PVA 용액법과 국산 산화알루미늄을 적용하여 대기 플라즈마 용사법으로 합성된 구형의 YAG:Ce3+ 형광체의 발광특성 (Optical Properties of Spherical YAG:Ce3+ Phosphor Powders Synthesized by Atmospheric Plasma Spraying Method Appling PVA Solution Route and Domestic Aluminium Oxide Seed)

  • YAG phosphor powders were fabricated by the atmospheric plasma spraying method with the spray-dried spherical YAG precursor. The YAG precursor slurry for the spray drying process was prepared by the PVA solution chemical processing utilizing a domestic easy-sintered aluminum oxide (Al2O3) powder as a seed. The homogenous and viscous slurry resulted in dense granules, not hollow or porous particles. The synthesized phosphor powders demonstrated a stable YAG phase, and excellent fluorescence properties of approximately 115% compared with commercial YAG:Ce3+ powder. The microstructure of the phosphor powder had a perfect spherical shape and an average particle size of approx imately 30 ㎛. As a result of the PKG test of the YAG phosphor powder, the synthesized phosphor powders exhibited an outstanding luminous intensity, and a peak wavelength was observed at 531 nm.

기계화학적 연마용 실리카 연마재의 형상과 크기가 산화막 연마율에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Size and Morphology of Silica Abrasives on Oxide Removal Rate for Chemical Mechanical Polishing)

  • 직접산화법으로 제조한 구형 실리카졸과 비구형 실리카졸의 입자크기와 형상에 따른 산화막의 기계화학적 연마율에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 구형 실리카졸은 금속 실리콘 분말로부터 직접산화법에 의해 10~100 nm까지 크기별로 제조하였다. 직접산화법으로 제조한 10 nm 크기의 실리카졸에 산, 알콜, 실란과 같은 응집유도제에 의한 첨가하여 입자간 응집을 유도한 시드 졸을 제조하고, 여기에 실리콘 분말과 알칼리 촉매를 투입하여 직접산화법으로 입자를 성장하여, 두 개 이상의 입자가 응집되어 있는 실리카 시드의 형상이 유지된 상태에서 성장한 응집 비구형 실리카졸을 제조하였다. 이를 산화막 CMP에 적용하여 구형 및 비구형 실리카졸의 입자형상 및 크기에 따른 연마율을 비교하였다. 구형 실리카의 경우, 입자크기가 증가할수록 연마율은 높아졌고, 비구형 실리카졸은 평균입경이 유사한 크기의 구형 실리카 보다 더욱 높은 연마율을 나타내었다.

Preparation and evaluation of ethylcellulose microcapsules of indomethacin

  • In domethacin was microencapsulated with ethylcellulose using a modified spherical agglomeration process, aiming at a sustained release proparation without side effects on the stomach. The surface morphology of the microcapsules was examined using scanning electron microscopy. The microcapsules were porous and spherical, and their porosity increased with increasing the viscosity of ethylcellulose. In vitro dissolution process followed Higuchi's diffusion model for first 3 hr. Release rate of the drug from microcapsules decreased as the viscosity of ethylcellulose was decreased. The release rate also decreased with increasing the microcapsule size. The microcapsules induced less gastric ulcer in rats than raw drug.

전남지방(全南地方) 소의 Buxtonella sulcata 감염실태(感染實態)와 충(蟲)의 형태(形態) (Incidence and Morphology of Buxtonella sulcata from Cattle in Chonnam Area)

  • Samples of feces from 1,080 cattle in Chonnam area were examined for Buxtonella sulcata, Of these, 231 cattle (21.4%) were found to be infected with the ciliate. The incidence was higher in the dairy cattle than in the beef cattle. The cysts of the ciliate are almost spherical or sub-spherical and the mean length of $79.58{\pm}11.76{\mu}m$ corresponds quite closely with the mean width of $77.29{\pm}11.41{\mu}m$. The trophozoite is characterized by the position of the cytostome near the open cytopyge and by the curved groove running down from cytostome to the end of the body. Macronuclei of the cyst and trophozoite were only stained green by MFS solution.

Preparation and Characterization of Europium-doped Gadolinium Oxide Phosphors Using Oxalate Coprecipitation Method

  • To synthesize $Gd_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ phosphor, gadolinium-europium oxalate precursors were prepared from oxalic acid, NaOH or aqueous ammonia via coprecipitation method. The obtained precursors were heat-treated and then characterized by XRD, SEM and PL. The kinds and amounts of coprecipitant (NaOH or aqueous ammonia) were found to affect the powder morphology and properties of gadolinium-europium oxalate precursors. Two crystalline precursors and one amorphous precursor were synthesized. The nanometer-sized amorphous gadolinium-europium oxalate precursor was first prepared using the oxalate coprecipitation technique. The calcined powders obtained from the amorphous precursor were nearly spherical in shape, and a narrow size distribution was obtained. The NaOH coprecipitant was more effective in the preparation of nanometer-sized spherical powders. A thermal decomposition process was conducted for the three kinds of precursors. The photoluminescence property was also measured as a function of europium content, and concentration quenching occurred for samples with europium concentrations of over 10 mol%.

  • Nano- sized spherical $MgB_2$ Powders were synthesized by spray Pyrolysis method. The Influence of solution concentration and furnace reaction temperature on morphology and average particle size were investigated. For adequate preparation conditions, it has mostly spherical, solid and narrow particle size distribution. Average particle size$(X_{50})$ distribution was below 100 nm. The critical temperature for the synthesized $MgB_2$ was around 36K.

  • Rheocasting of AZ91D magnesium alloys yielded the microstructure consisted of the spherical primary particles in the matrix which is different from conventional casting. Rheocast ingots were produced under various processing conditions using batch type rheocaster. Morphology of primary particles was changed from rosette-shape to spherical shape with increasing stirring rate$(V_s)$ and decreasing isothermal stirring temperature$(T_s)$. With increasing $V_s$, more effective shearing between the particles occurred rather than the agglomeration and clustering, so the primary particle size decreased. But with decreasing $T_s$, primary particle size increased mainly due to sintering and partially Ostwald ripening. The sphericity of primary particles increased with increasing $V_s$ and decreasing $T_s$ due to enhanced abrasion among the primary particles. The uniformity of primary particle size increased with increasing Vs and $T_s$.

Ethylene Polymerization Using (n-BuCp)$_{2}ZrCl_{2}$ Catalyst Activated with a Cross-linked MAO-Supported Cocatalyst

  • A new type of cross-linked methylaluminoxane (MAO)-supported cocatalyst has been prepared by the reaction of a soluble MAO and a cross-liking agent such as an aromatic diamine compound. The cross-linked MAO-supported cocatalyst was used for the polymerization of ethylene in the presence of bis(n-butylcyclopentadienyl) zirconium dichloride, (n-BuCp)$_2$ZrCl$_2$. The catalyst activity of (n-BuCp)$_2$ZrCl$_2$ cocatalyzed with the new supported cocatalyst was higher than that of the commercial silica-supported MAO (SMAO) cocatalyst. The molecular weight and the bulk density of the polyethylene produced by using the new supported cocatalyst were slightly higher than those of polyethylene synthesized using commercial SMAO. The resulting polyethylene particles possess spherical morphologies with very few fine particles.

고발광 ${Zn_2}{SiO_4}$:Mn 형광체의 제조 및 특성 (Synthesis and Characterization of High Luminance ${Zn_2}{SiO_4}$:Mn Phosphors)

  • In order to improve luminescence prperty of phosphors, we have synthesized Zn2SiO4:Mn phosphors by a new chemical synthetic route, i.e., the homogeneous precipitation method. This method has featured that the formation of phosphoris completed at relatively low temperature of 105$0^{\circ}C$ and the particle morphology exhibits spherical shape to be well-dispersed and uniform size. At all the Mn concentration explored, phosphors prepared by this method have exhibited the improved emission intensities. In particular, the emission intensities of phosphors with Mn doping contents between 1 at% and 3.5 at% were higher about 40% than that of commercial phosphor. On the other hand, the decay time has been decreased from 23 ms to 11 ms with increasing Mn concentration. In addition, the phosphor composition containing 3 at% Mn has displayed the most saturated color.

  • The MIM technology is an alternative process for fabricating near net shape components that usually uses gas atomised powders with small size $(<\;20\;{\mu}m)$ and spherical shape. In this work, the possibility of changing partially or totally spherical powder by an irregular and/or coarse one that is cheaper than the former was investigated. In this way, different bronze 90/10 components were fabricated by mixing three different types of powder, gas and water atomised with different particle sizes, in order to evaluate how the particle shape and size affect the MIM process.
