In this paper, DC-free and minimum bandwidth binary line codes with look-up table are proposed and their performances are analyzed. As results of performance analysis, the proposed codes are shown to have spectral nulls at DC and Nyquist frequency. Among the proposed codes, binary line codes of which both codeword digital sum and alternating digital sum are zero have lower code rate but better spectral characteristics. Furthermore, binary line codes which consist of all codewords including those with nonzero digital sum and alternating digital sum have worese spectral characteristics but higher code rate.

A computer simulation was performed to distinguish quantitatively a color reaction in a urine analysis systems by using the spectral power distribution of LEDs, the spectral reflectance of a urine strip, and the spectral sensitivity of photodiode. The CIE tristimulus values and CIE chromaticity coordinates ware modified to be conformable with real color reactions in a urine strips. Results on color simulation showed a of real color in comparison with those obtained by Colorimeter CM2C(Color Savvy).
In this study a new phase separated spectral analysis algorithm is proposed to identify CSB vibration mode directly from ex-core neutron signals. Ex-core neutron signals can be decomposed into the global, core support barrel (CSB) beam mode, and CSB shell mode components by the new phase separation algorithm based on the characteristics of Fourier transform. By using the proposed algorithm and the conventional spectral analysis the vibration mode of the CSB and the fuel assembly of Ulchin-1 NPP were identified from measured ex-core neutron signals.
Microphone is the first link in the speech recognition system. Depending on its type and mounting position, the microphone can significantly distort the spectrum and affect the performance of the speech recognition system. In this paper, characteristics of the speech signal for different microphones and microphone distances are investigated both in time and frequency domains. In the time domain analysis, the average signal-to-noise ration is measure ration is measured for the database we collected depending on the microphones and microphone distances. Mel-frequency spectral coefficients and mel-frequency cepstrum are computed to examine the spectral characteristics. Analysis results are discussed with our findings, and the result of recognition experiments is given.
The measurement of magnetic field is performed AC magnetic field emission density in driver cab and saloon's compartment of rolling stock. In order to measure magnetic-field emission, a three-axial magnetic-field sensor is used and connected to data process system. The AC magnetic field is checked and analysis through BNC output, DAQ cad and notebook PC. The spectral analysis is performed by short time Fourier transform(STFT) for time-domain emission signal.

In the present study, the characteristics of spectral peakedness parameter $Q_p$, bandwidth parameter ${\varepsilon}$, and spectral width parameter ${\nu}$ were analyzed as a first step to define the swell waves quantitatively. For the analysis, the joint probability density function of significant wave heights and peak periods were newly developed. The MCMC(Markov Chain Monte Carlo) simulations have been performed to generate the significant wave heights and peak periods from the developed probability density functions. Applying the simulated significant wave heights and peak periods to the theoretical wave spectrum models, the spectral shapes parameters were obtained and analyzed. Among the spectral shape parameters, only the spectral peakedness parameter $Q_p$, is shown to be independent with the significant wave height and peak wave period. It also best represents the peakedness of the spectral shape, and henceforth $Q_p$ should be used to define the swell waves with a wave period. For the field verification of the results, wave data obtained from Hupo port and Ulleungdo were analyzed and results showed the same trend with the MCMC simulation results.
In this paper, an illuminant estimation algorithm of a chromatic digital images proposed. The proposed illumination estimation method has two phases. First, the surface spectral reflectances are recovered. In this case, the surface spectral reflectances recovered are limited to the maximum highlight region (MHR) which is the most achromatic and highly bright region of an image after applying intermediate color constancy process using a modified gray world algorithm. Next, the surface reflectances of the maximum highlight region are estimated using the principal component analysis method along with a set of given Munsell samples. Second, the spectral distribution of reflected lights of MHR is selected from the spectral database. That is a color difference is compared between the reflected lights of the MHR and the spectral database that is the set of reflected lights built by the given Munsell samples and a set of illuminants. Then the closest colors from the spectral database are selected. Finally, the illuminant of an image can be calculated dividing the average spectral distributions of reflected lights of MHR by the average surface reflectances of the MHR. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm, experiments with artificial and real captured color-biased scenes were performed and numerical comparison examined. The proposed method was effective in estimating the spectral of the given illuminant sunder various illuminants.
As FGM (functionally graded material) bars which vibrate in axial or longitudinal direction have great potential for applications in diverse engineering fields, developing a reliable mathematical model that provides very reliable vibration and wave characteristics of a FGM axial bar, especially at high frequencies, has been an important research issue during last decades. Thus, as an extension of the previous works (Hong et al. 2014, Hong and Lee 2015) on three-layered FGM axial bars (hereafter called FGM bars), an enhanced spectral element model is proposed for a FGM bar model in which axial and radial displacements in the radial direction are treated more realistic by representing the inner FGM layer by multiple sub-layers. The accuracy and performance of the proposed enhanced spectral element model is evaluated by comparison with the solutions obtained by using the commercial finite element package ANSYS. The proposed enhanced spectral element model is also evaluated by comparison with the author's previous spectral element model. In addition, the effects of Poisson's ratio on the dynamics and wave characteristics in example FGM bars are numerically investigated.

We present a hybrid method for spectral reflectivity recovery, using 3D extrapolation as a supplemental method for 3D interpolation. The proposed 3D extrapolation is an extended version of 3D interpolation based on the barycentric algorithm. It is faster and more accurate than the conventional spectral-recovery techniques of principal-component analysis and nonnegative matrix transformation. Four different extrapolation techniques (based on nearest neighbors, circumcenters, in-centers, and centroids) are formulated and applied to recover spectral reflectivity. Under the standard conditions of a D65 illuminant and 1964 $10^{\circ}$ observer, all reflectivity data from 1269 Munsell color chips are successfully reconstructed. The superiority of the proposed method is demonstrated using statistical data to compare coefficients of correlation and determination. The proposed hybrid method can be applied for fast and accurate spectral reflectivity recovery in image processing.
