넓은 대역 광원을 이용한 광 가입자 선로 운용보전 시스템에 관한 연구 (A Study on the operation and Maintenance system for optical subscriber loops using a broadband light source)

  • This paper presents a noble operation and maintenance system for the optical subscriber loops and its feasibility through several experiments. In this system, a broadband CW (Continuous Wave) light source I used as monitoring of testing signals. and a FGF(Fiber Grating Filter) of which reflective wavelength is independent, is inserted somewhere in each subscriber loop for the reflection of monitoring of testing signals. The propose of the system is quick decision. whether the loop is just fault or not. rather than detailed information of loop state. At present, most of operation and maintenance system for the optical subscriber loops adopts OTDR(optical time domain reflectometer) for testing function. the OTDR is useful for detailed test, but not adequate for simple test because of long testing time . And it is difficult to test PON network by using general OTDR that has a single-wavelength light source. Compared to using OTDR, the proposed system can afford to shorten testing time and to test PON network. Moreover, we can cut down the system cost by simplifying circuits of the optical light sources. Our results show that the proposed system operates well according to the purpose mentioned above.

  • The NAH based on the inverse BEM is used to reconstruct the source field, which is advantageous in dealing with the irregular source. In the implementation of this technique, a large number of pressure measurements is required because an over-determined pressure data set is required. These conditions accordingly cause the increase of measurement time and associated effort along with the error due to mal-positioning. The purpose of this study is to reduce such inconveniences: Instead of increasing the number of field pressure data, the number of transfer paths between the source and the receiver is increased by placing rigid scattering body in-between the source and receiver. For validating the usefulness and effectiveness of the method, the numerical analyses of interior problem are demonstrated. As a result, it is thought that the proposed method enables the measurement at smaller number of sensor positions and the monitoring of surface vibration with less experimental effects than before.

오염된 QMS의 원인 분석과 세정 및 기능 복원 (Analysis of contaminated QMS, cleaning and restoration of functions)

  • Quadrupole Mass Spectrometers (QMS) is a very useful tool in vacuum process diagnosis. Tungsten filament based ion sources are vulnerable to contamination from process gas monitoring. Common symptoms of quadrupole mass spectrometer malfunction is appearance of unwanted contaminant mass peaks or no detection of any ion peaks. We disassembled used quadrupole mass spectrometer and found out black insulating deposits on inside of ion source parts. Five steps of cleaning procedure were applied and almost full restoration of functions were confirmed in two types of closed ion source quadrupole mass spectrometer. By using a numerical modeling (CFD-ACE+) technique, the electric potential profile of ion source with/without insulating deposit was calculated and showed the possibility of quadrupole mass spectrometer malfunction by the deterioration of designed potential profile inside the ion source.

Searching for Electromagnetic Counterpart of Gravitational Wave Source with KMTNet

  • After first identification of electromagnetic counterpart of gravitational wave source (GW170817), era of multi-messenger astronomy has begun. For specifying coordinate, magnitude, and host galaxy information, optical follow-up observation of GW source becomes important. With following engineering run and O3 run of LIGO and VIRGO starting in March 2019, we present searching strategy for optical counterpart of GW source using KMTNet. 24 hours monitoring system and large field of view (4 square-degree) of KMTNet are advantage to discover a transient like GW event. By performing tiling observation of high probability area in GW localization map, we expect to observe early light-curve of GW optical counterpart. After identification, follow-up observation with various KMTNet bands and other telescopes like Gemini and UKIRT will also be performed. We will study collision mechanism, progenitor, and characteristics of host galaxy using observation data of GW source.

지열원 열펌프 시스템의 에너지 생산량 모니터링 신뢰도 향상 방안 연구 (A Study on the Monitoring Methods for Energy Production in Ground Source Heat Pump System)

  • In this study, the present regulation of heat metering for the ground source heat pump was investigated. The ground source heat pump has been adopting the heat metering system used in the district heating system for estimating the heating and cooling energy production amount. The accuracy of the present heat metering systems for a water to water ground source heat pump is low, because the system for district heating has a relatively high temperature range comparing with the ground source heat pump operating conditions. Even though the heat amount for the building side should be measured, the heat absorption and extraction amount from or to the ground was measured for the water to air ground source heat pump due to the difficulty of estimating the air side heating and cooling capacity in the present regulation. It is highly recommended to validate the heat metering system to have reliability for the ground source heat pump and develop the system to be applicable water to air ground source heat pump.

비파괴검사 분야에서 방사선원의 위치 확인을 위한 산화납 기반 방사선 검출기 설계에 관한 연구 (The Study on Design of lead monoxide based radiation detector for Checking the Position of a Radioactive Source in an NDT)

  • 최근, 감마선 조사기의 자동 원격 조사 제어기가 오동작하여 방사선작업종사자가 방사선 피폭 사고가 지속적으로 보고되고 있다. 이에 NDT 분야에서는 방사선에 대한 잠재적 사고를 미연에 방지하기 위한 방사선원 모니터링 시스템 구축에 많은 시간과 재원을 투자하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 다양한 비파괴검사장비에 범용적으로 적용할 수 있는 방사선원 위치 모니터링 시스템의 개발을 위한 선행연구로써 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 통해 산화납 기반 방사선 검출기에 대한 감마선 응답 특성을 모의 추정하였다. 연구 결과, 방사선 검출기의 최적화 두께는 방사선원에서 방사되는 감마선 에너지에 따라 상이하며 에너지가 증가함에 따라 최적화 두께가 점차 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 PbO 기반 방사선 검출기의 최적화 두께는 Ir-192에 대하여 $200{\mu}m$, Se-75 $150{\mu}m$, Co-60 $300{\mu}m$로 분석되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 범용적으로 적용하기 위하여 2차 전자 평형을 고려한 PbO 기반 방사선 검출기의 적절한 두께는 $300{\mu}m$로 평가되었다. 이러한 결과는 차후 다양한 NDT 장비에 범용적으로 적용하기 위한 방사선원 위치 모니터링 시스템을 개발 시 방사선 검출기에서 요구되는 적절한 두께를 결정하는데 있어 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

비파괴검사 분야에서 방사선원의 위치 확인을 위한 반도체 검출기 설계에 관한 연구 (The Study on Design of Semiconductor Detector for Checking the Position of a Radioactive Source in an NDT)

  • 비파괴검사 분야에서는 작업자들의 안전을 확보하기 위해 방사선원에 대한 시스템 개발에 많은 시간과 재원을 투자하고 있으나 아직까지 사고 발생 확률은 높은 실정이다. 방사선에 대한 잠재적 사고를 미연에 방지하기 위해서는 방사선원의 위치를 직접적으로 검증하는 것이지만 아직까지 연구가 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 감마선조사기의 선원 가이드 튜브에서 방사선원의 위치를 감지할 수 있는 모니터링 시스템 개발을 위한 선행연구로써 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션을 통해 방사선 검출기에 대한 특성을 모의 추정하였다. 연구 결과, Ir-192의 감마선 에너지에 대한 방사선 검출기는 반도체 소재에 무관하게 $150{\mu}m$에서 2차 전자평형이 이루어지는 것으로 분석되었으며, 감마선 응답 특성은 $HgI_2$가 가장 우수할 것으로 기대된다. 이러한 결과는 차후 모니터링 시스템의 검출부에 위치하는 방사선 검출기의 최적화 두께를 결정하는데 기초자료로써 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 이를 바탕으로 모니터링 시스템을 개발 시 방사선작업종사자가 위험을 쉽게 인지하여 안전을 확보할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 잠재적인 방사선 사고에 대한 예방 및 선제적 대응이 가능함으로써 사회 안전망 구축 에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

농촌유역의 비점원 오염 수질관리를 위한 인공습지 설계모형 (Design Model of Constructed Wetlands for Water Quality Management of Non-point Source Pollution in Rural Watersheds)

  • As an useful water purification system for non-point source pollution in rural watersheds, interests in constructed wetlands are growing at home and abroad. It is well known that constructed wetlands are easily installed, no special managemental needs, and more flexible at fluctuating influent loads. They have a capacity for purification against nutrient materials such as phosphorus and nitrogen causing eutrophication of lentic water bodies. The Constructed Wetland Design Model (CWDM), developed through this study is consisted mainly of Database System, Runoff-discharge Prediction Submodel, Water Quality Prediction Submodel, and Area Assessment Submodel. The Database System includes data of watershed, discharge, water quality, pollution source, and design factors for the constructed wetland. It supplies data when predicting water quality and calculating the required areas of constructed wetlands. For the assessment of design flow, the GWLF (Generalized Watershed Loading Function) is used, and for water quality prediction in streams estimating influent pollutant load, Water Quality Prediction Submodel, that is a submodel of DSS-WQMRA model developed by previous works is amended. The calculation of the required areas of constructed wetlands is achieved using effluent target concentrations and area calculation equations that developed from the monitoring results in the United States. The CWDM is applied to Bokha watershed to appraise its application by assessing design flow and predicting water quality. Its application is performed through two calculations: one is to achieve each target effluent concentrations of BOD, SS, T-N and T-P, the other is to achieve overall target effluent concentrations. To prove the validity of the model, a comparison of unit removal rates between the calculated one from this study and the monitoring result from existing wetlands in Korea, Japan and United States was made. As a result, the CWDM could be very useful design tool for the constructed wetland in rural watersheds and for the non-point source pollution management.

첨두수질농도를 이용한 비점오염원 관리방안 연구 (A study on the Management of Non-point Source Using Peak Water Quality Concentration)

  • 본 연구에서는 금호강의 수질 및 유량 자료를 이용하여 첨두수질에 따른 강우유출 특성을 분석하고 모니터링 및 오염원별 관리 시기 등의 비점오염 관리 방향을 도출하였다. 첨두수질농도(Peak Water Quality Concentration)는 강우유출수내 수질이 가장 높은 농도로 비점오염 관리 기준농도로 극값(Extremal value)을 활용하는 개념이다. 이 방법을 이용하여 누적강수량(총강수량), 첨두수질농도, 첨두수질농도까지의 누적강수량, 첨두수질농도까지의 시간, 첨두수질농도까지의 EMC 등의 평가인자를 검토하였고 장기간에 걸친 실측자료를 이용하여 비점오염원 강우유출특성을 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 통해 비점오염원을 관리하기 위한 적정 모니터링 및 관리방안을 제시하였다.

MOGABA: Monitoring of Gamma-ray Bright AGN with KVN 21-m radio telescopes at 22 and 43GHz

  • We introduce an ongoing project for monitoring total flux density at 22 and 43GHz, linearly polarized flux, and polarization angle at 22GHz of Gamma-ray bright AGN (Active Galactic Nuclei) with KVN (Korean VLBI Network) 21-m radio telescopes. The project started in May, 2011 with an effective monitoring cycle of 4 days, observing four main objects (3C 454.3, BL Lac, 3C 273, and 3C 279). More objects were included in the source list when they had flared in Gamma-ray. In this paper, we report the current status of the project and preliminary results for the monitoring observations.
