  • The effect of tool geometry on the tool wear in turning the austenitic stainless steel, STS 304 was investigated. The wear of TiN-TiCN-TiC-TiAlN coated tungsten carbide tool was the smallest, showing larger wear in the order of Si-Al-O-N ceramic, TiN coated tungsten carbide, TiN- TiCN- TiN coated tungsten carbide, TiC-TiN cermet and M20 tungsten carbide tools at the same cutting conditions. The S-type tool of M20 with the larger side cutting edge angle showed the smallest tool wear in all tests due to preventing the groove wear of the side cutting edge. The wear of the S-type tool with the rake angle of $15^{\circ}$ became smaller than with that of $-5^{\circ}$, but the tool with the nose radius of 0.8mm did not perform much better with increasing the rake angle.

  • This paper tries to find out the characteristics of the vernacular dwellings in Noksan area which has been a part of Kaya cultural realm. Through the analyses of its environments and several practical unit plans. The characteristic of the vernacular dwellings in thes arer are as below. The dwellings has been transfigured form [Omaksari] hut which is generally the smallest house form in Korea. The noticeable vernacular hut in this area is smallest 4-kan double-wing plan which is irregular 전 shape, but they call it single wing and 2-kan plan. Leed which can be obtained easily in thes area is used on roof and in wall. Timbers used in constrution are very slim or rather weak, but they were treated carafully. The chimney form in this area seems the results of minimizing of their being from the invasion of Japanese pirate, but also it seems an effective method of heat control. In conclusion, we cannot deny that the house form of this area seems affected by its exclusive natural and social environments.

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the free flow of the unpolymerized resin by its weight for 10 minutes by one minute interval, and to measure the dimensional change of composite resins during the irradiation of visible light(Quich light VL-l Kuraray Japan) using visible leser displacement meter(LC-2210 Kerence Japan). The unpolymerized resin was cured by the visible light for 40 seconds, the dimensional change was measured at the begining of irradiation for 5 minutes. The results were as follows : 1. In free flow LFI was the largest, BLI was the smallest at $23^{\circ}C$ and CFP was the largest, and BL was the smallest at $37^{\circ}C$. 2. In dimensional change CFI, LFP, LEI and CFP was excessively contracted flow the begining of irradiation until 15 seconds but BLI and BL was excessively contracted until 30 seconds BL and BLI in dimensional change was much larger than LFI and CFP.

  • We study in this paper both distributed power control and removal algorithms for multimedia CDMA wireless networks. In our study, users can have different data rates as well as different quality of service (QoS) requirements. We derive a necessary and sufficient condition for the fully distributed power control (FDPC) algorithm to find a feasible power set. We also prove that, if the maximal power level is used at the start, then the distributed constrained power control (DCPC) algorithm is equivalent to the FDPC algorithm. For the connection removal algorithm, we prove that the non-reinitialized removal algorithm finds a feasible power set faster and employs smaller power levels than the reinitialized one does. Performances of some connection removal criteria are also studied. Our simulation results reveal that the smallest normalized CIR (SNC) and largest CIR requirement (LCR) criteria result in smaller outage probability than the smallest CIR (SC) criterion in a multimedia environment.

  • Various base isolation systems, which are widely used, are compared for aseismic performances of multi-span continuous bridge. They are the P-F, RB, LRB, R-FBI and EDF systems. Sensitivity analyses are carried out to determine the design parameters of various devices. The design parameters, natural period of the isolated bridge and friction coefficient of the bearing, are determined by the reciprocal relationship between displacement and bending moment of the structure. Then the relative effectiveness of the bearings is described. Bridge with the R-FBI system shows the smallest peak displacement of deck whereas bridge with the EDF system shows the smallest peak bending moment of the lower end of pier in numerical examples. Furthermore, the peak responses of bridge with the friction type bearing are less sensitive to substantial variations in the frequency range and intensity of the ground excitation than those with the rubber type bearing.

  • We Observe a sequence of i. i. d random variables with density f or g. Only if g is true we should stop the process. Hence. the testing problem is completely described by a stopping time. Among all stopping times with error probability of first kind not exceeding a given bound, the one-sided sequential probability ratio test has smallest expected sample size if g is true. Moreover, the generalized one-sided SPRT has smallest expected sample size for g in the class of stopping times with expected sample size under f not falling below a given bound.

Length-based Smallest Elapsed time Selection(LSE)을 제안한다 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안하는 LSE 방식이 기존의 SE(Smallest Elapsed time)에 비해서 버스트 손실 성능 면에서 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

  • Free energy perturbation and molecular dynamics simulations were carried out to investigate the relative binding affinities of [17] ketonand (1) toward alkali metal cations in methanol. The binding affinities of 1 toward the alkali metal cations were calculated to be in the order Li+ > Na+ > K+ > Rb+ > Cs+, whereas our recent theoretically predicted and experimentally observed binding affinities for [18]starand (2) were in the order K+ > Rb+ > Cs+ > Na+ > Li+. The extremely different affinities of 1 and 2 toward smaller cations, Li + and Na+ , were explained in terms of the differences in their ability to change the conformation to accommodate cations of different sizes. The carbonyl groups constituting the central cavity of 1 can reorganize to form a cavity with the optimal M+ -O distance, even for the smallest Li+, without imposing serious strain on 1. The highest affinity of 1 for Li+ was predominantly due to the highest Coulombic attraction between the smallest Li+ and the carbonyl oxygens of 1.

  • Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has been widely used as a catalyst for the bifunctional activities of hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions (HER and OER). Here, we investigated size dependent HER and OER performance of MoS2. The smallest size (90 nm) of MoS2 exhibits the lowest overpotential of -0.28 V at -10 mAcm-2 and 1.52 V at 300 mAcm-2 with the smallest Tafel slopes of 151 and 176 mVdec-1 for HER and OER, respectively, compared to bigger sizes (2 ㎛ and 6 ㎛) of MoS2. The better HER and OER performance is attributed to high electrochemical active surface area (6 × 10-4 cm2) with edge sites and low charge transfer resistance (18.1 Ω), confirming that the smaller MoS2 nanosheets have the better catalytic behavior.
