This paper proposes a spatio-temporal correlation algorithm that takes advantage of the spatial and temporal correlations in video streams for error concealment. The spatio-temporal correlation algorithm sets the neighborhood area of the damaged part as a reference window, then finds the area that best matches the reference window in the previous frame. The best-matched area in the previous frame replaces the damaged part in the current frame. The results of ten variations of the proposed algorithm are compared with conventional error concealment methods. These methods include the ones applicable to P-frames as well as I-frames. The comparison results show that the proposed algorithm is very efficient for l-frame error concealment with a large motion between frames.
In video coding, motion estimation is a process to estimate the pixel of the current frame from the reference frame, which affects directly the predictive quality and the encoding time. This paper is related to AHHS(Adaptive Hierarchical Hexagon Search) using spatio-temporal motion activity for fast motion estimation. The proposed method defines the spatio-temporal motion activity of the current macroblock using the motion vectors of its spatio-temporally adjacent macroblocks, and then conventional AHS(Adaptive Hexagon Search) is performed if the spatio-temporal motion activity is lower, otherwise, hierarchical hexagon search is performed on a multi-layered hierarchical space constructed by multiple sub-images with low frequency in wavelet transform. In the paper, based on computer simulation results for multiple video sequences with different motion characteristics, the performance of the proposed method was analysed and assessed in terms of the predictive quality and the computational time. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is both suitable for (quasi-) stationary and large motion searches. The proposed method could keep the merit of the adaptive hexagon search capable of fast estimating motion vectors and also adaptively reduce the local minima occurred in the video sequences with higher spatio-temporal motion activity.
In this paper, we propose a new 3D video coding method for heterogeneous display systems and network infrastructure over enhanced Access Grid (e-AG) using spatio-temporal scalability defined in MPEG-2. The proposed encoder produces several bit-streams for providing temporally and spatially scalable 3D video service. The generated bit-streams can be nelivered with proper spatio-temporal resolution according to network bandwidths and processing speeds, visualization capabilities of client systems. The functionality of proposed spatio-temporal scalability can be exploited for construction of highly scalable 3D video service in heterogeneous distributed environments.
Spatio-temporal databases have been mostly studied in the area of access methods. However, without considering an extraordinary update maintenance overhead after building up a spatio-temporal index, most indexing techniques have focused on fast query processing only. In this paper, we propose an efficient update management method that reduces the number of disk accesses required in order to apply the updates of moving objects to a spatio-temporal index. We consider realistic update patterns that can represent the movements of objects properly. We present a memory based structure that can efficiently maintain a small number of very frequently updating objects. For an experimental environment with realistic update patterns, the number of disk accesses of our method is about 40% lower than that of a general update method of existing spatio-temporal indexes.

Triangulation is a typical method to locate or identify the location, which requires inherently at least three pre-recognized reference points. In some cases, owing to out of reachability to communication facility the target node can not reachable always to three base stations. This paper presents a predictive method, which can estimate the location of the moving target node in real time even though the target could not get in touch with all three base stations. The method is based on the PID-controlled Moving Objects Spatio-Temporal Model Algorithm. This can predict the moving direction of the moving target, and then combine with the past target position information to judge accurately the location.

Advances in mobile techknowledges and supporting techniques require an effective representation and analysis of moving objects. Similarity search of moving object trajectories is an active research area in data mining. In this paper, we propose a trajectory search algorithm for spatio-temporal similarity of moving objects on road network. For this, we define spatio-temporal distance between two trajectories of moving objects on road networks, and propose a new method to measure spatio-temporal similarity based on the real road network distance. In addition, we propose a similar trajectory search algorithm that retrieves spatio-temporal similar trajectories in the road network. The algorithm uses a signature file in order to retrieve candidate trajectories efficiently. Finally, we provide performance analysis to show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
The composition of the 'The Game Story' should reflect the game play and development environment. To do that, I borrowed a coordinate format called 'Spatio-temporal Coordinate Array' that was not based on text-based storytelling. I wanted to create a way for the story to describe relationship between 'action' based on time and 'object' based on space. One way to do this was to analyze the concepts using a mystery game in which Spatio-temporal Array is a large role in user's decision-making. As a result, I found that the method -Spatio-temporal coordinates- was an editor containing game play, and a setting tool capable of being used as a conceptual diagram.
Agricultural meteorological information is an important resource that affects farmers' income, food security, and agricultural conditions. Thus, such data are used in various fields that are responsible for planning, enforcing, and evaluating agricultural policies. The meteorological information obtained from automatic weather observation systems operated by rural development agencies contains missing values owing to temporary mechanical or communication deficiencies. It is known that missing values lead to reduction in the reliability and validity of the model. In this study, the hierarchical Bayesian spatio-temporal model suggests replacements for missing values because the meteorological information includes spatio-temporal correlation. The prior distribution is very important in the Bayesian approach. However, we found a problem where the spatial decay parameter was not converged through the trace plot. A suitable spatial decay parameter, estimated on the bias of root-mean-square error (RMSE), which was determined to be the difference between the predicted and observed values. The latitude, longitude, and altitude were considered as covariates. The estimated spatial decay parameters were 0.041 and 0.039, for the spatio-temporal model with latitude and longitude and for latitude, longitude, and altitude, respectively. The posterior distributions were stable after the spatial decay parameter was fixed. root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), and bias were calculated for model validation. Finally, the missing values were generated using the independent Gaussian process model.
Spatio-temporal load forecasting (STLF) is a foundation for building the prediction-based power map, which could be a useful tool for the visualization and tendency assessment of urban energy application. Constructing one point-forecasting model for each electricity cell in the geographic space is possible; however, it is unadvisable and insufficient, considering the aggregation features of electricity cells and uncertainties in input variables. This paper presents a new STLF method, with a data-driven framework consisting of 3 subroutines: multi-level clustering of cells considering their aggregation features, load regression for each category of cells based on SLS-SVRNs (sparse least squares support vector regression networks), and interval forecasting of spatio-temporal load with sampled blind number. Take some area in Pudong, Shanghai as the region of study. Results of multi-level clustering show that electricity cells in the same category are clustered in geographic space to some extent, which reveals the spatial aggregation feature of cells. For cellular load regression, a comparison has been made with 3 other forecasting methods, indicating the higher accuracy of the proposed method in point-forecasting of spatio-temporal load. Furthermore, results of interval load forecasting demonstrate that the proposed prediction-interval construction method can effectively convey the uncertainties in input variables.

Various studies were performed for providing the latest spatio-temporal information in mobile GIS Environments. The two-way synchronization scheme collects updated spatio-temporal data in the field and synchronizes with a server by using the wireless network. However, the other mobile terminals have to perform periodically synchronizes with a server. In this paper, we propose the update propagation scheme about spatio-temporal data collected from the mobile terminal. The update propagation scheme does considering various factors where an influence is in the update propagation. Therefore, it provides various update propagation policies according to each factors.
