The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of social capital on industrial relations and firm performance, and to find out social capital is the antecedent factor of industrial relations. To serve the purpose of this study, we conducted the extensive survey on department managers and labor delegates of 110 Korean manufacturing firms. From the result, we identified that the industrial relations are more cooperative as the level of social capital increases, and the firm which has good relations between labor and management shows high performance. In addition, two factors of social capital (Trust/Participation) directly affect to the firm performance.
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine whether firms use social media to disseminate good news to various stakeholders thereby enhancing corporate social performance (CSP). Design/methodology/approach - This study collected data from various databases such as Korea Economic Justice Institute (KEJI) Index, VALUESearch, and TS2000, and such social media platforms as Instagram and Meta (formerly known as facebook). The sample of this study includes 3,474(firm-year) observations from 799 unique Korean firms between 2013-2022. This study conducts fixed effect panel regression analysis to test the hypotheses. Findings - First, we found both corporate use of social media, and the number of uploaded corporate news on social media were positively related to CSP. We also found that positive user reactions to the news on social media were positively related to CSP. Second, we examine the moderating roles of firm age in the relationships described above. The results show that firm age strengthens both the relationship between number of uploaded news on social media and CSP, and the relationship between positive user reactions to news on social media and CSP. Research implications or Originality - This study extends the social media research in the management literature by investigating how corporate use of social media, number of uploaded corporate news on social media, and the user reactions on the news on social media affect corporate social performance. For a practical implication, our results allow the stakeholders to better predict corporate future CSP. They suggest that ceteris paribus, firms that use social media actively, vis-a-vis firms that do not use social media actively, are more likely to get good CSP scores. They also suggest that such beneficial effects of social media will become more prominent as companies get older.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the casual relationship between nurses' social capital, job engagement and nursing performance and to verify the goodness of fit between a hypothetical model and actual data in order to suggest the best model. Methods: This survey was conducted with 250 nurses working in 3 general hospitals in Seoul. Data were collected from June 20 to July 29, 2016 and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 and AMOS 21.0. Results: Nurses' social capital and job engagement were found to have no direct effect on increasing nursing performance. But, it was found that social capital and job engagement had indirect effects on nursing performance through mediating organizational citizenship behavior. Social capital had direct effects on increasing job engagement and indirect effects on organizational citizenship behavior. Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that nurse managers should concentrate efforts on increasing nurses's job engagement and preparing organization to increase social capital in order to improve nursing performance.
The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze whether or not, if a community social service center was affiliated with a governing body running other community social service centers, the center would have better organizational performance in comparing to an independently running center. Data was collected from a nationwide mailed and self-administered survey, which 237 centers out of 343 community social service centers responded. Even if, the response rate was 72%, 218 centers were finally analyzed due to the weakness of reliability and incompleteness. By the way, measurement of organizational performance as the dependent variable has been substituted of the results of nationwide organizational evaluation project as the secondary data. One of findings is that 68% of 218 responding centers appeared to be affiliated with a governing body which running more than three other centers, while 41% being affiliated with a body which running more than five other centers. However, a logistic regression analysis which using organizational performance as the dependent variable, has failed to verify the hypothesis that a center which affiliated with a governing body running other centers has better organizational performance when comparing to an independent center. The researcher assumes that a part of governing bodies has better performance and improves competitiveness while the other larger part of them pursues simple organizational growth. Thus, this situation made that the overall evaluation of being affiliated with a large governing body was not positive.

The purpose of the paper was to investigate the relationship between the social familiarity and learners' participation and performance in terms of individual performance and team performance. In addition, experimental groups were split into two groups, depending on the level of social familiarity. The result showed that the social familiarity had positive correlational relations with the learners' participation, individual performance, and team performance. Additionally the group that showed high level of social familiarity had outperformed the others that showed low level of social familiarity. Some suggestions such that the importance of instructional strategy, which increase the social familiarity in web-based team learning environment were made.
As the CEO`s of game companies should be ready for the rapid change of technical environment of game industry, highly skilled employees and the social capital become very important factors in doing game business. 2013 Korea Game White Paper shows that many game companies prefer employees with job experience. The social capital and network help game companies get industrial information easily. This study empirically examines the relationship among CEO`s related business experience, corporate performance and social capital based on 134 Korean game companies. CEO`s characteristics are measured by using demographic characteristics including age, amount of education, and prior job experience and psychological characteristics, but this study focuses on related business experience. The results of this study show some significant relationship between the related business experience of CEO and nonfinancial performance of the firm. Secondly, this study verifies the moderating effect of the social capital between the related business experience of CEO and non-financial performance of the firm. The results of the moderating effect of the social capital show that social capital increases the non-financial performance.

Purpose: This study intends to analyze the effect of competitor pressure and customer pressure on social media technology use and the value of the business network and their implications for marketing performance. Research design, and methodology: A constructed questionnaire was conducted with 90 respondents of MSME's Business Actors in South Sulawesi Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis was applied to analyze and verify all the data. Results: Competitor pressure has a significant effect on social media technology, Competitor pressure has a positive and significant impact on business network accentuation. Customer pressure has a positive and significant impact on social media technology. Customer pressure has a positive and significant impact on business network accentuation. Social media technology utilization has a significant impact on Business Network Accentuation. Social media technology utilization has a significant effect on Marketing Performance. Business Network has a significant effect on Marketing Performance. Conclusions: It is an important thing for MSMEs to increase the use of social media technology to meet the demands of consumers and pressure from competitors. The use of social media technology must be implemented effectively and efficiently so that it can be utilized as an effective tool for distributing the value that own by a company to improve the company's marketing performance.
IT project teams are composed of experts from various domains with different backgrounds, such as business and technologies. Thus, enhancing knowledge sharing and increasing team social capital are critical for the success of the project. This study examines the relationship among the team social capital, team climate and team performance. A research model and hypotheses are developed from literature review and empirically validated. The research model consists of team social capital, team climate and team performance. Specifically, team social capital, as antecedents, wasconceptualized asinternal and external differentiated by team boundary, and team climate is conceptualized as innovative climate and supportive climate. Using measures adopted from previous studies, 166 data points were collected to test the research model and related hypotheses. PLS data analysis indicated that internal and external social capitalhave positive effect on innovative climate while internal social capital has a positive effect on supportive team climate. The innovative and supportive climate has significant effect on the team performance. Based on the results, we proposed several team management skills for IT project managers. Theoretical constributions are discussed at the end with limitations and further studies.
The purpose of this study was to identify the elements of virtuous cycle to lay a foundation for the coevolution of corporations and communities based on the entrepreneurship and social capital of social enterprises. The study first set out to add the pursuit of social goals to the components of entrepreneurship, namely innovation, progressive spirit, and risk sensitivity and categorized social capital into structural, cognitive, and relational capital. The study set six hypotheses and performed correlation and regression analysis to empirically analyze mediator effect of social capital in relationship between entrepreneurship and social enterprise performance. The findings were summarized as follows: First, relational capital had full mediated effect between entrepreneurship and economic performance of social enterprise. Second, relational capital had full mediated effect between entrepreneurship and social performance of social enterprise.
With the advent of communication technologies including electronic collaborative tools and conferencing systems provided over the Internet, virtual collaboration is becoming increasingly common in organizations. Virtual collaboration refers to an environment in which the people working together are interdependent in their tasks, share responsibility for outcomes, are geographically dispersed, and rely on mediated rather than face-to face, communication to produce an outcome. Research suggests that new sets of individual skill, knowledge, and ability (SKAs) are required to perform effectively in today's virtualized workplace, which is labeled as individual virtual competence. It is also argued that use of online social networking sites may influence not only individuals' daily lives but also their capability to manage their work-related relationships in organizations, which in turn leads to better performance. The existing research regarding (1) the relationship between virtual competence and task performance and (2) the relationship between online networking and task performance has been conducted based on different theoretical perspectives so that little is known about how online social networking and virtual competence interplay to predict individuals' task performance. To fill this gap, this study raises the following research questions: (1) What is the individual virtual competence required for better adjustment to the virtual collaboration environment? (2) How does online networking via diverse social network service sites influence individuals' task performance in organizations? (3) How do the joint effects of individual virtual competence and online networking influence task performance? To address these research questions, we first draw on the prior literature and derive four dimensions of individual virtual competence that are related with an individual's self-concept, knowledge and ability. Computer self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to use computer technology broadly. Remotework self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to work and perform joint tasks with others in virtual settings. Virtual media skill is defined as the degree of confidence of individuals to function in their work role without face-to-face interactions. Virtual social skill is an individual's skill level in using technologies to communicate in virtual settings to their full potential. It should be noted that the concept of virtual social skill is different from the self-efficacy and captures an individual's cognition-based ability to build social relationships with others in virtual settings. Next, we discuss how online networking influences both individual virtual competence and task performance based on the social network theory and the social learning theory. We argue that online networking may enhance individuals' capability in expanding their social networks with low costs. We also argue that online networking may enable individuals to learn the necessary skills regarding how they use technological functions, communicate with others, and share information and make social relations using the technical functions provided by electronic media, consequently increasing individual virtual competence. To examine the relationships among online networking, virtual competence, and task performance, we developed research models (the mediation, interaction, and additive models, respectively) by integrating the social network theory and the social learning theory. Using data from 112 employees of a virtualized company, we tested the proposed research models. The results of analysis partly support the mediation model in that online social networking positively influences individuals' computer self-efficacy, virtual social skill, and virtual media skill, which are key predictors of individuals' task performance. Furthermore, the results of the analysis partly support the interaction model in that the level of remotework self-efficacy moderates the relationship between online social networking and task performance. The results paint a picture of people adjusting to virtual collaboration that constrains and enables their task performance. This study contributes to research and practice. First, we suggest a shift of research focus to the individual level when examining virtual phenomena and theorize that online social networking can enhance individual virtual competence in some aspects. Second, we replicate and advance the prior competence literature by linking each component of virtual competence and objective task performance. The results of this study provide useful insights into how human resource responsibilities assess employees' weakness and strength when they organize virtualized groups or projects. Furthermore, it provides managers with insights into the kinds of development or training programs that they can engage in with their employees to advance their ability to undertake virtual work.
