Recently, railroad construction has been increased all over the world and as the train is getting high-speeded, there has been a need for guaranteed safety, so that a requirement for heath monitoring techniques for destruction that generated by gradually accumulated damages is now increasing. Especially the rail is crucial part that contact with wheel directly and delivers the train's load to a sleeper. It needs a technique that can guarantee a safety by sensing the possible cracks. In this paper, when train's load applied to the rail, strain distribution that introduced to entire length of rail is monitored using optical fibre. Optical fibre is used as a medium for measuring the strain and BOCDA (Brillouin Optical Correlation Domain Analysis) system is organized for measuring the distributed variation that implied to optical fibre. Optical fibre is attached at lower flange where tension is maximized when the load of train applied to the rail and strain gauge is implied together to compare the accuracy of measurement.
In this study, Several types of geotextile was used on the selected track-bed. The use of geotextile prove a economical and efficientmean to prevent the problem of mud-pumping and settlement. Field testing sections from Mock-haeng to Dong-ryang in the Chungbuk lines in Korea were selected to investigate in current condition the of track and roadbed. This testing site was divided into 5 sections. In the four sections, different types of geotextiles were installed. In order to estimate for performance of the reinforced section with geotextiles on the soft ground, four different geotextiles were installed and compared with no reinforced section. Also, after the installation, mud-pumping, settlement of elastic or plastic sleeper, failure of track, wheel-loads, and earth pressures were investigated. The following is the summaries from the field tests. As a conclusion, According to naked eyes investigation, mud pumping didn't happen at reinforced sections, but no reinforced section was happen to a top of track for 6 months. And Elastic displacements at the reinforced and no reinforced section were about $30.7\%\;and\;73.8\%,$ respectively. Also, It was found that plastic displacement in reinforced section was retrained about $50\%$ more than that in no reinforced section.

As one of reinforcing methods for soft roadbed, the problems that mud-pumping and settlement occurred by soft roadbed, were investigated, evaluated and analyzed through installing relatively economical and efficient geosynthetics on the selected track-bed for testing. Mock-heang to Dong-ryang on the filed resting sections in the Chung-buk lines were selected as investigating the state of track and prepared field after selecting three of 1,700 spots which often make mud-pumping and requiting maintenance for that. Long curved line radiuses(R) of Mock-heang to Dong-ryang are 500m that were installed with 4 types of geosynthetics layers and one ballast layer. Installed testing cross-section is 200m totally with 40 m between places. Strength or prepared roadbed was measured to investigate the state of roadbed and track with constructing(installing) field testing sections and physical properties of roadbed soils were evaluated and analyzed. Also, mud-pumping, settlement of elastic or plastic sleeper, failure or track, wheel-loads, transverse and earth pressures were measured after installing field testing sections.

Track substructure (ballast, subgrade) should have sufficient strength and uniform stiffness to fully support track superstructure (rail, fastener, sleeper). Vertical support stiffness of track is strongly influenced by the condition of ballast and subgrade layers. Therefore, the evaluation of the condition of track substructure is very important to evaluate the vertical support stiffness of track. This paper proposes the trackbed evaluation system, which is composed of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), Portable Ballast Sample. (PBS), and Light Falling Weight Deflectomete. (LFWD), to diagnose track substructure. The laboratory and field tests are performed to evaluate the applicability of the proposed trackbed evaluation system.

Background: Despite frequent shoulder injuries of rotator cuff muscle of golfers by the result of overuse and poor swing mechanics, there is little research on shoulder specific rehabilitation exercises for injured rotator cuff muscle and golf swing Objective: To examined the effect of rehabilitation exercise for golfers on the X factor and ground reaction force (GRF) according to phase of the golf swing. Design: Crossover study Methods: The participants were 13 amateur golfers selected for a 4 week rehabilitation exercise for golfers. A rehabilitation exercise for golfers consisting of 5 steps and 4 items (sleeper stretch, full side plank, push up to plank, high plank knee unders) were applied to all participants. A three dimensional motion analyzer and force platform (SMART-E, BTS, Italy) were used to measure the X factor (angle between shoulder and pelvis at top of back swing) and GRF according to phase of the golf swing. All dependent variables were measured before and after exercise. The collected data was analyzed using the paired t test and SPSS 21.0. Results: The GRF had a statistically significant increase in the impact phase and ratio impact/weight after rehabilitation exercise for golfers (p<.05). The X-factor, GRF in top of back swing and finish were no significant differences between before and after exercise (p>.05). Conclusions: These results suggested that rehabilitation exercise for golfers was effective for increasing GRF in the impact phase and ratio impact/weight for amateur golfer.

The use of pozzolanic materials in concrete mixtures can enhance the mechanical properties and durability of concrete. By reactions with pozzolanic materials and calcium hydroxide in cement matrix, calcium-silicate-hydrate (C-S-H) increases and calcium hydroxide decreases in cement matrix of concrete. Consequently, the volume of solid materials increases. The pozzolanic particles also fill spaces between clinker grains, thereby resulting in a denser cement matrix and interfacial transition zone between cement matrix and aggregates; this lowers the permeability and increases the compressive strength of concrete. Moreover, the total contents of alkali in concrete are reduced by replacing cements with pozzolanic materials; this prevents cracks due to alkali-aggregate reaction (AAR). In this study, nanosilica is incorporated in cement pastes. The differences of microstructural compositions between the hydrated cements with and without nanosilica are examined using nanoindentation, XRDA and $^{29}Si$ MAS NMR. The results can be used for a basic research to enhance durability of concrete slab tracks and concrete railway sleepers.
Rail support modulus is an important parameter for analysis and design of ballasted railway tracks. One of the challenges in track stiffness assessment is its dynamic nature under the moving trains which differs it from the case of standing trains. So the present study is allocated to establish a relation between the dynamic and static stiffness of ballasted tracks via field measurements. In this regard, two different sites of ballasted tracks with wooden and concrete sleepers were selected and the static and dynamic stiffness were measured based on Talbot - Wasiutynski method. In this matter, the selected tracks were loaded by two heavy and light car bodies for standing and moving conditions and consequently the deflection basins were evaluated in both sites. Knowing the deflection basins respect to light and heavy loading conditions, both of static and dynamic stiffness values were extracted. Finally two definite relations were obtained for ballasted tracks with wooded and concrete sleepers.
Evidence highlighting the importance of gut microbiota in biodiversity conservation is growing; however, gut bacteria in South Korean wildlife have not been well identified. Using a culture-dependent isolation method, we identified the gut bacteria from Korean aquatic wildlife: the gazami crab (Portunus trituberculatus), Korean striped bitterling (Acheilognathus yamatsutae), oily bitterling (Acheilognathus koreensis), leopard mandarin fish (Siniperca scherzeri), Korean dark chub (Zacco koreanus), diving beetle (Cybister lewisianus), spotted steed (Abbottina springeri), and Korean spotted sleeper (Odontobutis obscura interrupta). We identified 18 strains previously unrecorded in South Korea by comparing 16S rRNA gene sequences of isolates against the EzBioCloud and National Institute of Biological Resources(NIBR) databases. The isolated strains belong to the phyla Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, and Proteobacteria. We also assessed for phylogenetic relatedness, Gram-stain reaction, colony and cell morphology, and biochemical characteristics. Basic information and 16S rRNA gene sequences of the isolates were registered in NIBR, and NIBR accession numbers are provided.

Railway is compsed in various components, such as subgrade, track bed, sleeper, rail, and overhead line, on a linear space. Therefore, comprehensive work for various design standards and guidelines is required when designing a railway facility. For this reason, much time and effort are required to review the relevant design standards and guidelines. While, automatic legal check system for BIM models has been developed in the architectural engineering, it has not been developed in the railway engineering. This study reviews the korean design standard and the korean code for railway engineering, and suggests some rule items of logical information. Comparing the suggested rule items to the railway BIM library, items of logical information and additional attribute information are obtained. The analysis results of railway design standards and BIM library presented in this study would be utilized for defining rule-set items that is essential for development of the automatic legal check system for railway BIM models.

Industry Foundation Classes(IFC) is the core product schema for ensuring the interoperability of information in Building Information Modeling(BIM) environment. However, since current IFC is mainly focused on building structure. there are limitations in the generation of functional information of components when applied to civil infrastructures. Previous studies have proposed IFC-based new entities for the civil infrastructures, it takes long time to support them in BIM authoring software packages. In this study, we proposed practical rules to apply IFC-based information modeling using BIM authoring software and additional new entities for the civil infrastructure through attributes and information mapping. The availabilities of proposed method were examined using the rail and sleeper information models based on an extended IFC data schema for the railway infrastructures.
