A study on Improvement Plan and problem of Home - based services (재가노인복지서비스의 문제점과 개선방안에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide the direction of the policy forwelfare of the home - based service by identifying the problem and improvement of the home - based service. In the fast growing society like korea social welfare policy for the home - based service. The core hypotheses, of this research that home - based services canexpand social support network and improve life satisfaction were aceptedor rejected, In other words, while the home - based services expanded the lold people social support network through the activities of social workers and volunteers, these services considering the findings of the this study, we can conclude that the current home - based services provided by social welfare have an effect upon increasing old peoples social support. But these services have no effect upon improving life satisfaction index.

The Effect of Family-Friendly Corporate Welfare Programs on Job Satisfaction of Married Female Employees (가족친화적 기업복지제도 이용가능 정도가 기혼여성근로자의 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • he purpose of this study was to assess if the availability of the family-friendly corporate welfare programs had an effect on job satisfaction of married female employees after controlling for other factors such as job, personal and household characteristics. This study analyzed 215 working mothers who had the children under 6 years of age using the Korea Labor Panel Data(2005). The study established that married female employees working in the companies with more family-friendly corporate welfare programs exhibited higher job satisfaction on working hours, communication and human Relationships and other fringe benefits. Therefore, we recommended that family-friendly corporate welfare programs should be more available and developed in order to promote better job satisfaction for married female employees.

A Study on the Mediating Effect of Job Stress, Job Attitude, and Social Support in the Relationship between Client Violence and Social Worker's Job Response (클라이언트 폭력과 사회복지사의 직무반응 관계에서 직무스트레스와 직무태도, 사회적 지지의 매개효과)

  • This study investigated the effects of job stress, job attitude, and social support on the relationship between client violence and social worker job response. The multi-mediating effect of job stress, job attitude, and social support between client violence and social worker job response was empirically analyzed. 257 social workers in social welfare facilities were analyzed using SPSS. The following conclusions were drawn. First, there was a significant correlation between client violence, job stress, job attitude, social support, and job response variables. Client violence was affecting variables related to social worker job response. Second, job stress, job attitude, and social support had multiple mediating effects. The parallel mediation effect and the serial mediation effect were verified. Third, job attitude was found to be a variable of multiple mediating effects. Fourth, job stress and social support were found to be double mediating effect variables. In response, programs and manuals suitable for the type of social welfare facilities and the policy basis for preparing countermeasures for social workers were limited, and follow-up studies on various variables were suggested.

A Study of Active Labor Market Policy and Unemployment : An Analysis Using Fuller-Battese Model (적극적 노동시장정책의 실업 감소 효과에 관한 연구)

  • This paper examines the effect of active labor market policy on the unemployment rates in 8 welfare states. This paper focuses on the following questions: what are the major predictors of the changes in unemployment rates?; and what is the effect of active labor market policy in reducing unemployment rates? Using the data from Comparative Welfare States Data Set by Stephens (1997), Key Indicators of the Labour Market by ILO (1999) and Social Expenditure Database by OECD (1999), this paper attempts to answer the above research questions. Fuller-Battese model, a data analysis method in pooled cross-sectional time-series analysis, is adopted to identify variables predicting changes in unemployment rates. This paper analyzes the predictors by using 3 analysis models about 2 types of unemployment (overall unemployment and long term unemployment). Results are as follows: (1) economic variable such as changes in GDP has a positive effect in reducing unemployment rates; (2) active labor market policy has a positive effect in reducing unemployment rates as well; (3) job brokering service among 3 major active labor market programs has a positive effect in reducing unemployment rates; and (4) there is an interaction effect between unemployment benefit level and active labor market policy in reducing unemployment rates. Through the empirical analysis, this paper provides valuable knowledge about effects of active labor market policy on unemployment in 8 welfare states and discusses implications for the active labor market policy in Korea.

A Study on the Job Stress of Social Welfare Officials and Administrative Officials

  • The purpose of this study is to present theoretical and policy implications based on the results of the empirical analysis of job stress in consideration of insufficient prior research on the level of job stress by public officials in charge of social welfare and public officials in general administration. For this purpose, social welfare and general administrative positions working at the City Hall of G Metropolitan City and five autonomous districts(including the Dong community service center) were selected as subjects for research. The data analysis used the SPSS statistical program to obtain technical statistics based on the average of the lower variables of the job stress. According to the analysis, there is a difference in the subjective perception level of public officials in charge of social welfare and public officials in general administration in both internal factors of job, such as job demands and job autonomy and external factors of job, such as job insecurity, organizational system, conflict of relations, inadequate compensation, and job culture. Based on this, it presented policy measures that require the granting of self-esteem of public officials in charge of social welfare, improvement of their duties, and adjustment of their workload to an appropriate level.

Radiologic study of mandibular foramen of mandibular prognathism by three-dimensional computed tomography (3차원 전산화단층영상을 이용한 턱나옴증 환자의 하악공의 방사선학적 연구)

  • Purpose : This study is aimed to evaluate the position of mandibular foramen of mandibula prognathism patients using 3-dimensional CT images in order to reduce the chance of an anesthetic failure of the mandibular nerve and to prevent the damage to the inferior alveolar nerve during the orthognathic surgery. Materials and Methods : The control group consist of 30 patients with class I occlusion. The experimental group consist of 44 patients with class III malocclusion. Three-dimensional computed tomography was used to evaluate the position of the mandibular foramina. Results : The distance between mandibular plane and mandibular foramen, class I was 25.385 mm, class III was 23.628 mm. About the distance between occlusal plane and mandibular foramen, class I was 1.478 mm, class III was 5.144 mm. The distance between posterior border plan of mandibular ramus and mandibular foramen had not statistically significant. About the distance between sagittal plane of mandible and mandibular foramen did not also showed statistically significant. Conclusion : The result of this study could help the clinicians to apprehend more accurate anatomical locations of the foramina on the mandible with various facial skeletal types. thereby to perform more accurate block anesthesia of the mandibular nerve and osteotomy with minimal nerve damage. In addition, this study could provide fundamental data for any related researches about the location of the mandibular foramina for other purposes.

The economic impact of mandatory group housing for pregnant sows in the pig industry

  • Starting from 2030, mandatory group housing for pregnant sows on pig farms has been enforced, requiring to secure the group housing spaces for pregnant sows. Additionally, six weeks after mating, pregnant sows are obligated to be raised in group housing spaces, and, the use of individual stalls is prohibited. This study analyzed the impact of mandatory group housing for pregnant sows on the pig industry using the equilibrium displacement model (EDM). The results showed a decrease in production due to the increase in space allocation per sow, but more significantly, consumers' willingness to pay, driven by animal welfare considerations, increased. This led to the increase in retail prices and farm prices by 13% and 25%, respectively. Analyzing the changes in social welfare, consumer surplus is increased by 5,887 billion won, and producer surplus is also increased by 10,655 billion won, contributing to the total increase in social welfare of 16,542 billion won. This suggests that the mandatory group housing for pregnant sows have positive impacts on both consumers and producers. However, this study did not consider the cost aspect, and, therefore future research is required to address the issue of cost.

A Study on the Social Support's Moderating Effect for the Elderly's Life Satisfaction

  • Purpose - This paper aims to obtain a theoretical understanding for the relationship among the elderly's leisure activity, social support, life satisfaction and mental loneliness in their life. This paper has the purpose to draw policy implications by the course of research and study as well as to find alternatives in enhancing the elderly's psychological well-being in a practical dimension. Research design, data, and methodology - Data has been collected from 380 elderly persons participating in leisure activities in 10 senior welfare service centers located in the Seoul area. A structured questionnaire sheet was used, and as the main analysis method for hypothesis verification, the hierarchical regression method was used. Results - Social support is moderating factor for the relationships among the productive leisure activity, life satisfaction and mental loneliness, but does not play the moderating role in the relationships such as consumptive leisure activity, life satisfaction and mental loneliness. Conclusions - It is necessary to make efforts to provide policies for promoting and expanding the elderly's participation especially in productive leisure activity. And also, an institutional support should be provided for maintaining and expanding a stable social relationship network for the elderly's participation.

Corporate Social Responsibility and its Relationship with Increasing Company Value

  • Purpose: The advantages of corporate social responsibility (CSR) include stronger recognition and reputation, which lead to a company's good public image, increased customer loyalty, operational cost saving, and employee retention. The purpose of the present research is to take a close look at the association between CSR and organization's value. Research design, data and methodology: The authors tried to obtain the high-quality textual data from mostly peer-reviewed journals using a PRISMA ((Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). The authors was to figure out adequate solutions from limited range of the current literature (only peer-reviewed research) regarding CSR and corporate value. Results: Our investigation indicates that CSR is essential to all businesses as it ensures they keep in touch with society, retaining top personnel, and achieving top financial success. Companies and organizations can engage in four corporate social responsibility initiatives to increase value, including environmental projects, charitable work, honest labor practices, and volunteer activity. Conclusions: An organizations should be involved in the community and consider how its actions affect the environment and society. Small or large businesses are expected to lead in developing a progressive CSR program that benefits people and the environment and continuously changes depending on the social and economic environment.

Ethical Use of Web-based Welfare Technology for Caring Elderly People Who Live Alone in Korea: A Case Study

  • This study examined ethical ways to use welfare technology in a situation where the demand for non-face-to-face welfare services using Cloud based healthcare systems had increased rapidly in caring for elderly people who live alone. Through focus group interviews with social workers related to the care of elderly people who live alone, in-depth interviews were conducted on the current situation, problems, ethical issues, and development directions arising in the implementation of welfare technology. The main areas of interest were focused on improving safety in caring them using IoT technology and enhancing emotional support in preventing lonely deaths using companion robot and AI speaker. Issues such as the need for individualization, client-centeredness, privacy, self-determination, competence, informed consent, right to know, convenience, and advocacy were identified as important ethical considerations related to use of welfare technology. The research results suggested that various stakeholders should participate in the development of ethical indicators and welfare technology for the ethical use of welfare technology.
