  • This study aimed to analyze the effect of flexi-bar exercise on changes in postural alignment and balance of juvenile soccer players. The subjects were juveniles soccer players divided into exercise and control groups of 10 players each. The exercise group performed a flexi-bar exercise for 30 minutes a day three times weekly for eight weeks, and the differences in postural alignment and balance before and after the experiment and between study groups were analyzed. The measurements before the subjects exercised revealed overall asymmetric postural alignments and balance toward the right and rear sides. The study results showed that the exercise group had a statistically significant improvement in the height and angle of both shoulder, scapula, pelvis and hands(p<.05) after performing the exercise. Changes in balance showed that the exercise group had statistically significant reduction in changes in curve length(p<.05). The study verified that flexi-bar exercise can be effective for improving the postural alignment and balance of juvenile soccer players.

  • The main purpose of this study was to explore the causal relationships among transactional leadership, coaches' emotional intelligence, and athlete satisfaction in soccer teams. High school, university, and semi-professional soccer players(N=495) in Korea participated in a survey. Transactional leadership inventory, emotional intelligence test, and athlete satisfaction questionnaire previously developed to investigate was performed to utilize. The data were analyzed by structural equation model of the AMOS 18.0. The results were as follows; transactional leadership have meaningful influence on emotional intelligence and athlete satisfaction, and emotional intelligence have significant influences on athlete satisfaction. The mediating effect of leader's emotional intelligence between transactional leadership and athlete satisfaction was confirmed. Findings of this study can enhance our understanding of the emotional leadership to increase athlete satisfaction in Soccer players.

  • In this paper, we propose a defense NPC control model in the soccer game by applying the Decision Tree learning algorithm. The proposed model extracts the direction patterns and the action patterns generated by many soccer game users, and applies these patterns to the Decision Tree learning algorithm. Then, the proposed model decides the direction and the action according to the learned Decision Tree. Experimental results show that the proposed model takes some time to learn the Decision Tree while the proposed model takes 0.001-0.003 milliseconds to decide the direction and the action based on the learned Decision Tree. Therefore, the proposed model can control NPC in the soccer game system in real time. Also, the proposed model achieves higher accuracy than a previous model (Letia98); because the proposed model can utilize current state information, its analyzed information, and previous state information.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 12 weeks of muscle power and agility training on physical fitness factors and isokinetic muscle function in elementary school male soccer players. For this purpose, 6 muscle power and agility training programs were organized for 12 elementary school male soccer players and were conducted 3 times a week for 12 weeks. The results of measurement and analysis of physical fitness factors before and after the muscle strength and agility training are as follows. First, there was a significant difference in the standing long jump in place of muscle power(p<.001). Second, there was a significant difference in the standing vertical jump of muscle power(p<.05). Third, there was a significant difference in the side step of agility(p<.01). As a result, 12 weeks of muscle power and agility training can be expected to have a positive effect on the improvement of agility and agility of elementary school male soccer players, and it is judged that it can provide training basic data for injury prevention and performance improvement.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship with the Y-Balance Test, which evaluates dynamic balance ability according to the ankle joint dorsiflexion range of motion in a non-weight bearing posture. This study involved 27 male soccer players who regularly participate in the K3 League with more than 10 years of soccer experience. The Pearson Rank Correlation Coefficient was used to verify the relationship between ankle joint dorsiflexion and dynamic balance ability. The results of this study showed significant differences in PLRD (P<.05) and CS (P<.01) in the HADR group. A significant correlation between ankle joint dorsi-flexion range of motion and severity was found only in PMRD, PLRD, and CS. Therefore, a decrease in ankle joint dorsi-flexion is associated with a decrease in balance ability. In order to prevent injuries in soccer players, it is believed that regular evaluation of ankle joint range of motion as well as training to improve knee and hip joint strength and proprioception are necessary.

  • The purpose of the present research is to investigate the effects of acute soccer game on serum levels of neurotrophins and neurocognitive function. The subjects of the research were 15 healthy male adolescents. The subjects underwent two experiments: one experiment in the soccer game treatment (SOC) condition, and the other in the self-study treatment (CON) condition. Blood samples were collected at three times: before treatment (Pre), after treatment (Post), and 2 hours post treatment (Post-2 h) for the analyses of serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), nerve growth factor (NGF), and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). For the measurements of neurocognitive functions, the Stroop Color-Word test was performed at blood collecting times. The results of the research showed that the serum levels of BDNF, NGF, and IGF-1 were significantly increased after the soccer game (p<0.05), and significantly higher in SOC than CON at Post (p<0.05). In the Stroop Color-Word test, significantly increased scores were observed in SOC at Post (p<0.05), and significantly higher in SOC than in CON at Post and Post-2 h (p<0.05). These results suggest that acute soccer game has positive effects on neurocognitive functions by increasing the neurotrophins.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the effects of dual task training on balance and functional performance in high school soccer players with functional ankle instability. Methods: Twenty high school soccer players with functional ankle instability were randomly assigned to a single task training group and a dual task training group. One participant who did not participate regularly in the training was excluded. The single task training group (n=9) received balance training on an unstable surface. The dual task training group (n=10) received balance training on an unstable surface and had to catch thrown balls during the balance training. Both groups were trained for 4 weeks, 3 days a week. The balance and functional performance of both groups was measured before and after training. Balance was measured using an anterior-posterior and medio-lateral balance. Functional performance was measured based on a figure-of-8 hop test, up-down hop test, and a single hop test. All data were analyzed by repeated two-way ANOVA tests. Results: A time by group interaction effect was not observed in the medio-lateral balance test, figure-of-8 hop test, or single hop test (p>0.05). A time by group interaction effect was observed in the anterior-posterior balance and up-down hop test (p<0.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that dual task training improved balance and functional performance better than single task training for some items.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the changes of exercise-induced stress response with acute anaerobic exercise in elite soccer players of university. The subjects were divided into elite soccer players of university (SG, n=10) and control group (CG, n=10). Subjects were tested three consecutive Wingate test for 30 seconds involving 2 times of 3 mins of resting time. In addition, whole blood and capillary blood were collected at rest, immediately post-exercise and 60 mins. of recovery time. Obtained results were as follows: Evaluated mean power and peak power of SG group was significantly higher than that of CG group in the all phase of Wingate test, respectively (p<.01). Although resting serum TG, TC, HDLC levels were not significant difference between SG and CG group, resting serum glucose of SG group was significantly lower than that of CG group. In addition, serum CRP levels of SG group were significantly lower than that of CG group at rest, immediately post-exercise and 60 mins of recovery time, respectively (p<.01). In serum cytokines, in spite of no significant differences in IL-1β levels between SG and CG group, IL-6 levels of SG group were significantly lower than that of CG group at immediately post-exercise and 60 mins. of recovery time, respectively (p<.05, p<.01). From these results, long-term combination training have a crucial role in amelioration of acute exerciseinduced stress response in elite soccer players.
