  • The Sound reduction indices(SRIs) of interior door with 13 different size apertures are measured in acoustic chamber. Also, as a theoretical approach, the SRIs are estimated using Gomperts' theory. In this study, the aperture of interior door is focused on the lower part of door leaf which is well known as a main cause to deteriorate the sound insulation performance of door. The results show that the SRI of door strongly depends on the aperture width and the dip in the measured sound reduction index curve by the resonance effect within aperture is observed at high-frequency. On the whole, the values calculated by theory are in good agreement with the measured values including the position of resonance dip. The average difference between the measured and the calculated values is 0.9 dB for 13 doors with different size aperture in terms of the weighted SRI.

  • Leakage vortices formed new blade tip causes an increase of total pressure loss near the casing endwall region and as a result, the efficiency of rotor decreases. The reduction of rotor efficiency is related to the size of the tip clearance. In this study, the three-dimensional flowfields in an axial flow rotor were calculated by varying the tip clearance under various flow rates, and the numerical results were compared with experimental ones. The effects of tip clearance and attack angle on the leakage vortex and overall performance, and the loss distributions were investigated through numerical calculations. In this study, tip leakage flow rate and total pressure loss by tip clearance were evaluated using numerical results and approximate equations were presented to evaluate the reduction of rotor efficiency by tip leakage flow.

  • The Coastal sediment is highly contaminated due to ship transportation, industries discharges and urban sources. Various contaminants release into seawater and settle in marine sediment and it significantly affect marine eco system. In the present study evaluated the optimization of slow release biostimulant ball (BSB) in coastal sediment in busan. The effective variables like BSB size, distance and month variables on VS reduction was determined by using Response surface methodology(RSM). The analysis of variance (ANOVA) and coefficient determination (R2) of VS was 0.9369 and maximum reduction of VS was obtained in 3cm ball size and 5.5cm distance and 4 month interval time. This result revealed that the BSB in effective VS reduction in coastal sediment.

  • Controlled reduction of silver alkylcarbamate complexes with hydrogen gas was investigated as a facile synthetic method for high concentrations of silver nanocolloids in organic solvent. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was used to stabilize the silver colloids obtained from the chemical reduction. To determine optimum conditions for preparation of the stable and controlled silver colloids with the narrowest particle size and distribution, a large number of experiments were carried out involving variations in the concentrations of the silver 2-ethylhexylcarbamate (Ag-EHCB) complex, PVP, and 2-propanol. The initial colloid had a mean particle diameter between 5$\sim$50 nm, as measured by transmission electron microscopy, and exhibited a sharp absorption band in the UV region with a maximum size near 420 nm. After treatment with a reducing agent, the colloids were characterized by ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy.

  • Direct reduction and carburization process was thought one of the best methods to make nano-sized WC powder. The oxide powders were mixed with graphite powder by ball milling in the compositions of WC-5,-10wt%Co. The mixture was heated at the temperatures of $600{\sim}800^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours in Ar. The reaction time of the reduction and carburization was decreased as heating temperatures and cobalt content increased. The mean size of WC/Co composite powders was about 260 nm after the reactions. And the mean size of WC grains in WC/Co composite powders was about 38 nm after the reaction at $800^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours.

  • A method to reduce the specific absorption rate(SAR) of the antenna for WiMAX mobile communication is proposed in this paper. The SAR reduction is achieved by miniaturizing the physical size of the antenna for the given resonance frequency by devising a metamaterial-composite right- and left-handed(CRLH) configuration-based radiator much smaller than the quarter-guided wavelength adopted a lot in the conventional planar inverted F antenna(PIFA) or modified monopole antenna. The proposed antenna is placed near the head-phantom and its SAR is evaluated by the full-wave simulations(SEMCAD X), where the metamaterial-inspired antenna is shown to have the lower value than a modified monopole as the reference in terms of the SAR.

  • Predicting residual strength of corroded plates is of crucial importance for service life estimation of aged structures. A series of nonlinear finite element method is employed for ultimate strength analysis of stiffened plates with pitting corrosion. Influential parameters, including plate thickness, type and size of stiffeners, pit depth and degree of pitting are varied and more than 208 finite element models are analyzed. It is found that ultimate strength is reduced by increasing pit depth to thickness ratio. Thin and intermediate plates have minimum and maximum reduction of ultimate strength with stronger stiffeners, respectively. In weak stiffener, reduction of ultimate strength in thin and intermediate plates depends on DOP. Reduction of ultimate strength in thick plates depends on thickness of plate and DOP. For intermediate plates, reduction for all stiffeners regardless of shape and size are the same.

  • Ultra-fine Copper powder for a conductive paste in electric-electronic field have been synthesized by chemical reduction of aqueous $CuSO_4$ with hydrazine hydrate $(N_2H_4{\cdot}H_2O)$ as a reductor. The effect of reaction conditions such as dispersant and reaction temperature on the particle size and shape for the prepared Cu powders was investigated by means of XRD, SEM, TEM and TGA. Experiments showed that type of dispersant and reaction temperature were affected on the particle size and morphology of the copper powder. When the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) was added as a dispersant the relative mono-dispersed and spherical Cu powder was obtained. Cu powders with particle size of approximately 140nm and narrow particle size distribution were obtained from 0.3M $CuSO_4$ with adding of 0.03M CMC and 40ml $N_2H_4{\cdot}H_2O$ at a reaction temperature of $70^{\circ}C$.

  • Nickel ultrafine powder have been synthesized by chemical reduction of aqueous $NiSO_4$ with hydrazine at various reaction conditions. The effect of reaction conditions such as the amount of surfactant and reductor, and reaction temperature on the particle size and shape was investigated by the mean of XRD, SEM and SEM-PSA. Experiments showed that the ratio of $N_{2}H_4/Ni$ and the reaction temperature were affected on the particle size of the nickel powder. The average particle size of synthesized nickel powder increased with increasing reaction temperature regardless of the ratio of $N_{2}H_4/Ni$. Also the surfactant could influence the size and agglomeration of ultrafine powder with the reaction temperature.

  • A fully connected Artificial Neural Network (ANN) contains many connections. Compared to the pruned ANN with fewer connections, the fully connected ANN takes longer time to produce solutions end may not provide appropriate solutions to new unseen date. Therefore, by reducing the sloe of ANN, we can overcome the overfitting problem and increase the computing speed. In this research, we reduced the size of ANN by destroying the connections. In other words, we investigated the performance change of the reduced ANN by systematically destroying the connections. Then we found the acceptable level of connection-destruction on which the resulting ANN Performs as well as the original fully connected ANN. In the previous researches on the sloe reduction of ANN, the reduced ANN had to be retrained every time some connections were eliminated. Therefore, It tool lolly time to obtain the reduced ANN. In this research, however, we provide the acceptable level of connection-destruction according to the size of the fully connected ANN. Therefore, by applying the acceptable level of connection-destruction to the fully connected ANN without any retraining, the reduced ANN can be obtained efficiently.
