X선 토모그램의 Smoothing 효과가 암석의 물성 예측에 미치는 영향 분석 (Smoothing Effect in X-ray Microtomogram and Its Influence on the Physical Property Estimation of Rocks)

  • 암석의 물성을 정확히 예측하기 위해서는 물성에 일차적인 효과를 미치는 공극구조에 대한 이해가 매우 중요하며, 정확한 공극구조와 물성시뮬레이션을 이용한 다양한 물성예측 및 변화양상의 정량적 상관관계는 많은 지구물리분야에 응용할 수 있다. 최근 비파괴 구조해석방법, 특히 X선 토모그래피를 이용한 고분해능 스캔 등이 상용화되고 컴퓨터의 성능이 향상됨에 따라 실제의 공극구조를 이용하여 투수율을 예측하는 연구가 시도되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 연구를 투수율뿐만 아니라 속도와 전기전도도의 영역으로 확장하려는 시도를 하였다. 하지만 토모그래피 방법에서 발생하는 smoothing 효과에 의해 공극구조가 왜곡되고 계산된 물성에 오차가 발생하여, 영상처리기법(sharpening filtering 및 인공신경망 분류법)을 사용하여 smoothing 효과를 제거하는 방법을 시도하였다. 그 결과 가시적으로 향상된 공극구조를 얻을 수 있었고, 투수율 및 전기전도도의 계산값도 이론적 모델링과 유사한 정도의 정확도를 얻을 수 있었다. 하지만 속도의 경우에는 smoothing 효과의 제거에도 불구하고 오차도 상대적으로 크고 향상정도도 매우 미미하였다. 박편과 토모그래피에서 얻어진 공극구조의 비교 연구를 통하여 본 연구에서 사용된 사암의 경우에는 토모그래피에서 얻어진 해상도가 너무 낮은 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이러한 이유로 smoothing 효과가 제거되어도 속도예측의 향상은 그리 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서 제시된 방법은 토모그램의 smoothing 효과를 효율적으로 제거하였으며 이는 토모그래피방법으로 공극구조를 획득할 때 유용하게 사용될 것으로 기대된다. 또한 속도예측의 경우 토모그램의 해상도가 매우 중요한 인자로 판명되었으며 투수율 예측에 일반적으로 사용되는 해상도보다 최소 세 배 이상의 높은 해상도가 요구되는 것으로 파악되었다.

Dynamic displacement estimation by fusing biased high-sampling rate acceleration and low-sampling rate displacement measurements using two-stage Kalman estimator

  • In this paper, dynamic displacement is estimated with high accuracy by blending high-sampling rate acceleration data with low-sampling rate displacement measurement using a two-stage Kalman estimator. In Stage 1, the two-stage Kalman estimator first approximates dynamic displacement. Then, the estimator in Stage 2 estimates a bias with high accuracy and refines the displacement estimate from Stage 1. In the previous Kalman filter based displacement techniques, the estimation accuracy can deteriorate due to (1) the discontinuities produced when the estimate is adjusted by displacement measurement and (2) slow convergence at the beginning of estimation. To resolve these drawbacks, the previous techniques adopt smoothing techniques, which involve additional future measurements in the estimation. However, the smoothing techniques require more computational time and resources and hamper real-time estimation. The proposed technique addresses the drawbacks of the previous techniques without smoothing. The performance of the proposed technique is verified under various dynamic loading, sampling rate and noise level conditions via a series of numerical simulations and experiments. Its performance is also compared with those of the existing Kalman filter based techniques.

가중 평활화 기법을 이용한 GPS L1 단일 주파수 수신기의 상대 측위 정밀도 향상 (THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE RELATIVE POSITIONING PRECISION FOR GPS L1 SINGLE FREQUENCY RECEIVER USING THE WEIGHTED SMOOTHING TECHNIQUES)

  • GPS 단일 주파수(L1) 수신기의 상대 측위 정밀도 향상을 위해 가중 평활화 기법(weighted smoothing technique)을 적용하고 다양한 기선에 대해 자료 처리를 수행하였다. C/A 코드를 이용한 의사거리의 측정 오차를 최소화하기 위하여 위상 가중 평활화 기법을 활용하였으며, 위상 신호의 끊김 현상으로 인한 결과를 보완하기 위해 위치 평활화 기법을 적용하였다. 대전에 위치한 IGS 기준점을 기점으로 중${\cdot}$장기선(5km, 10km, 30km, 40km, 150km)에 대해 자료 처리를 수행하였으며, 이때 기선에 따라 대기 모델(이온층${\cdot}$대류층)등 추가적인 오차 요인들을 고려하였다. 이 논문은 이러한 가중 평활화 기법을 활용하여 시간이 경과함에 따라 보다 안정적인 결과를 산출할 수 있었음을 제시하고 있으며, 사이클 슬립등 주의 환경에 민감한 오차들은 위치 평활화 기법을 써서 보완할 수 있음을 나타내고 있다. 이러한 결과들을 토대로 가중 평활화 기법을 실시간 응용분야는 물론 후처리 응용분야에도 적용이 가능함을 발견하였고, 이러한 기법들은 반송파 위상 자료를 이용하는 모호 정수 결정기술과 유사한 결과를 산출할 수 있어, 대체 기법으로 활용가능 할 것으로 기대된다.

  • The gridded environmental data is usually provided by the numerical simulation coupled with a data assimilation technique and various inter- or extrapolation algorithms, both of which are based on the observation spanning from simple equipments to satellites. But it is difficult to represent the natural phenomenon such as sea mount, internal-wave, warm eddy in modeling or observation because of increase in the complexity of model. This paper introduces the algorithm artificially representing the natural phenomenon and the techniques applying it to the gridded volume data and smoothing for natural effects. Moreover, the inserted results are analyzed by use of graphical tool. The results can be used for the battle simulation or acoustic model.

  • In this paper, we address issues associated with mixed-lingual text-to-speech based on context-dependent HMMs, where there are multiple sets of HMMs corresponding to each individual language. In particular, we propose smoothing techniques of synthesis parameters at the boundaries between different languages to obtain more natural quality of speech. In other words, mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) at the language boundaries are smoothed by applying several linear and nonlinear approximation techniques. It is shown from an informal listening test that synthesized speech smoothed by a modified version of linear least square approximation (MLLSA) and a quadratic interpolation (QI) method is preferred than that without using any smoothing technique.

  • In the rigid-plastic finite element simulation of hot forging processes using hexahedral mesh, remeshing of a flash is important for design and control of the process to obtain desirable defect-free products. The mesh compression method is a remeshing technique which enables the construction of an effective hexahedral mesh in the flash. However, because the mesh is distorted during the compression procedure of the mesh compression method, when it is used in resuming the analysis, it causes discretization error and decreases the conversance rate. Therefore, mesh smoothing is necessary to improve the mesh quality. In this study, several geometric mesh smoothing techniques and optimization techniques are introduced and modified to improve mesh quality. Then, the most adaptive technique is recommended for the mesh compression method.

단기수요예측 알고리즘 (An Algorithm of Short-Term Load Forecasting)

  • Load forecasting is essential in the electricity market for the participants to manage the market efficiently and stably. A wide variety of techniques/algorithms for load forecasting has been reported in many literatures. These techniques are as follows: multiple linear regression, stochastic time series, general exponential smoothing, state space and Kalman filter, knowledge-based expert system approach (fuzzy method and artificial neural network). These techniques have improved the accuracy of the load forecasting. In recent 10 years, many researchers have focused on artificial neural network and fuzzy method for the load forecasting. In this paper, we propose an algorithm of a hybrid load forecasting method using fuzzy linear regression and general exponential smoothing and considering the sensitivities of the temperature. In order to consider the lower load of weekends and Monday than weekdays, fuzzy linear regression method is proposed. The temperature sensitivity is used to improve the accuracy of the load forecasting through the relation of the daily load and temperature. And the normal load of weekdays is easily forecasted by general exponential smoothing method. Test results show that the proposed algorithm improves the accuracy of the load forecasting in 1996.

  • This paper represents the computer application techniques of initial and modification machining for dies with 3-dimensional scluptured surfaces. All procedures from die design to die machining and measurement are covered. The component of modelling is data management and modification (extrapolation and smoothing), surface modelling, and nc program preparation. Also this paper introduces the utility for successful and efficient operation of system such as map generation, data communication, tool path verification, contour map generation, graphic processing of extrapolation and smoothing results, and CAD/CAM system interface. Examples are given to illustrate the modelling.
