운전조건에 따른 O3/UV, TiO2/UV 및 O3/TiO2/UV 시스템의 BTEX 증기처리에 관한 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Degradation of BTEX Vapor by O3/UV, TiO2/UV, and O3/TiO2/UV System with Operating Conditions)

  • A multilayer tower-type photoreactor, in which $TiO_2$-coated glass-tubes were installed, was used to measure the vapor-phase BTEX removal efficiencies by ozone oxidation ($O_3$/UV), photocatalytic oxidation ($TiO_2$/UV) and the combination of ozone and photocatalytic oxidation ($O_3/TiO_2$/UV) process, respectively. The experiments were conducted under various relative humidities, temperatures, ozone concentrations, gas flow rates and BTEX concentrations. As a result, the BTEX removal efficiency and the oxidation rate by $O_3/TiO_2$/UV system were highest, compared to $O_3$/UV and $TiO_2$/UV system. The $O_3/TiO_2$/UV system accelerated the low oxidation rate of low-concentration organic compounds and removed organic compounds to a large extent in a fixed volume of reactor in a short time. Therefore, $O_3/TiO_2$/UV system as a superimposed oxidation technology was developed to efficiently and economically treat refractory VOCs. Also, this study demonstrated feasibility of a technology to scale up a photoreactor from lab-scale to pilot-scale, which uses (i) a separated light-source chamber and a light distribution system, (ii) catalyst fixing to glass-tube media, and (iii) unit connection in series and/or parallel. The experimental results from $O_3/TiO_2$/UV system showed that (i) the highest BTEX removal efficiencies were obtained under relative humidity ranging from 50 to 55% and temperature ranging from 40 to $50^{\circ}C$, and (ii) the removal efficiencies linearly increased with ozone dosage and decreased with gas flow rate. When applying Langmuir-Hinshelwood model to $TiO_2$/UV and $O_3/TiO_2$/UV system, reaction rate constant for $O_3/TiO_2$/UV system was larger than that for $TiO_2$/UV system, however, it was found that adsorption constant for $O_3/TiO_2$/UV system was smaller than that for $TiO_2$/UV system due to competitive adsorption between organics and ozone.

태양-지구 간 공간 전파 관측 시스템 설계 검증 (A Study on Design Verification of Radio Measurement System for Interplanetary Space)

  • 태양과 지구 간 공간인 행성 간 공간 (Interplanetary space)은 태양표면에서 발생되는 X선, 플레어, 코로나 물질 등이 태양풍에 의해 지구로 이동되는 공간으로, 태양에서부터 초음속의 태양풍이 불고 있다. 이러한 태양풍은 지구 자기권 및 이온층에 직접적인 영향을 미치며, 이로 인해 방송통신 장애, 위성운용 장애, 전력선 장애 등을 야기 시키게 된다. 이러한 행성 간 공간의 태양풍 흐름은 태양풍 배경이 되는 전파원이 태양풍을 통과하면서 발생하는 신틸레이션 값을 측정함으로써 태양풍 속도, 밀도 및 방향으로 관측된다. 태양풍 관측 정확도 및 정밀도는 유효집광 면적이 넓을수록 그리고 태양 배경 관측 소스 수가 많을수록 높아진다. 본 논문에서의 성능 검증은 시제품으로 제작한 3개의 타일을 이용하였으며, 관측 타일 수량의 제한으로 관측된 빔 패턴이 요구사항을 만족하는지 여부를 검증하는 시험을 수행하였다. 본 논문은 행성 간 공간에서 이동하는 태양풍 관측을 위해 디지털 데이터 처리 기능을 갖는 태양풍 지상 관측 시스템 설계 및 규격을 제시하고 또한 설계 시 제기된 기술적 이슈와 해결방안을 제시하고 있다. 아울러 제시된 규격에 따라 제작된 시제품을 이용하여 태양풍을 관측할 수 있는 성능이 구현되었는지에 대한 검증을 수행한 결과를 제시하고 있다. 시제품으로 제작한 3개의 타일을 이용하여 수행된 성능시험 결과 관측된 빔 패턴이 요구사항을 만족하고 있어 태양풍 관측이 수행될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

장기유출의 수문적 모형개발을 위한 주요 수계별 단위도 유도 (Determination of Unit Hydrograph for the Hydrological Modelling of Long-term Run-off in the Major River Systems in Korea)

  • In general precise estimation of hourly of daily distribution of the long-term run-off should be very important in a design of source of irrigation. However, there have not been a satisfying method for forecasting of stationar'y long-term run-off in Korea. Solving this problem, this study introduces unit-hydrograph method frequently used in short-term run-off analysis into the long-term run-off analysis, of which model basin was selected to be Sumgin-river catchment area. In the estimation of effective rainfall, conventional method neglects the Soil moisture condition of catchment area, but in this study, the initial discharge (qb) occurred just before rising phase of the hydrograph was selected as the index of a basin soil moisture condition and then introduced as 3rd variable in the analysis of the reationship between cumulative rainfall and cumulative loss of rainfall, which built a new type of separation method of effective rainfall. In next step, in order to normalize significant potential error included in hydrological data, especially in vast catchment area, Snyder's correlation method was applied. A key to solution in this study is multiple correlation method or multiple regressional analysis, which is primarily based on the method of least squres and which is solved by the form of systems of linear equations. And for verification of the change of characteristics of unit hydrograph according to the variation of a various kind of hydrological charateristics (for example, precipitation, tree cover, soil condition, etc),seasonal unit hydrograph models of dry season(autumn, winter), semi-dry season (spring), rainy season (summer) were made respectively. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows; 1.During the test period of 1966-1971, effective rainfall was estimated for the total 114 run-off hydrograph. From this estimation results, relative error of estimation to the ovservation value was 6%, -which is mush smaller than 12% of the error of conventional method. 2.During the test period, daily distribution of long-term run-off discharge was estimated by the unit hydrograph model. From this estimation results, relative error of estimation by the application of standard unit hydrograph model was 12%. When estimating by each seasonal unit bydrograph model, the relative error was 14% during dry season 10% during semi-dry season and 7% during rainy season, which is much smaller than 37% of conventional method. Summing up the analysis results obtained above, it is convinced that qb-index method of this study for the estimation of effective rainfall be preciser than any other method developed before. Because even recently no method has been developed for the estimation of daily distribution of long-term run-off dicharge, therefore estimation value by unit hydrograph model was only compared with that due to kaziyama method which estimates monthly run-off discharge. However this method due to this study turns out to have high accuracy. If specially mentioned from the results of this study, there is no need to use each seasonal unit hydrograph model separately except the case of semi-dry season. The author hopes to analyze the latter case in future sudies.

Pd 첨가량 및 첨가방법이 알코올 센서용 SnO2 반도체 후막 특성에 미치는 영향 연구 (Effects of Pd Addition Amount and Method on the Characteristics of SnO2 Semiconductor Thick Films for Alcohol Gas Sensors)

  • In this paper, two methods of making the Pd-added $SnO_2$ ($Pd-SnO_2$) powder with pure tetragonal phase by the hydrazine method were suggested and compared in terms of crystal structure, surface morphology, and alcohol gas response. One of the addition methods is to use $PdCl_2$ as a Pd source, the other is to use Pd-based organic with oleylamine (OAM). When Pd concentration was increased from 0 to 5 wt%, the average grain size of $Pd-SnO_2$ made with Pd-OAM were decreased from 32 to 12 nm. In the case of using with $PdCl_2$, grain size of the $PdCl_2$ fell to less than 10 nm. However, agglomerated and extruded surface morphology was observed for the films with Pd addition over 4 wt%. The crack-free $Pd-SnO_2$ thick films were able to successfully fill the $30{\mu}m$ gap of patterned Pt electrodes by optimized ink dropping method. Also, the 2 wt% $Pd-SnO_2$ thick film made with PdCl2 showed gas responses ($R_{air}/R_{gas}$) of 3.7, 5.7 and 9.0 at alcohol concentrations of 10, 50 and 100 ppm, respectively. On the other hand, the prepared 3 wt% $Pd-SnO_2$ thick film with Pd-OAM exhibited very excellent responses of 3.4, 6.8 and 12.2 at the equivalent measurement conditions, respectively. The 3 wt% $Pd-SnO_2$ thick film with Pd-OAM has a specific surface area of $31.39m^2/g$.

In-situ Observations of Gas Phase Dynamics During Graphene Growth Using Solid-State Carbon Sources

  • A single-layer graphene has been uniformly grown on a Cu surface at elevated temperatures by thermally processing a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) film in a rapid thermal annealing (RTA) system under vacuum. The detailed chemistry of the transition from solid-state carbon to graphene on the catalytic Cu surface was investigated by performing in-situ residual gas analysis while PMMA/Cu-foil samples being heated, in conjunction with interrupted growth studies to reconstruct ex-situ the heating process. The data clearly show that the formation of graphene occurs with hydrocarbon molecules vaporized from PMMA, such as methane and/or methyl radicals, as precursors rather than by the direct graphitization of solid-state carbon. We also found that the temperature for vaporizing hydrocarbon molecules from PMMA and the length of time the gaseous hydrocarbon atmosphere is maintained, which are dependent on both the heating temperature profile and the amount of a solid carbon feedstock are the dominant factors to determine the crystalline quality of the resulting graphene film. Under optimal growth conditions, the PMMA-derived graphene was found to have a carrier (hole) mobility as high as ~2,700 cm2V-1s-1 at room temperature, superior to common graphene converted from solid carbon.

Composite target으로 증착된 Mo-silicide의 형성 및 불순물의 거동 (Behavior of Implanted Dopants and Formation of Molybdenum Siliclde by Composite Sputtering)

  • Composite target(MoS$i_{2.3}$)으로 부터 Mo-silicide를 형성시, 단결정 실리콘 위에 P, B$F_2$불순물(5${\times}10^{15}ions/cm^2$)과 다결정 실리콘 위에 P 불순물(5${\times}10^{15}ions/cm^2$)을 이온 주입하여 아르곤 분위기에서 급속열처리(RTA)하였다. 열처리는 600-120$0^{\circ}C$ 온도구간에서 20초간 행하였다. Mo-silicide의 특성 및 불순물의 거동은 4-point probe, X선 회절분석, SEM, SIMS, $\alpha$-step을 통해 조사하였다. 80$0^{\circ}C$에서 부터 MoS$i_2가 형성되며 열처리 온도가 증가할수록 낮은 비저항간을 갖는 안정한 MoS$i_2로 결정화가 이루어진다. 또한 열처리 동안 단결정 실리콘과 다결정 실리콘에서 Mo-silicide층으로 불순물의 내부 확산은 거의 발생하지 않았다.

전파천문 상관처리를 위한 최적 코딩 방법에 관한 연구 (A Study on Optimum Coding Method for Correlation Processing of Radio Astronomy)

  • 본 논문에서는 한일공동VLBI상관기를 위한 소프트웨어 상관기의 성능개선을 위해 공개된 라이브러리를 이용한 최적 코딩 방법에 대해 제안한다. VLBI 관측데이터를 상관처리하는 시스템은 관측국 수에 따라 계산량이 기하급수적으로 증기하기 때문에 일반적으로 ASIC 또는 FPGA를 이용하여 하드웨어로 구축한다. 하지만 최근에는 컴퓨터 성능의 발전에 따라 소프트웨어를 이용하여 클러스터와 같은 대용량 서버에서 구축하고 있다. 하드웨어로 구축한 VLBI 상관처리 시스템은 대부분 관측시간대비 준 실시간 또는 실시간으로 데이터처리를 수행하기 때문에, 소프트웨어 상관처리 시스템도 이와 같은 성능을 갖기 위해서는 코딩작업에서 데이터 처리를 최적으로 수행할 수 있어야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 상관처리 시스템에서 가장 중요한 과정인 FFT 처리과정에서 공개된 fftw 라이브러리를 활용하여 최적코딩을 수행할 수 있도록 fftw 라이브러리를 이용한 일반적인 방법, SSE를 활용한 방법, 공유메모리를 사용한 방법, OpenMP를 활용한 방법, 그리고 제시한 것들을 병합한 방법을 적용한 경우에 대해 상관처리 실험을 수행하였다. 상관처리실험을 통하여 본 논문에서 제안한 fftw와 공유메모리, 그리고 OpenMP를 적용한 최적 코딩 방법이 상관처리 시간을 단축할 수 있어서 소프트웨어 상관기의 성능개선에 유효함을 확인하였다.

Setting limits for water use in the Wairarapa Valley, New Zealand

  • The Wairarapa Valley occupies a predominantly rural area in the lower North Island of New Zealand. It supports a mix of intensive farming (dairy), dry stock farming (sheep and beef cattle) and horticulture (including wine grapes). The valley floor is traversed by the Ruamahanga River, the largest river in the Wellington region with a total catchment area of 3,430 km2. Environmental, cultural and recreational values associated with this Ruamahanga River are very high. The alluvial gravel and sand aquifers of the Wairarapa Valley, support productive groundwater aquifers at depths of up to 100 metres below ground while the Ruamahanga River and its tributaries present a further source of water for users. Water is allocated to users via resource consents by Greater Wellington Regional Council (GWRC). With intensifying land use, demand from the surface and groundwater resources of the Wairarapa Valley has increased substantially in recent times and careful management is needed to ensure values are maintained. This paper describes the approach being taken to manage water resources in the Wairarapa Valley and redefine appropriate limits of sustainable water use. There are three key parts: Quantifying the groundwater resource. A FEFLOW numerical groundwater flow model was developed by GWRC. This modelling phase provided a much improved understanding of aquifer recharge and abstraction processes. It also began to reveal the extent of hydraulic connection between aquifer and river systems and the importance of moving towards an integrated (conjunctive) approach to allocating water. Development of a conjunctive management framework. The FEFLOW model was used to quantify the stream flow depletion impacts of a range of groundwater abstraction scenarios. From this, three abstraction categories (A, B and C) that describe diminishing degrees of hydraulic connection between ground and surface water resources were mapped in 3 dimensions across the Valley. Interim allocation limits have been defined for each of 17 discrete management units within the valley based on both local scale aquifer recharge and stream flow depletion criteria but also cumulative impacts at the valley-wide scale. These allocation limits are to be further refined into agreed final limits through a community-led decision making process. Community involvement in the limit setting process. Historically in New Zealand, limits for sustainable resource use have been established primarily on the basis of 'hard science' and the decision making process has been driven by regional councils. Community involvement in limit setting processes has been through consultation rather than active participation. Recent legislation in the form of a National Policy Statement on Freshwater Management (2011) is reforming this approach. In particular, collaborative consensus-based decision making with active engagement from stakeholders is now expected. With this in mind, a committee of Wairarapa local people with a wide range of backgrounds was established in 2014. The role of this committee is to make final recommendations about resource use limits (including allocation of water) that reflect the aspirations of the communities they represent. To assist the committee in taking a holistic view it is intended that the existing numerical groundwater flow models will be coupled with with surface flow, contaminant transport, biological and economic models. This will provide the basis for assessing the likely outcomes of a range of future land use and resource limit scenarios.

다중모드 간섭현상을 이용한 1×16 마하젠더 스위치 개발 (Development of 1×16 Thermo-optic MZI Switch Using Multimode Interference Coupler)

  • 본 논문에서는 실리카 기반의 다중모드 간섭기를 이용하여 적은 초과손실을 갖는 $1{\times}16$ 마하젠더 스위치에 대한 설계 및 측정결과에 대하여 논하였다. 제작된 $1{\times}16$ 마하젠더 스위치는 마하젠더 간섭계(Mach-Zehnder Interferometer, MZI) 구조를 갖는 $2{\times}2$ 열광학스위치를 단위소자로 하였으며, 15개의 단위소자를 이용하여 4단(stage)으로 구성하였다. 먼저 광분배기와 $2{\times}2$ MZI 열광학 스위치등의 개별적인 특성을 파악하였고, 그 결과를 전체 소자의 설계에 적용함으로써 보다 좋은 성능을 얻을 수 있었다. 제작된 다중모드 간섭기를 이용한 MZI 구조의 단위스위치 당 초과손실은 최소 -0.5dB로 측정되었다.

천궁으로부터 lipid 의 분리 동정 (Lipids from the rhizome of Cnidium officinalis Makino)

  • 천궁의 근경을 EeOH 수용액으로 추출하였으며, 얻어진 추출물을 용매계통분획방법을 이용하여 EtOAc 분획, n-BuOH 분획 및 물 분획으로 나누었다. EtOAc 분획과 n-BuOH 분획에 대하여 silica gel, octadecyl silica gel 및 Sephadex LH-20을 정지상으로 사용하여 칼럼크로마토그래피를 반복 수행한 결과 5종의 lipid를 분리하였다. 5종 화합물은 IR, MS 및 NMR 데이터를 해석하여 각각 methyl linoleate (1), linoleic aicd (2) 6-linoleoyl-𝛼-D-glucopyranosyl 𝛽-D-fructofuranoside (3), 1-linolenoyl-3-(𝛼-D-galactopyranosyl (1→6)-𝛽-D-galactopyranosyl) glycerol(4) 및 1-linoleoyl-3-(𝛼-D-galactopyranosyl (1→6)-𝛽-D-galactopyranosyl) glycerol (5)로 구조동정하였다, 화합물 1과 3-5는 천궁에서는 이번 연구에서 처음 분리되었다. 또한 화합물 1과 2의 경우 NMR 데이터가 완전하지 않거나, 문헌에 따라 서로 다르게 보고되어 있으나, 이번에 2-D NMR 등을 자세히 검토하여 모든 탄소 및 수소에 대한 데이터를 확실하게 동정하였다. Sucrose와 지방산 복합체인 화합물 3과 digalactosyl monoglyceride인 화합물 4와 5는 현재까지 천연에서 매우 드물게 보고되어 있다. 보고된 지질화합물들의 면역증강, 항암활성 등을 통해, 천궁 근경의 다양한 약리활성 소재로서의 가능성을 기대할 수 있다.
