Since CC-NUMA architecture has to access remote memory, the interconnection network determines the performance of the CC-NUMA system. Bus which has been used as a popular interconnection network has many limits in a large-scale system because of the limited physical scalability and bandwidth. The dual ring interconnection network, composed of high-speed point-to-point links, is made to resolve the defects of the bus for the large-scale system. However, it also has a problem, in that the response latency is rapidly increased when many nodes are attached to the snooping based CC-NUMA system with the dual ring. In this paper, we propose a ring architecture with repeater nodes in order to overcome the problem of the dual ring on a snooping based CC-NUMA system, and design a repeater node adapted to this architecture. We will also analyze the effects of proposed architecture on the system performance and the response latency by using a probability-driven simulator.
Recently, NAND flash memory has been widely used in embedded systems, personal computers, and server systems because of its attractive features, such as non-volatility, fast access speed, shock resistance, and low power consumption. Due to its hardware characteristics, specifically its 'erase-before-write' feature, Flash Translation Layer is required for using flash memory like hard disk drive. Many FTL schemes have been proposed, but conventional FTL schemes have problems such as block thrashing and block associativity problem. The KAST scheme tried to solve these problems by limiting the number of associations between data block and log block to K. But it has also block thrashing problem in random access I/O pattern. In this paper, we proposed a new FTL scheme, UDA-LBAST. Like KAST, the proposed scheme also limits the log block association, but does not limit data block association. So we could minimize the cost of merge operations, and reduce merge costs by using a new block reclaim scheme, log block garbage collection.
Purpose: Mee (Madhuca longifolia) is an economically important tree growing throughout Sri Lanka. Its importance is mainly attributed to its oil with high nutritional and medicinal values. However, an inefficient extraction method limits its use. This study revealed the possibility of extracting oil from mee seeds by using a screw-type oil expeller. Methods: A popular screw-type oil expeller was used in the experiment. Extract bar clearance and speeds of the main spiral shaft were altered to increase the oil expelling efficiency of the machine. The quality of refined oil at the optimum oil yield was determined by measuring the refractive index, saponification value, iodine value, unsaponifiable matter, free fatty acid, and specific gravity. Results: An optimum yield of 35% oil was obtained when the machine capacity was 30 kg/h and energy consumption was 0.13 kWh/kg. This optimum machine condition was observed at an extract bar clearance of 0.5 mm and a main spiral shaft speed of 90 rpm. The refractive index, saponification value, iodine value, unsaponifiable matter, free fatty acid, and specific gravity of the oil were 1.4, 203, 59, 3.5%, 0.2%, and 0.907 g/cm3 respectively. Color of the mee oil was closer to yellow, which is revealed by the lightness value (L) of 24.93 and positive value (b) of 11.81. Conclusion: The screw-type oil expeller can be used for economically extracting mee oil on a commercial scale.

This paper presents shape design, surface construction, and cutting path generation for the surface of marine ship propeller blades. A propeller blade should be designed to satisfy performance constraints that include operational speed which impacts rotations per minutes, stresses related to deliverable horst power, and the major length of the marine ship which impacts the blade size and shape characteristics. Primary decision variables that affect efficiency in the design of a marine ship propeller blade are the blade diameter and the expanded area ratio. The blade design resulting from these performance constraints typically consists of sculptured surfaces requiring four or five axis contoured machining. In this approach a standard blade geometry description consisting of blade sections with offset nominal points recorded in an offset table is used. From this table the composite Bezier surface geometry of the blade is created. The control vertices of the Hazier surface patches are determined using a chord length fitting procedure from tile offset table data. Cutter contact points and path intervals are calculated to minimize travel distance and production time while maintaining a cusp height within tolerance limits. Long path intervals typically generate short tool paths at the expense of increased however cusp height. Likewise, a minimal tool path results in a shorter production time. Cutting errors including gouging and under-cut, which are common errors in machining sculptured surfaces, are also identified for both convex and concave surfaces. Propeller blade geometry is conducive to gouging. The result is a minimal error free cutting path for machining propeller blades for marine ships.

This study deals with the side right-angle collisions of 4-legged signalized intersections in Cheongju. The goals are to analyze the characteristics of accidents and to find out the accident factors that affect severity using ordered probit model. In pursuing the above, the study uses the data of 580 side right-angle collisions occurred at the 181 intersections(2004-2005). The analyses show that more accidents were occurred in the nighttime and in going straight. The main cause was analyzed to be the red-light violation. Also, the main results of modeling are the following, First, the likelihood ratio index is 0.094 and t-ratio values that explain goodness of fit are significant. Second, minor road traffic volumes, minor road lanes, major road left-turn lanes, major road left-turn signal, major road yellow signal time, cross angle, major and minor road speed limits are significant factors affecting crash severities at signalized intersections.
The purpose of this paper is to discuss possibilities of applying growth curve models, such as Logistic, Log-Logistic, Log-Normal, Gompertz and Weibull, to three specific technology areas of Fishery Science and Technology in the process of measuring their technology level between Korea and countries with the state-of-the art level. Technology areas of hazard control of organism, environment restoration, and fish cluster detect were selected for this study. Expert panel survey was conducted to construct relevant panel data for years of 2013, 2016, and a future time of approaching the theoretical maximum technology level. The size of data was 70, 70 and 40 respectively. First finding is that estimation of shape and location parameters of each model was statistically significant, and lack-of-fit test using estimated parameters was statistically rejected for each model, meaning all models were good enough to apply for measuring technology levels. Second, three models other than Pearl and Gompertz seemed very appropriate to apply despite the fact that previous case studies have used only Gompertz and Pearl. This study suggests that Weibull model would be a very valid candidate for the purpose. Third, fish cluster detect technology level is relatively higher for both Korea and a country with the state-of-the-art among three areas as of 2013. However, all three areas seem to be approaching their limits(highest technology level point) until 2020 for countries with the state-of-the-art. This implies that Korea might have to speed up her research activities in order to catch up them prior to 2020. Final suggestion is that future study may better apply various and more appropriate models respectively considering each technology characteristics and other factors.

Previous count models using fixed parameter can not consider the unobserved heterogeneity, as the standard error of the count value is underestimated, excessive t-values are derived thereby reducing the reliability of the model. Also, the study of unsignalized intersections are inadequate because of the difficulty of collecting data and statistical limits for accurate analytical processes compared to the signalized intersections. The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting traffic accidents by constructing the count model using random parameters, and it aimed to distinguish between existing studies based on the rural unsignalized intersections. As a result of the analysis, 7 variables were presented as significant variables, and 2 variables(presence of crosswalk, speed limit) were presented as random parameter.

Reliable high-speed data communications over insufficient channel bandwidth is one of the major challenges of harsh wireless environments that push the achievable spectral efficiency far below its theoretical limits. A Quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) scheme is a userful modulation technique for achieving high data rate transmission without increasing the bandwidth of wireless communication systems. The exact general bit error rate (BER) expression of arbitrary rectangular quadrature amplitude modulation has not yet been derived. In this paper, a generalized closed-form expression for the BER performance of rectangular QAM with Gray code bit mapping is derived and analyzed in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. First we analyze the BER performance of an I-ary PAM scheme. Regular patterns in the k-th bit error probability are observed while developing the EBR expression. From these patterns we provide the exact and general closed-from EBR expression of an I-ary PAM. Then we present a general closed-from expression for BER of an arbitrary IXJ rectangular QAM by considering that this signaling format consists of two PAM scheme, i.e., I-ary and J-ary PAM. A simple approximate BER expression for rectangular QAM is given as well.

This paper describes a novel multiplexing scheme for delay-sensitive multiple VBR-coded bit streams in live multimedia service offered to high-speed networks. The primary goal of multiplexing in this paper is to keep delay limits of each bit streams and to enhance network resource utilization when they no multiplexed and transmitted over network. For this aim, this paper presents a dynamical control scheme which does not cause violation of any delay constraints to each bit steam. The scheme is based on the assumption that recent behavior of the each bit scream has high correlation with near-term future behavior. Such property is used to make as flat as possible by both temporal averaging on a stream-by-stream and spatial averaging is introduced when multiple VBR-coded bit streams are multiplexed. The effectiveness of the scheme is evaluated by several simulation using an MPEG-coded video trace of Star_wars and it is shown that the proposed scheme can effectively reduce the feat rate md coefficient of variation of the multiplexed transmission rate.
As existing analog video surveillance systems could save and retrieve data only in a limited space within short distance, it had many constraints in developing into various application systems. However, on the back of development of the Internet and computer technologies, digital video surveillance systems can be controlled from a remote location by web browser without space limits. Moreover, data compression and management technologies with Index Search algorithm make it possible to efficiently handling, storing, and retrieving a large amount of data and further motion detection algorithm enhances a recording speed and efficiency for a practical application, that is, a practical remote recordable video surveillance system using our efficient algorithms as mentioned, called WebCam. The WebCam server system can intelligently record and save video images digitized through efficient database management, monitor and control cameras in a remote place through user authentication, and search logs.
