This study investigates the characteristics of surface wind in North Korea using mesoscale model WRF. Hourly wind fields were simulated for one year representing mean characteristics of an 11-years period from 1998 to 2008. The simulations were performed on a nested grid from 27 km to 1 km horizontal resolution. The simulated wind map at 10 m above ground level is verified with 27 surface observations. Statistical verification skill score indicates that wind speed tends to overestimate in surface layer. The average RMSE value of the simulated wind speed is around $2.8ms^{-1}$. Wind map in North Korea showed that strong wind speed is distributed in the mountainous and western coastal region. The results of this wind mapping study contribute for the founding of wind energy potential location.
Database are developed to control measured settlement data under construction in Gyungbu High Speed Railway from Daegu to Busan. This means that data having different type at different site could be managed in a unified way. The database includes algorithm to evaluate embankment settlement with settlement data at the surface of embankment and ground settlement data. And also, it has a function to analyse the causes of large settlement over allowable level and high settlement speed based on the log data, embankment specification, physical characteristics of embankment materials.
Since the application of chemicals in confined spaces under the canopy of an orchard is hazardous work, it is needed to develop an autonomous guidance system for an orchard sprayer. The autonomous guidance system developed in this research could steer the vehicle by tracking an overhead guidance rail, which was installed on an existing frame structure. The autonomous guidance system consisted of an 80196 kc microprocessor, an inclinometer, two interface circuits of actuators for steering and ground speed control, and a fuzzy control algorithm. In addition, overhead guidance rails for both straight and curved paths were devised, and a trolley was designed to move smoothly along the overhead guidance rails. Evaluation tests showed that the experimental vehicle could travel along the desired path at a ground speed of 30 $\sim$ 50 cm/s with a RMS error of 5 cm and maximum deviation of less than 12 cm. Even when the vehicle started with an initial offset or a deflected heading angle, it could move quickly to track the desired path after traveling 2 $\sim$ 3 m. The vehicle could also complete turns with a curvature of 1 m. However, at a ground speed of 50 cm/s, the vehicle tended to over-steer, resulting in a zigzag motion along the straight path, and tended to turn outward from the projected line of the guidance rail.

We propose an automatic localization technique based on Uniform Arc Length Sampling (UALS) of 360 degree range sensor data. The proposed method samples 3D points from dense a point-cloud which is acquired by the sensor, registers the sampled points to a digital surface model(DSM) in real-time, and determines the location of an Unmanned Ground Vehicle(UGV). To reduce the sampling and registration time of a sequence of dense range data, 3D range points are sampled uniformly in terms of ground sample distance. Using the proposed method, we can reduce the number of 3D points while maintaining their uniformity over range data. We compare the registration speed and accuracy of the proposed method with a conventional sample method. Through several experiments by changing the number of sampling points, we analyze the speed and accuracy of the proposed method.

Recently, the occurrence of landslides has been increasing over the years due to the extreme weather event. Developments of landslides monitoring technology that reduce damage caused by landslide are urgently needed. Therefore, in this study, a strain ratio sensor was developed to predict the ground behavior during the slope failure, and the change in surface ground displacement was observed as slope failed on the field model experiment. As a result, in the slope failure, the ground displacement process increases the risk of collapse as the inverse displacement approaches zero. It is closely related to the prediction of precursor. In all cases, increase in displacement and reverse speed of inverse displacement with time was observed during the slope failure, and it is very important event for monitoring collapse phenomenon of risky slopes. In the future, it can be used as disaster prevention technology to contribute in reduction of landslide damage and activation of measurement industry.
The problems associated with constructing high-speed concrete track embankments over soft compressible soil has lead to the development and/or extensive use of many of the ground improvement techniques used today. Drains, surcharge loading, and geosynthetic reinforcement, have all been used to solve the settlement and embankment stability issues associated with construction on soft soils. Geosynthetic-reinforced embankment supporting piles method consist of vertical columns that are designed to transfer the load of the embankment through the soft compressible soil layer to a firm foundation and one or more layers of geosynthetic reinforcement placed between the top of the columns and the bottom of the embankment. In the paper, the evaluations of a seismic performance of geosynthetic-reinforced embankment piles for a ultra soft ground during earthquake were studied. the equivalent linear analysis was performed by SHAKE for soft ground. A seismic performance analysis of Piles was performed by GROUP PILE and PLAXIS for geosynthetic-reinforced embankment piles. Guidelines is required for pile displacement during earthquake. Conclusions of the studies come up with a idea for soil stiffness, conditions of pile cap, pile length and span.
The wind speed at the altitude around 300 m is much higher and less variable than at the altitude around 80 m which is the same height of the MW class tower turbine's hub height. The wind power density is increased 0.37 W/$m^2$ per meter at the altitude around 6 to 7 km and 0.25 W/$m^2$ per meter at the altitude around 80 to 500 m. There are two types of power generation systems using lifting bodies. The one is that The generator is installed in the ground station and stretched into the lifting body through the tether. The other is that the generator is installed in the lifting body and stretched into the ground station through the tether. Many kinds of lifting bodies are also researched in the world, called kites, wings, single or twin aerostat, and so on. This article introduced the technical development status and the market prospects of the high altitude wind power generation system all over the world in detail.
The numerical simulations of flowfield and pollutant dispersion over two-dimensional hills of various shapes are described. The Reynolds-averaged Wavier-Stokes equations and concentration diffusion equation based on the gradient diffusion theory have been applied to the atmospheric shear flow over the bell-shaped hills which are basic components of the complex terrain. The flow characteristics such as velocity profiles of the geophysical boundary layer, speed-up phenomena, mean pollutant concentration profiles are compared with experimental data to validate the present numerical procedure and it has been found that the present numerical results agree well with experiments and other numerical data. It has been also found that the distributions of ground level concentration are strongly influenced by the source location and height.
Citic Tower is the first over-500 m-tall super highrise building in the world, located in the high seismic intensity area with paek ground acceleration over 0.2g in 475 years. This project is unique in its complexity, large volume, and challenging site conditions (zero site for construction). The traditional techniques can hardly meet safty, quality and schedule requirements of the construction. This article introduces the key construction technologies that are innovatively developed and applied in Citic Tower project construction, including intelligent super-high-rise building integrated construction platform system, independently developed by the CCTEB; Jump-Lift Elevator, which is the first of the kind with service height over 500 meters; combined temporary-and-permanent fire protection systems. The BIM technology is also applied in this project. Through technical innovation, and utilization of technologies, construction speed and safety had been greatly improved.
Wind tunnel experiments were conducted to investigate the wind characteristics in the mountainous valley terrain with 4 simplified valley models and a 1:500 scale model of an existing valley terrain in the simulated atmospheric neutral boundary layer model. Measurements were focused on the mean wind flow and longitudinal turbulence intensity. The relationship between hillside slopes and the velocity speed-up effect were studied. By comparing the preliminary results obtained from the simplified valley model tests and the existing terrain model test, some fundamental information was obtained. The measured results indicate that it is inappropriate to describe the mean wind velocity profiles by a power law using the same roughness exponent along the span wise direction in the mountainous valley terrain. The speed-up effect and the significant change in wind direction of the mean flow were observed, which provide the information necessary for determining the design wind speed such as for a long-span bridge across the valley. The longitudinal turbulence intensity near the ground level is reduced due to the speed-up effect of the valley terrain. However, the local topographic features of a more complicated valley terrain may cause significant perturbation to the general wind field characteristics in the valley.
