Possible Association of Indole-3-Acetic Acid Production by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines with Development of Pustule Disease in Soybean

  • This report concerns the role of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in bacterial pustule disease of soybean. Pustule production in soybean leaves caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines was accompanied by a drastic increase in IAA content of host tissues. The phytopathogenic bacterium synthesized IAA in a tryptophan concentration-dependent manner when grown in a defined minimal medium. In complex media, however, the pathogen showed no response to tryptophan feeding, implying that the bacterial biosynthetic machinery of IAA is strictly regulated by nutrient availability of its growth environments. The results may suggest that IAA of bacterial origin and tryptophan of plant origin be involved in the process of pustule symptom development in soybean.

콩[Glycine max(L.) Merrill] 품종간의 UV-B에 대한 감수성의 차이

  • The experiment was conducted to determine the effects of enhanced UV-B on growth and differential responses among cultivars in soybean. The soybean cultivars subjected to enhanced UV-B irradiation at daily dose of 11.32 kJ $m^{-2}(UV-B_{BE})$ revealed that the growth was significantly depressed. Plant height, leaf number, leaf area and dry weight were inhibited by UV-B irradiation showing differential responses among cultivars used. Danyeubkong seems to be less sensitive to the enhanced W-B irradiation, while Keunolkong more sensitive. Reduction of chlorophyll content was also found significantly greater to Keunolkong. Specific leaf weight an index of leaf thickness, and flavonoid content known as UV-absorbing compounds were significantly Increased in Danyeubkong by UV-B, but those In the other cultivars were not significantly affected. The results indicated that there are cultivar diferences in tile growth and phisiological responses to the enhanced UV-B irradiation and specific leaf weight and UV-absorbing compounds in the leaves were highly related to the sensitivity of soybean by UV-B irradiation.

Mobilization of Food Reserves and Ultrastructural Changes in Cotyledons of Germinating Soybean Seeds an Seedlings

  • The mobilization of food reserves and ultrastructural changes in th cotyledons of germinating soybean seeds (Glycine max L. Mer. Cultivar Amsoy) and seedlings were studied by using light and transmission electron microscopy. When germinating began, the cotyledon tissues were packed with protein an lipid bodies. Mobilization of the reserves started in epidermis and vascular bundles. After three days of seedling growth, significant reductions of protein and lipid bodies were observed; concurrently, the numbers of starch grains, glyoxysoms, and mitochondria were increased. These ultrastructural changes are discussed with reference to the metabolism of the germinating soybean seeds and seedlings.

기내 배양을 통한 국내 콩(Glycine max L.) 품종의 식물체 재분화 (Plant Regeneration by in vitro Tissue Culture in Korean Soybean (Glycine max L.))

  • 국내 콩 품종의 기내 재생 효율을 개선하고자 국내 장려품종인 우람, 진품2호, 청자3호, 태광콩 품종의 기관형성 및 자엽 크기별 체세포배발생을 검토하였다. 식물체 조직절편 부위별 (자엽, 배축, 자엽+배축 절편) 신초 형성율을 조사한 결과, 자엽과 배축을 포함한 절편(자엽 + 배축)이 절편 당 분화된 신초수가 가장 많았다. 반면에 자엽 절편과 배축 절편에서는 신초가 형성되지 않았다. 배지 종류별로는 B5 배지보다 MS 배지에서 신초형성이 양호했으며, BA 2 ㎎/L 처리구가 TDZ 2 ㎎/L을 첨가한 배지보다 신초 형성율이 높았다. 공시한 4 가지 품종 중 태광콩이 BA 2 ㎎/L를 포함한 MS배지에서 신초형성율이 83.3%로 가장 높았다. 또한 체세포 배발생을 통한 캘러스 유도율을 조사하기 위하여 미성숙 자엽을 크기(S: 1∼2 ㎜, M: 3∼5 ㎜, L: 6∼8 ㎜) 별로 구분하여 배양한 결과, 4 가지 품종 모두 중간 크기(M, 3∼5 ㎜)에서 가장 높았으며, 태광콩이 65.8%로 가장 높은 캘러스 유도율을 보였다.

Growth Characteristics and Seed Yield of Medicinal Soybeans Collected in Korea

  • Seeds of medicinal soybean [Glycine max(L.) Merill] are characterized by a black seed coat, white stripe at hilum border, yellow cotyledon, and very small seed weight. Production of this medicinal soybean has recently increased as a consumption increased. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth characteristics and seed yield of collected medicinal soybeans and to obtain basic information on production practices and breeding materials. The collected medicinal soybean lines were cultivated at three locations for two years. Twenty-seven lines were planted at the Research Farm, Korea University, Namyangju city, on May 23, and at the Research Farm, Kyungpook National University, Taegu, on May 20, 1995. In 1996 field experiments, forty-four lines were planted on May 25, at Research Farm, Korea University, and twenty-seven lines among those were planted on June 7 at the Research Farm of National Yeongnam Agricultural Experiment Station, Milyang city. The investigated lines had purple or white flower. Flowering and maturing dates were similar or later than those of the control cultivars. Branch number was greater for the investigated lines. One hundred-seed weight of the lines ranged from 8.5 to 15.0 g. Mean seed yields ranged from 1.54 to 2.89 MT/ha. Nine lines of the investigated medicinal soybeans showed higher yield capacity than the control cultivars. Further research should be done on the improvement of the production system and breeding program of medicinal soybeans.

하대두(Glycine max)의 파종기 및 비닐 멀칭재배가 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Polyethylene Film Mulching and Planting Dates on Growth and Yield of Summer Type of Soybean (Glycine max))

  • 하대두형 품종에 대하여 파종기를 달리하고 비닐멀칭을 했을 때 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향을 규명코져 다마미도리 지두를 4월 13일부터 10일 간격으로 4파종기로 하고, 비닐로 멀칭과 무멀칭으로 하여 시험한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 출현기는 멀칭을 할 경우 무멀칭에 비하여 촉진되어 4월 13일 파종구는 11일 축진되었다. 개화일수도 멀칭을 할 경우 평균 6일이 단축되었고, 4월 13일 파종구는 12일이 단축되었다. 2. 멀칭구는 무멀칭에 비하여 주경장이 컸으며, 주경절수 및 분지수도 많았을 뿐 아니라. l0a당 건경중도 많았다. 평균 100립중은 차가 없었다. 멀칭의 경우 늦게 파종한 구에서 주경장이 컸고, 주경절수 및 분지수도 많았을 뿐 아니라 건경중도 높았으며, 100립중도 무거웠다. 이러한 현상은 일찍 파종한구에서 미이라병의 리병입률이 높았기 때문이다. 무멀칭의 경우는 멀칭구와 같은 경향을 보이지는 않았다. 3. 멀칭구에서 미이라병의 리병입율이 높으면 자반병 리병입율은 낮아졌다. 무멀칭구는 멀칭구에서와 같은 경향은 보이지 않았다. 4. 멀칭구에서는 무멀칭구보다 평균 20%가 증수되었고, 파종기별로 보면 일찍 파종한 구에서 미이라병에 대한 리병정도가 심하여 수량이 낮았고, 늦게 파종한 구에서 수량이 높았다.

Cytokinin과 대두(Glycine max) 잎단백질의 결합에 대하여 (Binding of Cytokinin to Proteins of Soybean (Glycine max) Leaves)

  • Cytokinin과 단백질의 결합을 간단하게 결정하는 방법으로서 전기 영동법을 시도하고, 대두의 잎단백질과 cytokinin의 결합여부, cytokinin에 대한 affinity가 있는 단백질의 종류와 상대적 affinity를 조사하였다. 검토된 전기 영동법은 cytokinin과 단백질의 결합뿐만 아니라, cytokinin에 대한 상대적 affinity를 동시에 검정할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있었다. Ammonium sulfate 침전법, Sephadex G-25 chromatography, paper chromatography, 그리고 전기영동법으로 대두의 잎단백질 중에 BA와 결합하는 단백질이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 전기영동법으로 검정한 결과 BA와 결함하는 것이 3 group이 있고, 이중에서 전기영동 이동도로보아 분자량이 작은 단백질 분획과 전기영동 이동도 0.4부근의 분획은 BA에 대한 affinity가 비교적 낮은 반면, 이동도 $0.0{\sim}0.2$의 분획은 affinity가 큰 것으로 생각되었다.

  • This experiment was carried out to compare chemical composition, TDN yield of corn-soybean intercropping and corn monocropping forage plants at different harvesting time and obtained the following results. 1. In both cropping systems, the content of chemical composition of forage were changed same pattern in growing stage. The content of crude protein in corn-soybean intercropping forage at yellow stage increased more than that of corn nonocropping forage, while the crude fat in corn monocropping forage plants increased than that of corn-soybean intercropping forage plants at mature stage. 2. The crude fiber, crude ash, ADF content of forage plants in both cropping system decreased same pattern in growing period, however, NFE content of forage increased with maturity. 3. TDN yield of corn-soybean intercropping and corn monocropping forage plants at yellow stage obtained similar results and TDN yield per 10a in intercropping and monocropping were 1006.lkg and 978.6kg, respectively. 4. Consequently, corn-soybean interaopping system could be increased crude protein yield without decreasing of dry matter yield in comparison with corn monocropping system for corn silage.
