Parallel Contact Treatment and Parallel Performance of Impact Simulation Based on Lagrangian Scheme (Lagrangian 기법에 의한 충돌 해석 시 접촉처리의 병렬화 및 병렬효율 평가)

  • The evaluation of parallel performance of a high speed impact simulation is not an easy task because not only the development of parallel explicit code is difficult but also a large number of processors is not easily accessible. In this paper, the parallel performance of a new Lagrangian FEM impact code carried out on cluster supercomputer has been described in high speed range. In the case of metal sphere impacting to oblique plate, the overall speed-up continuously increases even up to 128 CPUs. Investigation of elapsed time of each part reveals that most of the inefficiency comes from the load imbalance of contact.

  • This paper proposes high speed SRM drive system for blower with a new 4-level inverter and precise excitation position generator. For the high speed blower, a proper inverter and control method are proposed and the output characteristics are analyzed. In order to get a fast build-up and demagnetization of excitation a current, 4-level inverter system is proposed. The proposed 4-level inverter has additional charge capacitor, power switch and diode in the conventional asymmetric converter. The charged high voltage is supplied to the phase winding for fast current build-up, and demagnetization current is charged to additional capacitor of 4-level inverter. In addition, a precise excitation position generator can reduce turn-on and turn-off angle error according to sampling period of digital control system. The proposed high speed SRM drive system is verified by computer simulation and experimental result.

  • The turnout system is typical railway facility to be in the way of conventional railway line's speed-up. The KNR(Korean National Railroad) :has a speed limit regulation(130km/h) for the passing the turnout to guarantee a safety. This research had been performed to confirm the propriety of this regulation by using experimental and analytical way before it was carried out. The reasonableness of the speed-limit regulation was judged base on the several experiments. It was proved that the regulation was not useless as it had been regarded and very important guide at least up to now.

The Sinkage Speed by Ship's under Water Damage (선저파공이 침수속도에 미치는 영향)

  • Every ship might be exposed to collision, grounding and/or various accidents. They may make some underwater holes on the hull. An underwater damage would cause her loss of buoyancy, trim, and inclination. Although a ship has some provisions against these accidents, if the circumstance is serious, she would be sunk or upsetted. Because of varieties of type of accidents, one could not prepare all of them. Many subdivision could prevent them, but it is difficult to realize it due to rising costs. This paper deals with physical phenomena of sinkage and an application on box type ship, and some results are earned as follows; 1. sinkage speed up to the level of the damage hole is increased proportionally, and is decreased proportionally after filling the level. 2. the curve of draft shows cup type of second order polynomial up to the damage hole level, and shows cap type of second order polynomial after filling the level. 3. if damage occurs beneath half of the draft, changes of head and displacement, and sinking speed follow almost straight lines. 4. by careful observation, sinkage speed could be predicted.

  • A study on Technical Specifications of the current collection system in G7 Korean High Speed Train Project is performed in this paper. First, an appropriate level of contact wire tension for 350km/h commercial operation is proposed based on the foreign high speed train operation experiences and a relevant technical criterion, Second, two optimized design specifications of the pantograph for G7 Korean High Speed Train are proposed based on current collection quality. In order to perform design optimization, a formulation on the follow-up characteristics of a pantograph with 3 levels of masse-spring-damper is derived in this paper. Dynamic design parameters of the pantograph are adjusted to maximize follow-up capability at the dropper and span passing frequencies.

  • Safety of railroad is result of reliability which is received from test & evaluation of system. Railroad system is consisted of various sub system such as vehicle, supply of electric power, signal, communication, rail track construction, operation. To secure safety of railroad, evaluation about parts, assembly, sub system, whole system etc.. that compose railroad is essential. In this paper, I wish to describe for results that analyze korean tilting vehicle's derailment coefficient developed by national research achievement. Confirmed that is possible even if speed up, curved line department running speed that estimate korean tilting vehicle's running safety in curved line track of Jungang Line about 20 km/h than present operating speed.

  • This paper reports experimental results on microdrilling process for silicon parts used in semiconductor equipments. An experimental system was developed consisting of a high speed precision machine, microscope system, and project profile instrument. The experimental results indicate that the amount of chipping at the entrance and exit of micro hole decreases as the spindle speed increases up to 18,000 rpm. At higher spindle speed, however, the amount of chipping increases rapidly. The amount of chipping and infeed rate show proportional relationship up to 20 m/min of infeed rate. Beyond that infeed rate, however, sudden increase in the amount of chipping has occurred.

Performance Analysis of a Flow Passage Opening Device through Low Speed Aircraft Captive Flight Tests

  • In a pressurized fuel supply system of aircraft, a flow passage opening device is required to keep fuel continuously transferred from one tank to the other. The device utilizes balancing weights in order to follow up an acceleration at special conditions such as negative g. It is very difficult to test the device in a real high-speed and high-altitude test since severe test conditions and expensive supports are needed. Therefore, this paper deals with performance analysis of a flow passage opening device through low speed aircraft captive flight tests (CFT) including roll and negative-g maneuvers. It is shown that balancing weights in the device can open the passage in accordance with fuel position.

  • Described in this paper are the dynamic model and the dynamic performance of catenary-pantograph system for TGV-K(maximum operating speed of 300km/hr). Dynamic simulations showed that the system satisfies the performance criteria such as contact loss ratio, contact force and lift-off of the contact wire. It is also shown by the simulations that the dynamic behavior and contact performance of the system at the operating speed of 350km/hr are found unacceptable. Design parameters of the catenary-pantograph system should be optimized for the speed-up of the TGV-K.
