Korean Executive Trust, Social Responsibility, and Financial Performance: A Moderated Mediation Model

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to explore the impacts of Korean executives' trust on a firm's corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and corporate financial performance (CFP), which depends on their individual social responsibility (ISR). Design/methodology/approach - A survey was conducted, and 273 Korean executives were recruited. I used SPSS version 25.0, AMOS version 26.0, SmartPLS version 3.2., and PROCESS Macro 3.4. to analyze the moderated mediation model. And, the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was employed to confirm the proposed relationships in the model. Findings - The results show that Korean executives' trust is positively related to CSR. I also found that Korean executives' trust is positively related to CFP. Moreover, I found that there is a mediating effect of a firm's CSR activities on the trust-CFP relationship. However, I didn't find conditional indirect and direct effects on the relationships among the proposed constructs. The findings overall suggest that Korean executives' trust is such an important mechanism that will affect firm-level CSR and CFP. Research implications or Originality - Although prior studies reveal that executives' trust in their subordinates positively influences cooperation, creativity, and innovation among subordinates in a team, it is still unclear whether executives' trust in their employees or strangers impacts firm-level CSR and CFP. Moreover, not many studies examined the mediating effect of CSR on executives' trust and CFP especially in the Korean context. Therefore, this study intends to fill the knowledge gap by focusing on South Korea. This study also contributes to extant CSR and trust literature, and practically contributes to executives, policy makers, and practitioners in South Korea.

모바일 기기 수용에 대한 심리적 요인에 대한 고찰: 중국 내 아이폰 선호를 중심으로 (An Investigation on the Impact of Psychological Factor on the Adoption of Mobile Device: Based on the Preferences of iPhone in China)

  • 아이폰의 판매는 중국 시장에서 특히 탁월한 실적을 보이고 있다. 본 논문에서는 체면민감성이 중국 대학생들의 아이폰 구매에 미치는 영향에 대해 고찰한다. 체면은 타인의식성, 자괴의식성, 사회격식성이라는 세 가지 세부개념으로 구성된다. 218명의 중국 대학생을 대상으로 설문 조사 하였다. 분석 결과, 타인의식성과 사회격식성이 아이폰 선호에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 자괴의식성은 그렇지 않았다. 추가적으로 경제력과 브랜드 민감도라는 두 조절변수의 영향도 유의하게 나타났다. 체면 민감성 중 타인의식성과 사회격식성이 유의한 영향을 미친다는 것은 아이폰이 효용재일 뿐만 아니라 사치재로서의 역할을 하고 있음을 암시한다. 애플사뿐만 아니라 모바일 기기 관련 비즈니스에서는 중국시장을 공략할 때 이러한 관리적 함의를 참고할 수 있을 것이다.

4차 산업혁명 시대의 기업사회공헌 활동의 진화 (Evolution of corporate social contribution activities in the era of the Fourth industrial revolution)

  • 최근 정부와 기업, 학계에서 4차 산업혁명에 대한 학습과 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 로봇과 인공지능, 블록체인과 사물인터넷 등 4차 산업혁명의 주요 아젠다를 활용한 기업 비즈니스 모델이 생겨나고, 지금까지의 기업환경, 교육환경, 생활환경뿐만 아니라 국제개발협력에서도 다양한 변화가 생기기 시작하였다. 본 연구에서는 4차 산업혁명의 영향을 가장 가까이 직면하고 있는 기업에서 진행하고 있는 사회공헌 활동의 변화를 살펴보았다. 즉 기업사회공헌의 정의와 활동내용을 살펴보고 4차 산업혁명이라고 불리는 현시대에서 각 기업이 갖고 있는 본연의 비즈니스를 통해 사회에 어떻게 기여할 수 있는지 사파리콤의 '엠페사', LG전자의 'AT Educom', LG유플러스의 '사물인터넷 활용 사회공헌' 그리고 KT의 '감염병 확산방지 플랫폼', 그리고 IoT를 활용한 Intel의 사례를 통해 확인해보았다. 그리고 기술개발에 따라 앞으로의 기업사회공헌 활동이 어떻게 변화할 것인지, 더욱 의미 있는 임팩트를 만드는 기업사회공헌 활동이 되기 위해 필요한 것들을 제시하였다. 가장 먼저는 기업사회공헌 활동의 성과측정이 용이해질 것과, 플랫폼을 활용한 사회공헌 활동이 증가하고, ICT 업계에서 기술을 통한 사회기여 활동이 활발하게 진행되며, 마지막으로는 기업간, 섹터간 공동으로 진행하는 사회공헌 활동이 늘어나게 되어, 기업이 영리만을 추구하는 집단이라는 인식에서 벗어나 앞으로는 사회를 위해 존재하는 기업시민으로서의 역할을 할 수 있음을 설명하였다.

해운산업에 대한 정부지원의 타당성 검토 (The Appropriatness of Government Support of Shipping Industry ; A General Equilibrium Approach)

  • In this study the economic impacts of government support of shipping industry in the labor rich country are appraised in a general equilibrium model. Shipping industry subsidies (which are supposed to be supplied by lump-sum tax) will decrease disposable income by shifting productive resources from traded goods to the comparatively disadvantageous transport sector, and at the same time reduce the implicit tariff effect by lowering transport costs. The net effect of shipping industry subsidies is to increase social welfare because the latter positive effect of shipping industry subsidies is to increase social welfare because the latter positive effect dominates the former negative effect. Such an increase in social welfare can never be expected from competitive traded goods industry subsidies in the case of which social welfare will actually decrease because of inefficient resource allocation resulting from the subsidies. In addition it is worth noting that the subsidies on the most capital intensive shipping industry will rectify unevenness in income distribution by raising relative price of labor contrary to subsidies on capital intensive traded goods.

Impact of Communication Technology on Global Creative Trends

  • This study attempts to explain how communication technology impacts global creative trends. We explore global creative trends based on award-winning creative topics presented at the 2016 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. After analyzing award-winning topics, five main creative trends were selected with the keywords: technology, story-telling, social media, causes, and humor. The 2016 Cannes Lions Festival demonstrated that technology (i.e., virtual reality, artificial intelligence) has expanded the limits of creativity. Story-telling is still considered to be effective for raising audience attention. Social media enhances consumer engagement while nurturing future consumer relationships. Supporting social causes allows companies to garner goodwill from the public. Humor is powerful when it appropriately appeals to both products and customers.

기혼근로자의 직무스트레스와 직장-가정갈등이 우울에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Married Worker's Job Stress and Work-Family Conflict on Depression)

  • The purpose of this research is to verify the impact of job stress on depression among married workers and to examine mediation effect of work-family conflict between the two variables. 356 married workers in Seoul and Gyonggi Province were selected to analyze. The results indicate that job stress was statistically influential on depression and work-family conflict. And job stress implied the partial mediation effect of work-family conflict, with both direct and indirect impacts on depression. These findings indicated that maltreatment of job stress and workfamily conflict would negatively impact on depression. Therefore, work organizations must launch and activate EAP(employee assistance programs) or family friendly welfare programs in order to increase the overall mental health of the employees.

  • The study investigates the media distinctiveness between twitter and other social media and describes how product information interpretation and responsiveness by internet users can be affected by the distinctive characteristics of twitter and blog media. The characteristics include relationship formation patterns among users, channel diversity, immediateness of information communication, information flow within media, media credibility, and management cost. Specifically, we statistically tested whether these characteristics are meaningfully differentiated by users. Results also showed that users perceived product information processing level and product evaluation direction differently based on these media characteristics. The current findings can serve as a pioneering work to provide a theoretical framework for examining social media characteristics and their impacts on consumer perception. In addition, this study practically suggests that marketers and network managers need to use differentiated communication strategies for twitters as a marketing strategic option.

4G Adoption : A Survey of Vietnam Market

  • The aim of this study is to assess the impacts of service properties, price expectancy, social influences, and switching costs on adoption intention of 4G in Vietnam. The research model was established by the theory of diffusion of innovation, technology acceptance model, service quality, social influences and switching costs. The result from customers using telecommunication services in Vietnam shows that adoption intention of 4G is affected directly by perceived usefulness, personal innovativeness, price expectancy, social influences, prior service quality and switching costs. Whereas, switching costs have negative effect on adoption intention. Other factors such as personal innovativeness, perceived ease of use and prior service quality have an indirect effect on adoption intention of 4G.

간호사의 사회심리적 건강과 동료의 지지가 환자 돌봄 능력에 미치는 영향 (The Impacts of Nurses' Psycho-social Health and Social Support from Colleagues on Patient Caring Ability)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of nurses' psycho-social health and social support from colleagues on patient caring ability. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was used and the participants in this study were 422 nurses from 3 general hospitals. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis with the SAS 9.4 program. Results: Total mean score for psychosocial health was $3.15{\pm}0.57$, for social support from colleagues, $3.43{\pm}0.55$, and for caring ability, $4.04{\pm}0.53$. Psychosocial health, social support from colleagues, and married status were identified as significant factors influencing patient caring ability. Conclusion: Findings from this study indicate that psychosocial health and social support from colleagues are related to patient caring ability, and thus, to improve nurses' caring ability for patient and for self, it is important to create a work environment that keeps nurses healthy and promotes collaboration with colleagues.

대학생의 자기효능감과 사회적 지지망 및 건강습관과의 관계 (Correlations among Self-Efficacy, Social Support Networks, and Health Behavior in Undergraduate Students)

  • Purpose: The principal objective of this study was to assess correlations among the self-efficacy, social support networks, and health behavior of undergraduate students. Methods: The data were collected via questionnaires that investigated self- efficacy, social support networks, health behaviors, health-related factors, and general characteristics. A total of 310 subjects were selected and evaluated for a 3-week period. The data of 300 subjects were analyzed using descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and correlation, after 10 questionnaires had been excluded due to incomplete data. Results: We noted significant differences and impacts on self-efficacy according to the grade, perceived health status, and BMI. Social support networks differed significantly according to dwelling type and pocket money. Health behavior differed depending on the gender, major, dwelling type, religion, health status, and BMI. We noted a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy & social support networks, and between social support networks & health behavior, but we noted no significant correlation between self-efficacy & health behavior. Conclusion: Health care providers should focus on self-efficacy and social support networks in order to prevent bad health behavior among undergraduates.
