  • This study examines the properties of high-fluidity concrete after adding copper slag as a mineral admixture. For this purpose, the replacement ratio of cement to copper slag was varied to 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50%. A slump flow test, reach time slump flow of 500 mm, and a U-Box and O-lot test were conducted on the fresh concrete. The compressive strength of the hardened concrete was determined at 3, 7, 14 and 28 days. According to the test results, the workability, compaction, and compressive strength of the high-fluidity concrete increased when replacing 30% of the cement with copper slag. These parameters decreased for all material ages with more than 30% copper slag, which was the optimal mixture ratio.

  • Self-compacting concretes (SCC) are highly fluid concrete which can flow without any vibration. Their composition requires a large quantity of fines to limit the risk of bleeding and segregation. The use of crushed sand rich in limestone fines could be an adequate solution for both economic and environmental reasons. This paper investigates the influence of quarry limestone fines from manufactured crushed sand on rheological, mechanical and durability properties of SCC. For this purpose, five mixtures of SCC with different limestone fines content as substitution of crushed sand (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) were prepared at constant water-to-cement ratio of 0.40 and $490kg/m^3$ of cement content. Fresh SCC mixtures were tested by slump flow test, V-funnel flow time test, L-box height ratio, segregation resistance and rheological test using a rheometer. Compressive and flexural strengths of SCC mixtures were evaluated at 28 days. Regarding durability properties, total porosity, capillary water absorption and chloride-ion migration were studied at 180 days. For the two test modes in fresh state, the results indicated compatibility between slump flow/yield stress (${\tau}_0$) and V-funnel flow time/plastic viscosity (${\mu}$). Increasing the substitution level of limestone fines in SCC mixtures, contributes to the decrease of the slump flow and the yield stress. All SCC mixtures investigated achieved adequate filling, adequate passing ability and exhibit no segregation. Moreover, the inclusion of limestone fines as crushed sand substitution reduces the capillary water absorption, chloride-ion migration and consequently enhances the durability performance.

  • The lining concrete of water tunnel is a structure that is constructed to prevent from corroding of the rock around tunnel and reduce the deterioration of geology by flowing water, and to improve the durability of tunnel, which must not only economy, stability but also satisfy the engeneering properties of concrete. This is an experimental study to analyze th usability of fly in the tunnel lining concrete. For this purpose, after select the mix proportion of plain concrete and concrete using fly ash(the replacement of 15 and 30% by weight of cement) to satisfy slump, air content and compressive strength through the mix design, the test of slump, setting time, compressive strength, tensile strength, drying shrinkage and adiabatic temperature rise was performed. According to test results, it was found that FA 15 concrete was more effective than the others to reduce drying shrinkage as well satisfy other engineering properties.

  • This study was performed to find the basic data, as needed on the reinforced clayey soil construction work, by estimating job difficulty and optimum moisture content of the reinforced clayey soil, according to its slump test and workability test. As a result, it has been found that the more increasing reinforced clayey soil's moisture content, the higher its slump value. Its 25% moisture content: the reinforced clayey soil except the fiber reinforced soil was able to work with hand; the fiber reinforced soil with the 0.5% or 1.0% of fiber ratio was poor cohesion because of surplus quantity of fiber. Its moisture content between 30% and 35%: shoveling is somewhat difficult but troweling is possible. This study will be needed to modify and add by another.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate how the varieties of consistency of fresh concrete influence on the plastic shrinkage in dry condition. The test was conducted under the controlled chamber in which the temperature was kept at 25 ${\pm}$2$^{\circ}C$, the humidity 35 ${\pm}$3%, and the wind velocity 4.0 ${\pm}$0.5m/sec. The results obtained from the test are as follow. 1) The rate of evaporation was highest at 2-3 hour after casting, and decreased gradually. 2) The plastic shrinkage was increased as to the slump values. The shrinkage rate was very highest at 2-4 hour and hardly showed any changes after 6 hour. 3) The recommendation for good cloncrete is that slump value should be as low as possible in construction.

  • The amount of coal ash has been increasing and development of effective use is urgently needed. Various by-products and waste are expected to be used as resources from the point of reduction in environmental load. This is an experimental study to compare the properties of high volume coal ash concrete using the reclaimed coal ash. For this purpose, the mix proportion of concrete according to the content ratio of below 5mm reclaimed coal ash (0.65, 0.70, 0.75 and 0.80). And then air content, slump, compressive strength test were performed. According to test results, it was found that the compressive strength of reclaimed coal ash concrete was similar to the content ratio of below 5mm reclaimed coal ash. And the slump of reclaimed coal ash concrete decreased as the content ratio of below 5mm.

  • Metakaolin is a cementitious material for producing high-strength concrete. This material is now used as substitute for silica-fume. In this paper, we studied the properties of fresh concrete such as slump-flow, air content, and the feature of strength of hardened concrete according to the substitute ratio of metakaolin, silica-fume. In the fresh concrete test, the time depend loss of slump-flow & air content is good to 10-15% substitute ratio of metakaolin. And, in the strength test, 10-15% substitute ratio of metakaolin is good for producing high-strength concrete also. But, allowing for economical efficiency, we concluded that 10% is a adequate substitute ratio for producing high performance concrete.

  • High reactivity metakaolin (HRM) is a manufactured pozzolan produced by thermal processing of purified kaolinitic clay. Field performance and laboratory research of concrete containing HRM have demonstrated its value for bridge decks, bridge deck overlays, high-strength concrete and masonry products. This paper discusses laboratory evaluations to assess the physical properties of antiwashout underwater concrete (AWC) containing HRM, such as pH value, suspended solids, slump flow, and compressive strength. There were not much variations of pH value with the changing HRM contents, but suspended solid test showed that the amount of suspended solids of AWC with 10 and 20% of HRM were reduced in comparison with plain. Due to the fast hydration and reaction property of HRM, slump flow was decreased with increasing HRM contents. According to the results of compressive strength test, AWC with 10 and 20% of HRM showed higher strength characteristic than plain at all curing ages.

  • Self compacting concrete has the strong point in capability of concrete to be uniformly filled and compacted in every corners of formwork by its self-weight without vibration during placing. However, powder type self compacting concrete has the weak point in the heat of hydration, the drying shrinkage and the elastic property of concrete etc. Recently viscosity agent has been developed in order to overcome these weaknesses. In this study, self compacting concrete is made with viscosity agent based on polysaccharide derivative in order to develope the normal strength self compacting concrete. Slump flow, loss of slump flow and setting time are measured for comparison with normal concrete. Compressive strength, freezing and thawing test and carbonation test are conducted on normal and self compacting concrete using viscosity agent. In the experiment, we acquired good results in fresh and hardened self compacting concrete using viscosity agent based on polysaccharide derivative.
