In this study, water pollution sources of 14 major tributaries of Han river and characteristics of water quality for each target streams were evaluated based on water quality data in 2007.1-2009.12 (14 data sets) using a statistical package, SPSS-17.0. Cluster analysis over time and space for each stream resulted in 4 groups for the spatial variations in which type and density of pollution sources in the basins showed the greatest impact on grouping. Moreover, cluster analysis for the time variation in which rainfall, temperature and eutrophication were shown to contribute to the clustering, produced 2 groups, from summer to fall (July-Oct.) and from winter to early summer (Nov.-June). Four factors were found as responsible for the data structure explaining 71-90% of the total variance of the data set depending on the streams and they were organic matter, nutrients, bacterial contamination. Factor analysis showed main factors (water pollutants) changed according to the season with different pattern for each stream. This study demonstrated that water quality of each stream could produce useful outcomes when factor and pollution source of basin were evaluated together.
Recently, natural environment is being forced by the quick increasing of population and industrialization, and especially, capacity and pollution of water resource is being come to the front. It needs to extract the accurate topological and hydrological parameters of watershed in order to manage water resource efficiently. But, these data are processed yet by manual work and simple operation in hydrological fields. In this paper, we presented algorithm that could extract topological any hydrological parameters over Sumjin watershed using GIS and RS and it gives the saving of data processing time and the confidency of data. The extraction procedure of topological characteristics and hydrological parameters is as below. First, watershed and stream are extracted by DEM and curve number is extracted throughout the overlay of landcov map and soil map. Also, we extracted surface parameters like watershed length and the slope of watershed length by Grid computation into watershed and stream. And we gave the method that could extract hydrologic parameters like Muskingum K and sub-basin lag time by executing computation into surface parameters and average SCS curve number being extracted.

odel). One of important tasks for hydrological analysis is the division of watershed. It can be an essential factor amThe main objective of this study is to extract of the geometric characteristics of the Pyongchang River basin, headwaters of the South Ran River. A GIS is capable of extracting various hydrological factors from DEM(digital elevation mong various geometric characteristics of watershed. In this study, watershed itself and other geometric factors of watershed are extracted from DEM by using a GIS technique. The manual process of tasks to obtain geometric characteristics of watershed is automated. by using the function of ARC/INFO software as a GIS package. Scanned data is used for this study and it is converted to DEM data Various forms of representation of spatial data are handled in main modules and a GRID module of ARC/INFO. A GRID module is used on a stream in order to define watershed boundary, so it would be possible to obtain the watersheds. Also, a flowdirection, stream networks and others are generated. The results show that GIS can aid watershed management and research and surveillance. Also the geometric characteristics as parameters of watershed can be quantified by a using GIS technique. Resonable results can be obtained as compared with conventional graphic methods.
Small streams, despite their rich ecosystems, face challenges in vegetation assessment due to the limitations of traditional, time-consuming methods. This study presents a groundbreaking approach, combining unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs), convolutional neural networks(CNNs), and the vegetation differential vegetation index (VDVI), to revolutionize both assessment and management of stream vegetation. Focusing on Idong Stream in South Korea (2.7 km long, 2.34 km2 basin area)with eight diverse revetment methods, we leveraged high-resolution RGB images captured by UAVs across five dates (July-December). These images trained a ResNeXt101 CNN model, achieving an impressive 89% accuracy in classifying vegetation cover(soil, water, and vegetation). This enabled detailed spatial and temporal analysis of vegetation distribution. Further, VDVI calculations on classified vegetation areas allowed assessment of vegetation vitality. Our key findings showcase the power of this approach:(a) TheCNN model generated highly accurate cover maps, facilitating precise monitoring of vegetation changes overtime and space. (b) August displayed the highest average VDVI(0.24), indicating peak vegetation growth crucial for stabilizing streambanks and resisting flow. (c) Different revetment methods impacted vegetation vitality. Fieldstone sections exhibited initial high vitality followed by decline due to leaf browning. Block-type sections and the control group showed a gradual decline after peak growth. Interestingly, the "H environment block" exhibited minimal change, suggesting potential benefits for specific ecological functions.(d) Despite initial differences, all sections converged in vegetation distribution trends after 15 years due to the influence of surrounding vegetation. This study demonstrates the immense potential of UAV-based remote sensing and CNNs for revolutionizing small-stream vegetation assessment and management. By providing high-resolution, temporally detailed data, this approach offers distinct advantages over traditional methods, ultimately benefiting both the environment and surrounding communities through informed decision-making for improved stream health and ecological conservation.

Techniques for processing continuous queries are required to developing the various types of application services (monitoring services) in ubiquitous environment where the real-time data acquisition from a lot of sensors, analysis, and processing are required. In the previous works of the continuous queries, they have represented all of the continuous queries as the interval queries or region queries, and proposed some methods for processing theses queries. The types of continuous queries, however, are very various, and could be presented by combining the attribute conditions, spatial conditions, and temporal conditions. In this paper, I have classify the types of continuous queries, and have proposed the continuous query model which could be presented by combining those conditions. The contributions of this paper include that it proposes the query model representing the continuous queries and suggests future research directions.
A case study is presented where a fluvial system is modeled in three dimensions and compared to data gathered from a study of the Arkansas River. The data is unique in that it documents changes that affected a straight channel that was excavated within the river by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Excavation plan maps and sequential aerial photographs show that the channel underwent massive deposition and channel migration as it returned to a more natural, meandering path. These records illustrate that stability of fluvial system can be disrupted either by catastrophic events such as floods or by subtle events such as the altering of a stream's equilibrium base level or sediment load. SEDSIM, Stanford's Sedimentary Basin Simulation Model, is modified and used to model the Arkansas River and the geologic processes that changed in response to changing hydraulic and geologic parameters resulting from the excavation of the channel. Geologic parameters such as fluid and sediment discharge, velocity, transport capacity, and sediment load are input into the model. These parameters regulate the frequency distribution and sizes of sediment grains that are eroded, transported and deposited. The experiments compare favorably with field data, recreating similar patterns of fluid flow and sedimentation. Therefore, simulations provide insight for understanding and spatial distribution of sediment bodies in fluvial deposits and the internal sedimentary structure of fluvial reservoirs. These techniques of graphic simulation can be contributed to support the development of the new design criteria compatible with natural stream processes, espacially drainage problem to minimize environmental disruption.
In The study, is to investigate the spatial characteristics of the Miho stream, which is the main tributary of the Geum River system, and to identify the main factors influencing the water quality using water quality analysis and multivariate analysis. The survey subjects were selected as 7 main sites in the Miho stream water system, From 2012 to 2017, 16 items including weather temperature and weather data were used for multivariate analysis. As a result of the water quality analysis, the average concentration of BOD and COD for 6 years was 3grade (normal) compared with the water quality environmental standard (river) of conditions. The concentrations of nitrogen and phosphorus were highest at th upstream site, then decreased and then increased again by the hydrogeological and geomorphological effect. Cluster analysis of spatial and water quality characteristics, it was evaluated as three clusters and the pollution sources is the greatest impact. As a result of principal component analysis and factor analysis on each cluster and mainstream, three to four major components were extracted. Main stream and the Cluster 1, Cluster 3 first principal factor included nitrogen and seasonal factors, first factor of Cluster 2 included nitrogen and water temperature. Nitrogen is the principal factor which affects water quality in Miho stream.

This paper propose a dual-layer beam-forming technique for MIMO-OFDM systems. Dual-layer beam-forming is a capacity enhancing technique to transmit two streams of source data with more than two transmit and receive antennas. Beamforming is a technique to enhance the link-level performances gain using antenna array with the small inter element distance. The proposed scheme can obtain both high capacity of spatial multiplexing and antenna array gain of beamforming for MIMO-OFDM systems. Therefore, it provides better BER performance than the traditional spatial multiplexing and beamforming techniques under the same simulation environment.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial characteristics of Namgang-Dam watershed for a Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL). Three TMDL target sites, Gyeonghogang1, 2, Namgang-Dam2, are located within Namgang-Dam watershed. Under the current criterion for TMDLs, 3-year arithmetic mean BOD concentration of the target sites should not exceed the target concentration for 2 consecutive years. Two and three times of violation were observed for Gyenghogang2 and Namgang-Dam2 sites while no violation was found for Gyeonghogang1 site. However, no violation was found since 1999 for all three sites. Correlation between each 12 stations within the watershed were analyzed and cluster analysis was conducted to figure out the spatial characteristics of the watershed. Correlation coefficient between Gyonghogang1 and 2 was high (0.758) while the coefficients between lake station (Namgang-Dam2) and stream stations (Gyonghogang1 and 2) were very low. Dendrogram indicated that all of three Namgang-Dam stations were very close and Gyenghogang1, 2 stations were also close.
