  • Everyone is aware that air and environmental pollutants are harmful to health. Among them, indoor air quality directly affects physical health, such as respiratory rather than outdoor air. However, studies that have examined the correlation between environmental and health information have been conducted with public data targeting large cohorts, and studies with real-time data analysis are insufficient. Therefore, this research explores the research with an indoor air quality monitoring (AQM) system based on developing environmental detection sensors and the internet of things to collect, monitor, and analyze environmental and health data from various data sources in real-time. It explores the usage of wearable devices for health monitoring systems. In addition, the availability of big data and artificial intelligence analysis and prediction has increased, investigating algorithmic studies for accurate prediction of hazardous environments and health impacts. Regarding health effects, techniques to prevent respiratory and related diseases were reviewed.

  • With the development of artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence is being introduced to automate systems throughout the industry. In the maritime industry, artificial intelligence is being applied step by step, through the paradigm of autonomous ships. In line with this trend, ABS and DNV have published guidelines for autonomous vessels. However, there is a possibility that the risk of artificial intelligence has not been sufficiently considered, as the classification guidelines describe the requirements from the perspective of ship operation and marine service. Thus in this study, using the standards established by the ISO/ IEC JTC1/SC42 artificial intelligence division, classification requirements are classified as the causes of risk, and a measure that can evaluate risks through the combination of risk causes and artificial intelligence metrics want to use. Through the combination of the risk causes of artificial intelligence proposed in this study and the characteristics to evaluate them, it is thought that it will be beneficial in defining and identifying the risks arising from the introduction of artificial intelligence into the marine system. It is expected that it will enable the creation of more detailed and specific safety requirements for autonomous ships.

  • As the Great Reset is discussed at the World Economic Forum due to the COVID-19 pandemic, artificial intelligence, the driving force of the 4th industrial revolution, is also in the spotlight. However, corporate research in the field of artificial intelligence is still scarce. Since 2000, related research has focused on how to create value by applying artificial intelligence to existing companies, and research on how startups seize opportunities and enter among existing businesses to create new value can hardly be found. Therefore, this study analyzed the cases of startups using the comprehensive framework of the multi-level perspective with the research question of how artificial intelligence based startups, a sub-industry of software, have different innovation patterns from the existing software industry. The target firms are gazelle firms that have been certified as venture firms in South Korea, as start-ups within 7 years of age, specializing in machine learning modeling purposively sampled in the medical, finance, marketing/advertising, e-commerce, and manufacturing fields. As a result of the analysis, existing software companies have achieved process innovation from an enterprise-wide integration perspective, in contrast machine learning technology based startups identified unit processes that were difficult to automate or create value by dismantling existing processes, and automate and optimize those processes based on data. The contribution of this study is to analyse the birth of artificial intelligence-based startups and their innovation patterns while validating the framework of an integrated multi-level perspective. In addition, since innovation is driven based on data, the ability to respond to data-related regulations is emphasized even for start-ups, and the government needs to eliminate the uncertainty in related systems to create a predictable and flexible business environment.

  • The expansion of the scope of product liability is necessary because the industrial environment has changed following the enactment of the Product Liability Act. Unlike human-coded algorithms, artificial intelligence is black-boxed according to machine learning, and even developers cannot explain the results. In particular, since the cause of the problem by artificial intelligence is unknown, the responsibility is unclear, and compensation for victims is not easy. This is because software or artificial intelligence is a non-object, and its productivity is not recognized under the Product Liability Act, which is limited to movable property. As a desperate measure, productivity may be recognized if it is stored or embedded in the medium. However, it is not reasonable to apply differently depending on the medium. The EU revise the product liability guidelines that recognize product liability when artificial intelligence is included. Although compensation for victims is the value pursued by the Product Liability Act, the essence has been overlooked by focusing on productivity. Even if an accident occurs using an artificial intelligence-adopted service, however, it is desirable to present standards according to practical risks instead of unconditionally holding product responsibility.

  • The importance and necessity of artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning, has recently been emphasized. In fact, artificial intelligence, such as intelligent surveillance cameras and other security systems, is used to solve various problems or provide convenience, providing solutions to problems that humans traditionally had to manually deal with one at a time. Among them, information security is one of the domains where the use of artificial intelligence is especially needed because the frequency of occurrence and processing capacity of dangerous codes exceeds the capabilities of humans. Therefore, this study intends to examine the definition of artificial intelligence and machine learning, its execution method, process, learning algorithm, and cases of utilization in various domains, particularly the cases and contents of artificial intelligence technology used in the field of information security. Based on this, this study proposes a method to apply machine learning technology to the method of classifying and detecting malware that has rapidly increased in recent years. The proposed methodology converts software programs containing malicious codes into images and creates training data suitable for machine learning by preparing data and augmenting the dataset. The model trained using the images created in this manner is expected to be effective in classifying and detecting malware.

  • In this study, we analyzed the image of artificial intelligence recognized by elementary students using semantic differential scale. First, we extracted 23 pairs of image adjectives related to perception of artificial intelligence. Adjectives were classified into three types related to recognition, emotion and ability and 827 elementary students were examined. Image factors were classified into four factors: convenience, technological progress, human-friendliness, and concern. As a result, they showed a clear image that artificial intelligence is clever, new, and complex but exciting. In comparison with variables, female students, coding experience and older students thought that artificial intelligence was more human-friendly and technological progressive.

  • The speed of processes and the extremely large amount of data to be used in Intelligence Transportations System (ITS) cannot be handling by humans without considerable automation. However, it is difficult to develop software with conventional fixed algorithms (hard-wired logic on decision making level) for effectively manipulate dynamically evolving real time transportation environment. This situation can be resolved by applying methods of artificial intelligence and data mining that provide flexibility and learning capability. This paper presents a brief introduction of data mining and artificial intelligence (AI) applications in Intelligence Transportation System (ITS), analyzing the prospects of enhancing the capabilities by means of knowledge discovery and accumulating intelligence to support in decision making.
