The performance of the BEWE(Bearing Estimation Without Eigendecomposition) algorithm depends on the sensor outputs which are selected to construct the projection matrix. In this paper, we construct the covariance matrix of the bearing estimates for two targets and propose the criterion to select the sensor outputs which minimize the covariance matrix. The computer simulation conforms that the estimation error is smallest when the sensor outputs are selected based on the proposed criterion.

In this paper, we propose and developed a keyglove using the touch-typing method as new solutions to the problem of text input into the mobile computing devices. This device recognizes that character is typed in though the hand's movements analysis and requires no additional space on a person's desktop or work surface, and can be easily used with computers of any size, even the smallest mobile computer, and is designed as an input device for wearable computers and virtual environment. In this study, several methods to convert rain rate data for various time intervals to one-minute rates are compared. High-resolution tipping bucket precipitation records for seven locations in a tropical region are analyzed and compared using these conversion models. The Segal, Chebil, and Burgueno methods give the smallest average errors below 10% at different integration times.

Assuming that the solar activity and the solar cycle phenomena may be manifestations of global torsional MHD oscillations, we compute the Alfven wave travel times along the field lines in the five models of magnetic field described in the following text. For all these models, we compute standard deviation and it's ratio to mean Alfvenic wave travel times. The last two models yield the smallest relative bandwidth for the frequencies of the MHD oscillations. However, the last model is the only admissible one which can sustain global Alfvenic oscillations with well defined frequency for the fundamental mode

A preliminary series design of compressors for a two-stage centrifugal chiller is suggested. Six groups of hydrodynamically similar compressors, ranging from 233RT to 1,200RT, are introduced. Flow rates, impeller diameters, and wheel speeds for each group are determined from hydrodynamic similarity to share impellers of adjacent groups. It is expected that these compressors can have the same performance and efficiency from the smallest model to the largest one.

A new criterion, the solid angle, is introduced to measure the Quality of tetrahedral mesh. This criterion is compared with the existing Delaunay triangulation criterion. The properties of solid angles have been studied and are proposed for utilization in 3-D meshing algorithms. Furthermore, difficulties of developing a 3-D algorithm that provides a lower bound on the smallest angle have been discussed.

A successful design approach for noise barriers should be multidisciplinary because noise reduction goals influence both acoustical and non-acoustical considerations, such as maintenance, safety, physical construction, cost, and visual impact. These various barrier design options are closely related with barrier dimensions. In this study, we have proposed an optimal design method of straight noise barriers using genetic algorithm, providing a barrier having the smallest dimension and achieving the specified noise reduction at a receiver region exposed to the industry and traffic noise, to help a successful barrier design.

The order of appearance of m in the Fibonacci sequence, denoted by z(m), is the smallest positive integer k such that m divides $F_k$. Marques obtained the formula of $z(L^k_n)$ in some cases.
