  • Many modern complex systems, including most object-oriented systems, have dynamic characteristics that their components are dynamical]y configured during run-time. However, few analysis techniques are available that consider the dynamic nature of systems explicitly. We propose a specification and analysis method for these dynamic systems. We design a new temporal logic, called HDTL, to specify the properties of dynamically evolving systems, and tune up the tableau method for this logic. HDTL incorporates variables and quantifiers that enable the automatic analysis. Using HDTL and the analysis method, we can specify the correctness requirements of systems and check whether the system actually agree with the requirements or not. An experiment shows that HDTL is suitable for specifying dynamic properties and the analysis technique works well.

  • Advances in FPGA technology have enabled fast real-time simulation of power converters, filters and loads. FPGA based HIL (Hardware-In-the-Loop) simulators have revolutionized control hardware and software development for power electronics. Common time step sizes in the order of 100ns are sufficient for simulating switching frequency current and voltage ripples. In order to keep the time step as small as possible, ideal switching function models are often used to simulate the phase legs. This often produces inferior results when simulating the discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and disabled operational states. Therefore, the corresponding measurement and protection units cannot be tested properly. This paper describes a new solution for this problem utilizing a discrete-time PI controller. The PI controller simulates the proper DC and low frequency AC components of the phase leg voltage during disabled operation. It also retains the advantage of fast real-time execution of switch-based models when an accurate simulation of high frequency junction capacitor oscillations is not necessary.

  • Purpose: PBA buried in underwater requires high reliability because of its mission critical characteristic and harsh operational environment during its life cycle. Therefore, various reliability improvement activities are necessary. The defect on PBA manufacturing process have been studied, as a result, many activities and standards have been presented. However, there are less studies regarding failure pattern on physical features based on design. In this paper, we studied a possible failure patten based on physical features that is related with manufacturing process of PBA. And reliability improvement design based on PoF (Physical of Failure) were intruduced in this paper. Methods: A reliability prediction simulation were performed on the components A and B of the H system using Sherlock Software which is a PoF commercial tool from DFR solution. Solder fatigue and PTH fatigue analysis based on thermal cycling profiles and random vibration was analyzed on three earthquake response spectrum. Result: It was validated that life time and reliability improvement design through solder fatigue and PTH fatigue analysis in case of component. For compoenet B, random vibration fatigue was additionally analyzed and validated reliability for earthquakes profile. Conclusion: In design stage prior to manufacturing, PoF can be analyzed, and it is possible to make a reliability improvement/validated design using design data. This study can be applied in every design step and contribute to make more stable development product.

  • In this paper, a method for effectively detecting rotated face and rotation angle regardless of the rotation angle is proposed. Rotated face detection is a challenging task, due to the large variation in facial appearance. In the proposed polar coordinate transformation, the spatial information of the facial components is maintained regardless of the rotation angle, so there is no variation in facial appearance due to rotation. Accordingly, features such as HOG, which are used for frontal face detection without rotation but have rotation-sensitive characteristics, can be effectively used in detecting rotated face. Only the training data in the frontal face is needed. The HOG feature obtained from the polar coordinate transformed images is learned using SVM and rotated faces are detected. Experiments on 3600 rotated face images show a rotation angle detection rate of 97.94%. Furthermore, the positions and rotation angles of the rotated faces are accurately detected from images with a background including multiple rotated faces.

  • In high-resolution satellite image classification, when the color values of pixels belonging to one class are different, such as buildings with various colors, it is difficult to determine the color information representing the class. In this paper, to solve the problem of determining the representative color information of a class, we propose a method to divide the color channel of HSV (Hue Saturation Value) and perform object-based classification. To this end, after transforming the input image of the RGB color space into the components of the HSV color space, the Hue component is divided into subchannels at regular intervals. The minimum distance-based image classification is performed for each hue subchannel, and the classification result is combined with the image segmentation result. As a result of applying the proposed method to KOMPSAT-3A imagery, the overall accuracy was 84.97% and the kappa coefficient was 77.56%, and the classification accuracy was improved by more than 10% compared to a commercial software.

The subjects of the study were 10 students at H Elementary School in Ansan, and a total of 8 AI maker coding education using the Instructional Model for Maker Education based on SW Coding was applied to students to find out the degree of improvement of computational thinking. Students who participated in the class performed a process of solving real-life problems through coding and making activities, measured the degree of improvement in computing thinking before and after education through a computing thinking test paper, and observed students' thinking processes related to computing thinking components through interviews. As a result, it was confirmed that the average score of all students' computational thinking skills was improved, and the deviation of scores between students decreased. Through the interview, it was found that students actively utilize their thinking skills related to computational thinking skills in the problem-solving process. Through this, it was confirmed that AI maker coding education can have a positive effect on improving students' computing thinking skills.

  • It is essential to understand the characteristics of gas turbine components in order to carry out an off-design analysis of a gas turbine engine. In this study, a micro gas turbine engine test system was constructed to understand the performance characteristics of gas turbines. The temperature and pressure in the flow path of the micro gas turbine was collected by measuring the engine spool speed, and a compressor map was constructed by using the experimental data. The exhaust gas was collected at the turbine outlet and the combustion efficiency was calculated. An off-design performance analysis at ground static was performed using GasTurb software by applying the compressor map and combustion efficiency obtained from the experimental data. Futhermore, we compared and evaluated the analysis results with engine operating data.

In this study, a Delphi study of expert architectural engineers are conducted to find out (1) near future prospects of the field, (2) near future emerging jobs, (3) competencies needed for these jobs, and (4) educational content necessary to build these competencies with regards to the green architectural engineering. Initial Delphi survey consisting of open-ended questions in the above four areas were conducted and came out with 65 items after duplicate removal and semantic refinements. Further refinements via second and third wave of Delphi results into 40 items that the 13 architectural engineering experts may largely agree upon as future prospects with regards to the green architectural engineering. Findings indicate that it is expected that the demand for green architectural engineering and needs for automatic energy control system increase. Also, collaborations with other fields is becoming more and more important in green architectural engineering. The professional work management skills such as knowledge convergence, problem solving, collaboration skills, and creativity linking components from various related areas seem to also be on the increasing need. Near future ready critical skills are found to be the building environment control techniques (thermal, light, sound, and air), the data processing techniques like data mining, energy monitoring, and the control and utilization of environmental analysis software. Experts also agree on new curriculum for green building architecture to be developed with more of converging subjects across disciplines for future ready professional skills and experiences. Major topics to be covered in the near future includes building environment studies, building energy management, energy reduction systems, indoor air quality, global environment and natural phenomena, and machinery and electrical facility. Architectural engineering community should be concerned with building up the competencies identified in this Delphi preparing for fast advancing future.
