Porous hydroxyapatite(HA) and HA-coated porous $Al_2O_3$ possessing pore characteristics required for bone substitutes were prepared by a slurry foaming method combined with gelcasting. The HA coating was deposited by heating porous $Al_2O_3$ substrates in an aqueous solution containing $Ca^{2+}$ and ${PO_4}^{3-}$ ions at $65{\sim}95^{\circ}C$ under ambient pressure. The pore characteristic, microstructure, and compressive strength were investigated and compared for the two kinds of samples. The porosity of the samples was about 81% and 80% for HA and $Al_2O_3$, respectively with a highly interconnected network of spherical pores with size ranging from 50 to $250{\mu}m$. The porous $Al_2O_3$ sample showed much higher compressive strength(25 MPa) than the porous HA sample(10 MPa). Fairly dense and uniform HA coating(about $2{\mu}m$ thick) was deposited on the porous $Al_2O_3$ sample. Since the compressive strength of cancellous bone is $2{\sim}12$ MPa, both the porous HA and HA-coated porous $Al_2O_3$ samples could be successfully utilized as scaffolds for bone repair. Especially the latter is expected suitable for load bearing bone substitutes due to its excellent strength.
We have developed the ultrasonic polishing system to get super finishing that consist of machine part that can rotate and travel the main shaft with power 1.5kW, ultrasonic generator with frequency 20kHz. By using this system we were investigated the characteristics of ultrasonic polishing and deduced the major facters which affect the surface roughness by the experimental plans for three different materials such as ceramic, glass, and wafer, and so could be obtained following results. We could be obtained the excellent surface for hard-to-difficult cutting materials. The rotating speed could be found to be major factor influencing the surface roughness. In the case of ceramic and wafer, we were able to obtain good surface roughness when the feed rate and ultrasonic output is higher. In the case of glass, the surface roughness becames worse when ultrasonic output is higher because of increasing of load affacting on the particles in slurry.
Ag- and Pd-loaded $SnO_2$ nanowire network sensors were prepared by the growth of $SnO_2$ nanowires via thermal evaporation, the coating of slurry containing $SnO_2$ nanowires, and dropping of a droplet containing Ag or Pd nanoparticles, and subsequent heat treatment. All the pristine, Pd-loaded and Ag-loaded $SnO_2$ nanowire networks showed the selective detection of $C_2H_5OH$ with low cross-responses to CO, $H_2$, $C_3H_8$, and $NH_3$. However, the relative gas responses and gas selectivity depended closely on the catalyst loading. The loading of Pd enhanced the responses($R_a/R_g$: $R_a$: resistance in air, $R_g$: resistance in gas) to CO and $H_2$ significantly, while it slightly deteriorated the response to $C_2H_5OH$. In contrast, a 3.1-fold enhancement was observed in the response to 100 ppm $C_2H_5OH$ by loading of Ag onto $SnO_2$ nanowire networks. The role of Ag catalysts in the highly sensitive and selective detection of $C_2H_5OH$ is discussed.
This study was aimed at developing a low cost cold storage system for agricultural products. Three kinds of slurries: $K_1$, $K_2$, and $K_3$ slurries were developed using phase change materials (PCMs) such as tetradecane, octadecane, and sodium polyacrylate to maintain the desired temperature ranges. The slurries were manufactured by in-situ polymerization. Tetradecane and octadecane were capsulated in a core with melamine at the surface. The thermodynamic characteristics of the slurries were measured and analyzed. The latent heats of the $K_1$, $K_2$, and $K_3$ slurries at the melting points were 206.41, 186.88, and 147.91 kJ/kg, respectively. A transportable cold storage container was built to investigate the performance of the slurries as thermal storage media. The temperatures at the insides of the container could be maintained in the ranges of 0-5, 5-10, and $10-15^{\circ}C$ for more than 23, 27, and 60 hr with the $K_1$, $K_2$, and $K_3$ slurries, respectively.
Recently this country has carried out the coast reclamation centering on the west and south coast for effective practical use of a country, considering purchase of materials and environmental problem, most reclaiming work is processing to spoil reclamation which is easy to secure the amount of materials. In case of weak ground that is formed by spoil reclamation like this, initial moisture content is high, as slurry state that is rarely revealed ground strength, compressibility and water permeability have been shown nonlinear change by compaction progress. Analysis of weak ground is unreasonable because the existing Terzaghi compaction theory analyzes compaction fixed number to regular invariable number for prediction of compaction state. This study computes the relation with void ratio-effective pressure and void ratio-finite transformation which is the most basic matter to predict finite strain compaction state of the south coast spoil, and analyze the basic feature to predict compaction feature of the south coast spoil reclaimed ground.

The advantages of nano-scale materials (size 1-99 nm in at least in one dimension) could be realized with their potential applications in diversified avenues. Herein, we report for the first time on the successful synthesis of homogeneous epoxy coatings containing phytogenic silver nanoparticles (Ag) on PVC and glass substrates by room-temperature curing of fully mixed epoxy slurry diluted by acetone. Alstonia scholaris bark extract was used to reduce and stabilize the silver ions. The surface morphology and mechanical properties of these coatings were characterized using the techniques like, UV-Vis (UV-Visible) spectrophotometry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FT-IR), Epifluorescence microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The effect of incorporating Ag nanoparticles on the biofilm (scale) resistant epoxy-coated PVC was investigated by total viable counts ($CFU/cm^2$) from epoxy coating from (Initial) $1^{st}$ day to $25^{th}$ days. The phytogenic Ag nanoparticles were found to be significantly improving the microstructure of the coating matrix and thus enhanced the anti-biofilm performance of the epoxy coating. In addition, the antimicrobial mechanism of Ag nanoparticles played an important role in improving the anti-biofilm performance of these epoxy coatings.
To improve the conventional cathode-supported tubular solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) from the viewpoint of low cell power density, expensive fabrication process and high operation temperature, the anode-supported tubular solid oxide fuel cell was investigated. The anode tube of Ni-8mol% $Y_2$O$_3$-stabilized $ZrO_2$ (8YSZ) was manufactured by extrusion process, and, the electrolyte of 8YSZ and the multi-layered cathode of $LaSrMnO_3$(LSM)ILSM-YSZ composite/$LaSrCoFeO_3$ were coated on the surface of the anode tube by slurry dip coating process, subsequently. Their cell performances were examined under gases of humidified hydrogen with 3% water and air. In the thermal cycle condition of heating and cooling rates with $3.33^{\circ}C$/min, the anode-supported tubular cell showed an excellent resistance as compared with the electrolyte-supported planar cell. The optimum hydrogen flow rate was evaluated and the air preheating increased the cell performance due to the increased gas temperature inside the cell. In long-term stability test, the single cell indicated a stable performance of 300 mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 0.85 V for 255 hr.
The chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process has been widely used to obtain global planarization of multilevel interconnection process for ultra large scale. integrated circuit applications. Especially, the application of copper CMP has become an integral part of several semiconductor device and materials manufacturers. However, the low-k materials at 65nm and below device structures because of fragile property, requires low down-pressure mechanical polishing for maintaining the structural integrity of under layer during their fabrication. In this paper, we studied electrochemical mechanical polishing (ECMP) as a new planarization technology that uses electrolyte chemistry instead of abrasive slurry for copper CMP process. The current-voltage (I-V) curves were employed we investigated that how this chemical affect the process of voltage induced material removal in ECMP of Copper. In this study, acoustic and viscosity data are collected in real time during the ball milling process and analyzed for correlation. After fast Fourier transformation (FFT) of the acoustic data, changes in the signals are observed as a function of the milling time. To analyze this quantitatively, the frequency band is divided into 1 kHz ranges to obtain an integral value. The integrated values in the 2-3 kHz range of the frequency band decrease linearly, confirming that they have a high correlation with changes in viscosity. The experiment is repeated four times to ensure the reproducibility of the data. The results of this study show that it is possible to estimate changes in slurry properties, such as viscosity and particle size, during the ball milling process using an acoustic signal.
This study has resulted in the following findings. First, Using more than 30% of GBFS to replace FA enabled bleeding control through improved fluidity. Moreover, it has been confirmed that effective strength and proper quality can be achieved when it was applied as a backfilling material with higher early strength than the base material. Second, When using more than 30% of FNS to replace sand, it was found that adding 0.3~0.35 of the AE agent is effective for bleeding control through improved fluidity. Third, When using more than 30% of both GBFS and FNS in combination, it was found that adding 0.3~0.35 of the AE agent is effective for bleeding control through improved fluidity. Also, it was confirmed that proper mixing of 15~60% of GF secured the effective strength and desired quality as a refiller and joint filler material.
