  • The effect of loading waveform on elevated temperature low-cycle fatigue crack growth behavior in a SUS 304 stainless steel have been investigated under symmetrical trangular (fast-fast), trapezoidal and asymmetrical(fast-slow, slow-fast) waveforms at 650.deg. C. It was found that the crack growth rate in fast-slow loading waveform appeared to be higher a little and the crack growth rate in slow-fast loading waveform much higer than that in fast-fast loading waveform, and difference in crack growth rate between fast-show and slow-fast waveforms nearly didn't appear in the region of da/dN>10/sup -2/ The crack growth rate in the trapezoidal loading waveform with t/sub h/=500sec appeared to be faster than that in slow(500sec)-fast(1sec). In addition, parameter modified J-integral could be considered as useful parameter for fatigue crack growth rate in all waveforms. The result obtained are as follow. da/dN=4.91*10/sup -3/ (.DELTA. J/sub c/)/sup 0.565/.

  • The Notched Ring Test(NRT) has proven to be very useful in determining the slow crack growth behavior of polyethylene pressure pipes. In particular, the test is simple and an order of magnitude shorter in experimental times as compared to the currently used Notched Pipe Test(NPT), which makes this method attractive for use as the accelerated slow crack growth test. In addition, since the NRT specimen is taken directly from the pipe, having maintained the cross-section, processing induced artifacts that would affect the slow crack growth behavior are not altered. This makes the direct comparison to the slow crack growth specimen in pipe from more meaningful. In this study, for comparison with other available slow crack growth methods, including the NPT, the stress intensity factor equation for NRT specimen was developed and demonstrated of its accuracy within 3% of that obtained from the finite element analysis. The equation was derived using a flexure formula of curved beam bending along with numerically determined geometric factors. The accuracy of the equation was successfully tested on 63, 110, 140, 160, 250, and 400 mm nominal pipe diameters, with crack depth ranging from 15 % to 45 % of the pipe wall thickness, and for standard dimensional ratio(SDR) of 9, 11, and 13.6. Using this equation the slow crack results from 110SDR11 NRT specimen were compared to that from the NPT specimen, which demonstrated that the NRT specimen was equivalent to the NPT specimen in creating the slow crack, however in much shorter experimental times.

  • In this article, we present a new slow-start variant, which improves the throughput of transmission control protocol (TCP) Vegas. We call this new mechanism Gallop-Vegas because it quickly ramps up to the available bandwidth and reduces the burstiness during the slow-start phase. TCP is known to send bursts of packets during its slow-start phase due to the fast window increase and the ACK-clock based transmission. This phenomenon causes TCP Vegas to change from slow-start phase to congestion-avoidance phase too early in the large bandwidth-delay product (BDP) links. Therefore, in Gallop-Vegas, we increase the congestion window size with a rate between exponential growth and linear growth during slow-start phase. Our analysis, simulation results, and measurements on the Internet show that Gallop-Vegas significantly improves the performance of a connection, especially during the slow-start phase. Furthermore, it is implementation feasible because only sending part needs to be modified.

  • The influence of slow cooling and annealing time in $O_2$in MPEG process on $J_c$ was investigated. From the measurement of $J_c$,SEM and XRD, it was observed that the critical current density was related with the slow cooling time and annealing time in $O_2$. The value of $J_c$ was the highest at slow cooling time of 40 hour. And also, the value of $J_c$ along the annealing time in $O_2$in the case of the slow cooling time of 40 hours was inclined to increase with annealing time. Consequently, it can be suggested that proper slow cooling time and annealing time after slow cooling in MPMG process be important to improve the critical characteristics.

  • The influence of slow cooling and annealing time in $O_2$ during melting and growth step in MPMG process on J$_{c}$ was investigated. Through the measurement of J$_{c}$ SEM and XRD, it can be observed that the critical characteristics were related with the slow cooling time and annealing time in 02 for melting and growth step of MPMG process. The distribution of critical current density with slow cooling time was the porabolic form and the value of J. was the highest at the 40 hour slow cooling time. And also, the value of J$_{c}$, along the annealing time in $O_2$ in the case of the slow cooling time 40 hour was inclined to increase with annealing time. Consequently, it can be suggested that proper slow cooling titre and annealing time along slow cooling in MPMG process be important to improve the critical characteristics.stics.

  • Mode I stress intensity factor $(K_I)$ of Notched Ring Test(NRT) specimen for measuring slow crack growth resistance was found using finite-element method. The theoretical $K_I$ value of NRT was not available in any references and could not be solved analytically. At first, in order to verify the accuracy of the finite-element approach, published $K_I$ values of several cracks were calculated and compared with finite-element results. The results were in good agreement within inherent errors of theoretical $K_I$. Finally the mode I stress intensity factor of NRT was found using 2- and 3-dimensional finite-element methods and expressed as a function of the applied load. This enabled direct comparison of resistance to slow crack growth between NRT and Notched Pipe Test(NPT), which employ different loading regime.

  • A physical variable is customarily thought of as a function. Another way of describing a physical variable is to specify it as a functional, whose special type is called a distribution. It turns out that the distribution concept provide a better mechanism for analyzing certain physical phenomena than does the function concept. By using wavelets with high regularity we give a resolution of functions with slow growth.

  • Through a literature review, this study examined the concept of slow learners and the lifelong learning characteristics of slow learners, and sought ways to achieve successful lifelong learning by utilizing grit and growth mindset among non-cognitive characteristics. Slow learners were experiencing difficulties in cognitive, academic, linguistic, social and emotional, and behavioral characteristics. For successful lifelong learning of slow learners, it was necessary to set long-term goals rather than short-term goals and to maintain effort and consistency of interest to achieve the goals. In addition, it was confirmed that in order to achieve long-term goals, it is necessary to believe that change can be achieved through effort and learning. In other words, the need for learning using grit and growth mindset was confirmed. Based on these previous research results, it was presented as a lifelong learning strategy for slow learners that applied grit and growth mindset, which are non-cognitive characteristics, rather than cognitive characteristics such as intelligence.

  • This study investigates crack propagation behavior of Sn-3.0Ag-0.5Cu solder under pull-push loading conditions. Fatigue Crack Growth (FCG) tests were conducted on Center Cracked Plate (CCP) specimens in fast-fast (pp) strain waveform. The fast-slow (pc), slow-fast (cp) and slow-slow (cc) strain waveforms were also used to study the effect of strain rates. The crack propagation rates for the four strain waveforms were correlated with J-integral range and a scatter band of factor 4 was found. The crack growth rates for the pc waveform was highest, followed by cp, cc and then pp waveforms.
