In this study, a CFD code is developed to perform simulation of the surface and internal flow of a three-dimensional rectangular cavity driven by an external gas flow. Investigated in this study are surface characteristic such as surface tension, surface dilational viscosity(or surface elasticity), and surface viscosity. Visualization of the surface of water is performed to compare with the numerical results obtained with the developed in-house code. We have found that the surface flow is very sensitive to the surface tension and other configurations. The surface flow velocity obtained from the numerical solution is lower than the experimental result.

The indirect boundary integral equation is formulated to analyze the behavior of a cavity in a multilayered half-plane subjected to earthquake waves. This formulation uses the fundamental solutions that are numerically calculated by the generalized transmission and reflection coefficient method. The free surface of the cavity without external excitation influences the behavior of the half-plane. Consequently this analysis adds the consideration of scattering-field into the analysis and the total motion field of the cavity is decomposed into the free-field and scattering-field motions. The free-field motion is obtained from the modification of the transmission and reflection coefficient method. The scattering-field motion is calculated is calculated by the indirect boundary value problem which has the ficticious boundaries and sources. In this study, P wave, SV wave, SH wave, and Rayleigh wave are analyzed respectively.
The runner-valve is an effective solution for the filling balance of the multi cavity molds. Automation of the runner-valve system is necessary for more efficient and accurate control of the filing balance. We designed an automatic runner-valve actuator for the automation and characterized the actuator by experiment. We obtained a linear relationship between motor-driving time and the height of the runner-valve. However, the motor-driving times for upward and downward directions were different due to the frictional characteristics of the actuators. Also we obtained the motor-driving times for backlashes of the 4 actuators. The results were used to formulate the relationship between the resin-arrival time and the flow rate change of the runner-valve with the theoretical equation that was derived in the previous research.
In order to study drug release from the suppository, three types of hollow suppositories and one conventional suppository were prepared using indomethacin(IDM) as a model drug and Witepsol H-15 as a base. The 4 types of suppository prepared are as follows: type I, conventional suppository containing 50 mg of IDM powder, type II, hollow supository containing 50 mg of IDM powder in the cavity, type III, hollow suppository containing 25 mg of IDM powder in the base and IDM microcapsules (25 mg as IDM powder) in the cavity, and type IV, hollow suppository containing IDM microcapsules (25 mg as IDM powder) in the base and 0.5 ml of 5%(w/v) IDM-PEG 300 solution in the cavity. The drug amount released(%) from type II and I within 24 hrs was 46.7% and 66.9%, respectively. Comparing with the drug amount released from four types of suppository within initial 2 hrs and 24 hrs, that of type IV was high as 32.7% and 76.6%, respectively. IDM-ethycellulose microcapsules passed through 270 mesh sieve and the IDM content was 20.95%.
This paper presents the results of analytical and numerical analyses of the effects of performing a pressuremeter test or driving a pile in clay. The geometry of the problem has been simplified by the assumptions of plane strain and axial symmetry. Pressuremeter testing or installation of driven piles has been modelled as an undrained expansion of a cylindrical cavity. Stresses, pore water pressures, and deformations are found by assuming that the clay behaves like normally consolidated modified Cam clay. Closed-form solutions are obtained which allow the determination of the principal effective stresses and the strains around the cavity. The analysis which indicates that the intermediate principal stress at critical state is not equal to the mean of the other two principal stresses, except when the clay is initially isotropically consolidated, also permits finding the limit expansion and excess pore water pressures by means of the Almansi finite strain approach. Results are compared with published data which were determined using finite element and finite difference methods.

This paper is aimed to investigate behaviour of vortex in 2-D step cavity with high Reynolds numbers$(3.2{\times}10^{3},\;10^{4},\;3{\times}10^{4},\;5{\times}10^{4}\;and\;7{\times}10^{4})$. The SOLA algorithm which is MAC type was adopted to solution method computing the flow field on irregular grid. In case of $Re=7{\times}10^{4}$ flow behavior is steady bu periodic unsteady sinusoidal fluctuation of local velocity and kinetic energy is found for $Re=10^{4}$ Continuous movements of small eddies in the secondary flow regions are discov-ered for $3{\times}10^{4}$ Generation of eddies and their active migrating behavior are detected over $Re=5{\times}10^{4}$ resulting in complete unsteady and non-linear flow characteristics Furthermore a typhoon-like vortex(TLV) appears intermittently and rotates along the separation regions and boundary layers.
The effectiveness of sodium carboxymethylcellulose(SCMC) and dextran 70 in the prevention of adhesion formation in abdominal cavity of rabbits following artificial injuries was elucidated and the effects -of these medicines on blood pictures were also examined. After abrasion treatment on jejunum in gonadotropins primed rabbits, 1, 2 and 3% of SCMC solutions, 6 and 10% dextran 70 solutions and a synthetic solution of 1% SCMC and loft dextran 70 in 0.9% saline solution were infused into the abdominal cavity. Four weeks later the abdominal cavities were reopened under general anesthesia. The synthetic solution showed the highest adhesion reduction rate(100%), while 1% SCMC, 6 and loft dextran solutions showed no significantly evident effect of adhesion prevention. The SCMC solutions showed better adhesion reduction effect than dextran 70 solutions. After infusion of these adhesion preventive medicines, the changes of total leucocytes, erythrocytes, lymphocytes, PCV, plasma fibrinogen and protein contents were examined. No remarkable difference in blood pictures was shown between the synthetic solution and the other medicines. Therefore, it can be suggested that the synthetic solution of 1% SCMC and 10% dextran 70 in 0.9% saline solution at dose of 5$m\ell$/kg of body weight is prominently effective in the prevention of postoperative adhesion formation and wolf be safe in animals and human.
The demand increasing of optical applications like as display devices derives interest for fabrication process. The product s development is apt to fabricate numerous thin and wide surfaces with micro pattern. Naturally that needs injection molding fabrication for the mass production. In existing manufacturing, the product quality is controlled by input fabrication condition from the outside. That can be called as a try and error method and not fundamentally solve the troubles; imperfect replication, war page, short shot, etc. To understand the cause and bring a solution, it is needed that check of changing in the cavity. This study can catch them. Data acquisition system about temperature and pressure distribution is settled and can get some data. From this research, other studies related with DAQ in cavity can start on the easier step.
Natural convection flows in a cubical air-filled cavity that has one pair of opposing faces isothermal at different temperatures, $T_h\;and\;T_c$ respectively, the remaining four faces having a linear variation from $T_c\;to\;T_h$ are numerically simulated by a solution code(PowerCFD) using unstructured cell-centered method. An extension to a previously published work, special attention of this work is paid to three-dimensional flow and thermal characteristics in nature convection according to new orientation at Ra= $1{\times}105$. Comparisons of the average Nusselt number at the cold face are made with benchmark solutions and experimental results found in the literature. It is demonstrated that the average Nusselt number on the cold face has a maximum value around the diamond-type inclination angle of $43.2^{\circ}\;at\;Ra=1{\times}105$. We also report the effect of new orientation on the type of flow and temperature structure in a cubical-cavity.
When conventional root canal treatment is failed or contraindicated, retrograde root canal filling following apicoectomy is a valuable procedure, aimed at hermetically sealing the root canal against leakage of irritants from the canal into the periapical tissue. In this in vitro investigation, to analyze apical microleakage electrochemically in teeth with different retrograde filling materials and preparation types, single - rooted tooth was cut 2mm from the apex and each Class I and Slot preparation was prepared. Experimental groups : Group 1. Amalgam filling with cavity varnish in Class I preparation Group 2. Scotchbond 2+Silux filling in Class I preparation Group 3. Gutta percha filling with ZOE cement in Class I preparation Group 4. Amalgam filling with cavity varnish in Slot preparation Group 5. Scotchbond 2+Silux filling in Slot preparation Each specimens was immersed in 1% solution of KCl, and applied a potential of 9V external power supply. Measurements of the current flow were obtained at 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 12, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28 day after immerson. Marginal microleakage were compared and evaluated. The results were as follows ; 1. The group filled with composite resin with dentin bonding agent shows lower apical microleakage value than the group filled with amalgam following varnish application (P<0.01). 2. In the group filled with gutta percha, apical microleakage value was the hightest 3. There was no significant difference between Class I cavity and Slot type cavity regardless of the used materials.
