fabrics has a superior quality level in terms of practicality.
