A Study on the Determination of Military Expenditures in Foreign Countries (국방예산책정의 외국사례연구)

  • Under the assumption that the size of military expenditures is largely determined by economic potential and military requirements as well, this paper conducts an econometric analysis for the purpose of predicting Korea's military expenditures using a technique of pooling time-series data (1967-1976) and cross-section data(95 countries) on the percentage of military expenditures to GNP (Cross National Product) and economic growth rate.

  • A 20 GHz 2-stage MMIC (Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits) LNA(Low Noise Amplifiers) has been designed. The pHEMT with gate length of 1.15 um has been used to provide ultra low noise and high gain amplification. Series and Shunt feedback circuits were interted to ensured high stability over frequency range of DC to 60 GHz. The size of designed MMIC LNA is 2285um x 2000um(4.57mm2). The simulated noise figure of MMIC LNA is less than 1.7 dB over frequency range of 20 GHz to 21 GHz.

Double Unit Root Tests Based on Recursive Mean Adjustment and Symmetric Estimation

  • Symmetric estimation and recursive mean adjustment are considered to construct tests for the doble unit root hypothesis for both parametric and semiparametric time series models. It is shown that simultaneous application of symmetric estimation and recursive mean adjustment yields the most powerful test. Moreover, size property of the semiparametric test based on the simultaneous application is bet among all semiparametric tests.

  • The adsorption of nitrogen (77K) and carbon dioxide(273K) was performed on a series of activated carbon fiber. Theadsorption iotherm of nitrogen was typical type 1 and that of carbon dioxide was convex. As the specific surface area increases, there are linear increases in BET constant C mean pore diameter, the width of pore size distribution, wide micropore volume, total micropore volume, total pore volume and external surface area, however, narrow micropore volume was nealy constant . The total micorpore volume fraction in total pore volume is above 97%.

  • Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) was predicted using Cascade Correlation Network (CCN) model. CCN was suggested, by Fahlman and Lebiere [1990], to overcome the limitations of backpropagation algorithm such as step size problem and moving target problem. To test the applicability of CCN as a function approximator to the stock price movements, CCN was used as a tool for univariate time series analysis. The fitting and forecasting performance fo CCN on the KOSPI was compared with those of Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP).

  • A statistical analysis for detecting deviations from normal magnetic field intensities, caused by the introduction of magnetite materials into man-made fissures and cracks at subsurface levels is presented. For detecting such deviations it turns out the comparison of two different field measurements measured at two different sites far from each other is more efficient than the study of the only measurement by the univariate and bivariate time series analysis.

  • We consider an M/M/2 queue with two servers placed in series. System performance measures that we present in closed expressions are the first and the second moments for the system size, the queue walting time and the sojourn time. We also present an algorithm for computing the queue waiting time distribution function based on the randomization method. As an application, we analyze the double tollbooth system and compare its performance with the conventional single tollbooth system's.

  • Abstract A regionalized daily streamflow model using a modified retention parameter in the SCS method was developed to predict the daily streamflow of a natural series for Korean watersheds. Model verification showed that it is possible to use the model for extending short period records in a gaged watershed or for predicting daily streamflow in any ungaged watershed, with reasonable accuracy by simply inputing the name of the watershed boundary, the watershed size, the latitude and longitude of the watershed, and the daily areal rainfall.

  • 서브시퀀스 매칭은 주어진 질의 시퀀스와 변화의 추세가 유사한 서브시퀀스들을 시계열 데이터베이스로부터 검색하는 연산이다. 본 논문에서는 기존에 제안된 서브시퀀스 매칭 기법인 FRM과 Dual-Match를 대상으로 다양한 실험을 통하여 윈도우 크기 효과를 정량적으로 분석한다. 또한, 이러한 분석 결과를 기반으로 서브시퀀스 매칭 처리의 성능 개선을 위한 향후의 연구 방향을 제시한다.

  • Non-Stationary transition probabilities models which is incorporated into a Markov framework with exogenous variables to account for some of variability are discussed, and extended for alternative procedure. Also as an application of the methodology, the size change of aggregate time-series data on the planted system of agricultural crops is estimated, and evaluated for the precision of time-varying evolution statistically.
