  • In this paper, we are introduced a certification system for open network environment. The Kerberos which was developed by MIT uses a secret key cryptosystem for authentication. It is secure and efficient for closed network users to authenticate each others. However, the kerberos has a disadvantage of managing a lot of secret keys for In this paper, we are introduced a certification system for open network environment. users in the open network environment. This paper suggests a method that uses X.509 to provide public keys with certification to Kerberos users for authentication in the X.500 directory standard. And we also suggest the smartcard as data storage device to enhance the security and availability.

  • In these days, various wireless internet services are possible since the advanced wireless networks enable to transfer more data than before and smarter devices have developed to display the multimedia information more efficiently. Therefore, Korean MIPS such as SKT and LGT provide many kinds of advanced services such as wireless on-line shopping, mobile banking system and etc using 2.5 generation wireless network technology and smartcards. In a transportation system, a cellular phone can be used as a useful payment tool since most people always keep it and a mobile payment system has developed as infrastructure for wireless on-line services. In this paper, a mobile transportation payment system is introduced. A driver needs to pay a toll fee when he/she uses the highways. Recently, a high pass system has introduced, in which a vehicle can pass a toll gate without stopping to pay the fee to a counter. The payment is done automatically by an attached payment device. We have developed an advanced mobile system in which a smartcard embedded cellular phone is used as a payment device. The personnel and financial information is stored at a smartcard and the communication between the phone and OBU(On Board Unit) is done by Bluetooth.

  • A multi-server architecture has been proposed to increase the efficiency of resources due to the rapid growth of computer networks and service providing servers. The smartcard-based authentication protocol in the multi-server environments has been continuously developed through various studies. Recently, Chun-Ta Li et al proposed an authentication protocol that solves Xiong Li el al's authentication protocol vulnerability to user impersonation attack and session key disclosure attack. However, Chun-Ta Li et al's authentication protocol has a problem with user impersonation in the vulnerability analysis and has an unsuitable authentication process. Therefore, this paper proposes a smartcard-based authentication protocol in the multi-server environments that solves the denial of service attack and replay attack vulnerabilities of the authentication protocol proposed by Xiong Li et al.

  • This study provides two channel structure and two factor authentication. First, a purchasing request by Internet and then user certification and a settlement approval process by mobile communication. Second, it support that proposal protocol utilize a partial factor value of stored in users smartcard, smart phone and password of certificate. Third, storage stability is improved because certificate store in smartcard. Finally, proposal protocol satisfy confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and non- repudiation on required E-commerce guideline. In comparative analysis, Efficiency of the proposal protocol with the existing system was not significantly different. But, In terms of safety for a variety of threats to prove more secure than the existing system was confirmed.

  • As the innovative technologies related to ubiquitous computing are being rapidly developed in recent IT trend, the concern for IT dysfunction(e.g., personal information abuse, information risk, threat, vulnerability, etc.) are also increasing. In our study, we suggested how to design and implement to multiple schemes for strong authentication mechanism in real system environments. We introduce the systematic and secure authentication technologies that resolve the threats incurring from the abuse and illegal duplication of financial transaction card in the public and financial institutions. The multiple schemes for strong authentication mechanism applied to java technology, so various application programs can be embedded, Independent of different platforms, to the smartcard by applying the consolidated authentication technologies based on encryption and biometrics(e.g., finger print identification). We also introduce the appropriate guidelines which can be easily implemented by the system developer and utilized from the software engineering standpoint of view. Further, we proposed ways to utilize java card based biometrics by developing and applying the 'smartcard class library' in order for the developer and engineers involved in real system environment(Secure entrance system) to easily understand the program. Lastly, we briefly introduced the potential for its future business application.

  • Although password-based authentication as known as knowledge-based authentication was commonly used but intrinsic problems such as dictionary attack remain unsolved. For that the study on possession-based authentication was required. User remote authentication using smartcard is proceeding actively since Lee et al. proposed user remote authentication using knowledge-based information(password) and possession-base information(smartcard) in 2002. in 2009, Xu et al. proposed a new protocol preserving user anonymity and Shin et al. proposed enhanced scheme with analysis of its vulnerabilities on user anonymity and masquerading attack in 2012. In this paper, we analyze Shin et al. scheme on forward secrecy and insider attack and present novel user authentication based on elliptic curve cryptosystem which is secure against forward secrecy, insider attack, user anonymity and masquerading attack.

  • CAS(Conditional Access System) is used in Pay-TV System to prohibit unauthorized user(s) accessing the contents in IPTV broadcasting environment. In the CAS, Smartcard transfers CW which is necessary in the process of descrambling the scrambled program to STB. CW hacking problem is one of the most serious problems in pay-TV system. There have been many researches on generating secure communication channel between smartcard and STB for secure transmitting, But they had problems in efficiency and security. In this paper, we propose a lightweight key agreement protocol based on a symmetric key algorithm. We show that our proposed protocol is more efficient than existing protocols by comparing the amount of computations, and analyzing the security requirement of the proposed protocol.

  • The power analysis attack is a physical attack which can be applied to the cryptosystems such as smartcard. We try to experimental attack to a smart card which implemented Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem adopting NAF algorithm as a secret key recording method. Our differential power analysis attack is a potential threat to that implementation. The attacker measures the power traces during the multiplication with secret key bits in a target smart card and the multiplication with the guessed bits in other experimental one. The comparison of these two traces gives a secret bit, which means that attacker can find all secret key bits successively.
