  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the reason why smartphone users do not use mobile banking based on Status Quo Bias and to find out whether there is a difference between passive resistance and active resistance. Design/methodology/approach This study made a design of the research model based on Status Quo Bias. SPSS 23.0 and SmartPLS 2.0 were used for the analysis. Multiple group analysis was performed to identify differences between groups. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, this study confirmed that inertia and perceived risk affected smartphone users who do not use mobile banking. According to the type of resistance, the active resistance group(64.2%) was more than the passive resistance group(35.8%), and it was confirmed that there was a difference in the reasons for not using mobile banking between passive and active resistance group. That is, the greatest difference between passive and active resistance groups was found to be perceived risk, which is an assessment of risk.

  • The increase in user data stored in the device implies the increase in threats of users' sensitive data. Currently, smartphone authentication mechanisms such as Pattern Lock, fingerprint recognition are widely used. Although, there exist disadvantages of inconvenience use and dependence that users need to depend on their own memory. User behavior based authentication mechanism have advantages of high convenience by offering continuous authentication when using the mobile device. However, these mechanisms show limitations on low accuracy of authentication and there are researches to improve the accuracy. This paper proposes improved authentication mechanism that uses user's smartphone application usage pattern which has not considered on earlier studies. Also, we analyze performance of proposed mechanism with collected datasets from actual use of smartphone applications.

Mobile users also demand new service and diverse contents different from vice oriented services and its quality improvement. Recently Smartphone has shown up and changed Mobile & Telecommunication industry and lead activating the industry. Particularly Smartphone users enjoy many different functions and service provided by Application Market. Actually this Application Market would lead improving Mobile& Telecommunication industry. This fact is worthy of notice. Therefore This study focus on Application Market and analyse what determinants affect user's intention to use Application Market. Mainly e-Servqual and TAM model are applied and research model was established and empirically tested. As a result information, transaction and design quality significantly effect on user's intention and perceived usefulness and easy of use also significantly more effect on user's intention. There will be several implications to establish strategy for application market based on this results.

  • With the recent increase in the use of disposable products, it is urgently necessary to reduce the use of disposable products and to increase the recycling rate as much as possible in order to prevent environmental damage. In this paper, we introduce , a smartphone application that provides recycling-related information and supports correct separation and discharge. This system automatically recognizes and automatically classifies the type of item, by applying an effective object recognition technique, when the camera points at the item to be discharged. It is more effective and convenient compared to other existing smartphone applications. This system is expected to contribute to environmental protection by increasing the recycling rate in daily life.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the main keywords and research topics used in research on problematic smartphone use (PSU) among children (6-12 years old), including parental factors. Methods: The publication period for the literature was set from January 2007 to January 2022, as smartphones were first released in 2007. In total, 395 articles were identified, 230 of which were included in the final analysis. Text network analysis was performed using NetMiner 4.5. Results: Research on this topic has steadily increased since 2007, with 40 papers published in 2021. Eight main research topics were derived: group 1, parental attitudes; group 2, children's PSU behavior and parental support; group 3, family environment and behavioral addiction; group 4, social relationships; group 5, seeking solutions; group 6, parent-child relationships; group 7, children's mental health and school adaptation; and group 8, PSU in adolescents. Conclusion: Parental factors related to PSU have been studied in various aspects. However, more active research on school-age children's PSU needs to be conducted due to the paucity of research in this population compared to studies conducted among adolescents. The results of this study provide useful data for selecting research topics in the field of PSU.

  • The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between smartphone usage time and oral health among Korean adolescents using data from the 13th (2017) Korea Youth Health Behavior Survey, which included 62,276 subjects. The daily smartphone usage time was categorized as not used, less than 2 hours, more than 2 hours, less than 4 hours, and more than 4 hours. Our results reveal that 60.1% of participants and 61.7% of smartphone users experienced oral disease symptoms annually, 27.4% of total adolescents used smartphone more than 4 hours daily during weekdays, and 53.8% more than 4 hours daily on weekends. The results from multivariate logistic regression analysis adjusting general characteristics show that the adjusted odds ratio (aOR) for risk of oral disease experience was 1.78 (95% confidence interval, CI 1.67-1.91) times higher in the group that used smartphones more than 4 hours a day on weekdays and 1.81 (95% CI 1.70-1.93) times higher in the group that used smartphones more than 4 hours a day on weekends compared to the group that did not use smartphones. The results indicate that smartphone overuse among Korean adolescents has a harmful effect on oral health. Education programs for reducing excessive use of smartphones among adolescents will help promote oral health.

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to describe the influence of smartphone usage on the upper limb muscles while in stable and unstable positions and during gait. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The study was conducted with 20 right-handed university students between 20 and 27 years of age. Experiments were carried out on students who have used cell phones for more than a year. In this study, experiments were performed with one-handed and two-handed smartphone operations while on stable ground, and the same parameters were measured during smartphone use on unstable ground and during gait. Subjects were instructed to write a text message in Korean on the smartphone for 3 minutes. This was repeated 3 times, with a rest period of 10 seconds given between each 3-minute period. Electromyography was used to record the muscle activity of the upper trapezius, extensor carpi radialis, extensor pollicis longus, and abductor pollicis (AP) during phone operation. Results: The muscle activity value for the right AP in one-handed and the left-AP in two-handed operations was statistically higher than the other muscles in the stable position and during gait (p<0.0001). Also, the right AP in the one- handed operation condition was statistically higher than the two-handed condition (p<0.0001). Conclusions: The use of smartphones while in a stable position resulted in high muscle activity of the right upper limb AP. However, in an unstable position, there were no significant differences from the other muscle activities. Using smartphone while assuming various positions may lead to musculoskeletal disorders in different places.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the optimal algorithm to extract medical radiation induced pixel signal from complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensors of smartphones camera. The pixel intensity and pixel number of smartphone camera were measured as the X-ray dose was increased. The front camera of the smartphone camera has low noise property and excellent dose response as compared to the back camera of the smartphone. The indirect method which uses scintillation crystal in front of the smartphone camera, couldn't improve the X-ray detection efficiency as compared to the direct method which does not use any scintillator in front of the smartphone camera. When we used the algorithm which employing threshold level on the pixel intensity and pixel number, the dose linearity was more higher for the pixel intensity rather for the pixel number. The use of pixel intensity of Y color component which represents the grey scale, would be efficient in terms of the radiation detection efficiency and reducing the complexity of the image processing. We expect that the radiation dose monitoring can be managed effectively and systematically by using the proposed radiation detection algorithm, thus eventually will contribute to the public healthcare.
