The objective of this study is to assess the impact of spray drying conditions on medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) loading, solubility, and release of an MCT-loaded solid self-emulsifying system in a water-insoluble oily substance. MCT-loaded solid self-emulsifying systems are prepared by spray drying with SDS and calcium silicate. The effects of inlet temperature (60, 80, or 100℃) and feed solution composition (0, 10, 50, 90, or 100% ethanol) on physicochemical properties of MCT-loaded solid self-emulsifying systems are studied. The inlet temperature significantly affects the water solubility of MCT. Moreover, the feed solution composition significantly affects water solubility, release rate, and MCT loading. The MCT-loaded solid self-emulsifying system obtained at 60℃ using 90% ethanol feed solution shows the best physicochemical properties among the synthesized products and exhibits better water solubility (4.43 ± 0.44 vs. 0 ㎍/mL) and release (94.4 ± 1.6 vs. 32.8 ± 7.4%, 60 min) than a commercial product. Furthermore, the MCT-loaded solid self-emulsifying system shows an excellent emulsion droplet size (approximately 230 nm).
The most widely used method for determining the blast effects of explosives is the Trauzl lead block test. This test is used to measure the explosive power (strength) of a substance by determining volume increase, which is produced by the detonation of a test explosive charged in the cavity of a lead block with defined quantity and size. In this paper, Trazul lead block test and AUTODYN numerical analysis were conducted to evaluate the coupling medium effect of blast hole. The effects of coupling materials can be expressed as the expansion of the cavity in a standard lead block through explosion of the explosives. The tests were conducted with emulsion explosives. The coupling mediums used as the filling material around a explosive charge were air, sand, water and gelatine. Results of test and numerical analysis showed that expansion of lead block were much more affected by water&gel than by sand and air. The water and gel showed similar results. As expected, the transmitted pressure and dynamic strain was higher in water and gelatine coupled blast hole than in air and sand.

Microcapsules have been widely used in cosmetics and pharmacology as controlled delivery devices of various active materials. Chitosan is the second most plentiful natural biopolymer with biocompatibility and nontoxicity. The chitosan microcapsules were prepared by the water-in-oil (W/O) emulsion method using glutaraldehyde as a crosslinking agent. Span80 was used as an emulsifier, and mineral oil was used as a medium material. Perfectly spherical microcapsules were obtained in the size range of $2{\sim}10{\mu}m$. The effects of emulsifier concentration and stirring speed on the average particle size and distribution were investigated. Encapsulation and release behavior of the microcapsules with different amount of the crosslinking agent (glutaraldehyde), different chitosan contents and different emulsifier concentration conditions were also investigated. The release rate of riboflavin was controlled by the crosslinking density of the chitosan and amount of emulsifier in the preparation of the microcapsule.

This study is to make the liquid crystalline structure using sucrose distearate (Sucro-DS) emulsifier to create the hydrophilic type oil-in-water (O/W) emulsion, the droplets of the emulsion having a structure of a multi-lamellar structure. We have studied the physicochemical properties of Sucro-DS using those techniques. And it has been studied in the emulsion performance. In order to form the liquid crystalline structure applying 3 wt% of Sucro-DS, 5 wt% of glycerin, 5 wt% of squalane, 5 wt% of capric/caprylic triglyceride, 3wt% of cetostearyl alcohol, 1wt% of glyceryl mono-stearate, 78 wt% of pure water in mixture having the lamellar structure of stable multi-layer system was found to formed. By applying them, they were described how to create an unstable active material encapsulated cream. Further, the moisturizing cream was studied using this technique. It reported the results to the skin improvement effect by the human clinical trials. The pH range to produce a stable liquid crystal phase using a Sucro-DS was maintained in 5.2~7.5. In order to increase the stability of the liquid crystal, it was when behenyl alcohol containing 3 wt%, the hardness at this time was 13 kg/mm,min. Viscosity of the same amount was 25,000mPas/min. After a test for the effects of the emulsions, the concentration of 6 wt% Sucro-DS is that was appropriate, the particle size of the liquid crystal was 4~6mm. It was observed through a microscope analysis, reliability of the liquid crystal changes for 3 months was found to get stable at each $4^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $45^{\circ}C$. In clinical trial test, before applying a moisturizing effect it was $13.4{\pm}7%$. Moisturizing cream liquid crystal was not formed in $14.5{\pm}5%$. Therefore, applying than ever before could see the moisture about 8.2% was improved. On the other hand, it was the moisturizing effect of the liquid cream is $19.2{\pm}7%$. The results showed that 43.3% improvement than that previously used. Applications fields, Sucro-DS emulsifier used liquid cream, lotion, eye cream and a variety of formulations can be developed, as well as the cosmetics industry is expected to be wide fields in the application of the external preparation for skin emulsion technology in the pharmaceutical industry and pharmaceutical industry.
To enhance therapeutic effects of insulin-sensitizing adipokine, ADN gene and potent agonists, rosiglitazone for the $PPAR{\gamma}$, cationic liposomes as non-viral vectors were formulated. The particle size and zeta potential of drug loaded and unloaded cationic liposomes were investigated. The complex formation between cationic liposomes and negatively charged plasmid DNA was confirmed and the protection from DNase was observed. In vitro transfection was investigated in HepG2, HeLa, and HEK293 cells by mRNA expression of ADN. Encapsulation efficacy of rosiglitazone-loaded liposomes was determined by UV detection. Particle sizes of cationic liposomes were in the range of 110-170 nm and those of rosiglitazone-loaded cationic liposomes were in the range of 130-180 nm, respectively. Gel retardation of complexes indicated that the complex was formed at weight ratios of cationic lipid to plasmid DNA higher than 20:1. Both complexes protected plasmid DNA from DNase either drug free or drug loading. Encapsulation efficiency of rosiglitazone-loaded emulsion was increased by drug dose. The mRNA expression levels of ADN were dose-dependently increased in cells transfected with plasmid DNA. Therefore, cationic liposomes could be potential co-delivery system for drug and gene.
For the purpose of development of the latex suitable for latex modified concrete, experimental researches on the preparation of carboxylated styrene butadiene latex by the method of the two-step emulsion polymerization and application to concrete were performed. Sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate and sodium salt of lauryl sulfonate were selected as anionic emulsifiers, and nonylphenoxy poly(ethyleneoxy) ethanols (n=10, 20, 40) as latex stabilizer. Potassium persulfate and sodium bisulfite were used as redox initiator, besides $Na_2HPO_4$ and $K_2CO_3$ as electrolytes. Polymerization recipe of latex suitable for latex modified concrete were suggested from the experimental researches on the effects of anionic emulsifiers and their concentration on the polymerization stability, and the effect of electrolytes concentration on the particle size of latex. Physical properties, such as slump, air contents, compressive and flexural strength, of latex prepared by suggested polymerization recipe were examined. The experimental results showed that latex modified concrete satisfied the quality standards in slump and air contents. Furthermore, it was turned out that the compressive and the flexural strength of latex modified concrete with 28 days curing time showed appreciably improvements.
This study investigated the effects of microcapsule wall materials and mixing ratios on the characteristics of microcapsules containing squid liver oil Emulsion stability was increased as Na-caseinate levels lose. Changes in mixing ratios of Na-caseinate and cyclodextrin caused micioencapsulation efficiencies to rise, fall, and then rise again. The particle size aid moisture contort of microencapsulated powders were not affected by the mixing ratios of wall materials. As the cyclodextrin content rose, water uptake was increased. The polyunsaturated fatty acid composition was shown to be higher then 50% in all powders, and the ratio of polyunsaturated fatty acid composition to saturated fatty acid composition was. 2.11 when the Na-caseinate and cyclodextrin mixing ratio was 4:6.
The purpose of this work was the producing of a biodegradable poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) (PCL) microcapsule and the analyzing of form and features for the manufacturing conditions which could be observed in a prospective drug delivery systems (DDS) through drug release. The effects of different stirring rates, stirring times and concentrations of emulsifier for the diameter and form of the microcapsules were observed using image analyzer (IA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). As a result, the microcapsules were made in wrinkle and spherical forms with a mean particle size of 40~300$\pm$20 $mu extrm{m}$. PCL microcapsules containing drugs were confirmed using FT-IR spectra. The role of interfacial adhesion between PCL and drug was determined by contact angle measurements. The drug release test of PCL microcapsules was characterized by UV/vis. spectra. It was found that the drug release rate of the microcapsules prepared with high concentration emulsifier was significantly fast.
The most widely used method for determining the blast effects of explosives is the Trauzl test. This test is used to measure the explosive power (strength) of a substance by determining volume increase, which is produced by the detonation of a tested explosive charge in the cavity of a lead block with defined quality and size. In this paper, Trauzl lead block test and High speed 3D-DIC (Digital Image Correlation) system were conducted to evaluate the stemming effect of the blast hole. The effects of stemming materials can be expressed as the expansion of the cavity in a standard lead block through explosion of the explosives. The blasting experiment was conducted with emulsion explosives. The stemming material in the blast hole of lead block, which was adopted in this study, were using sand and stone chips. Results of blasting experiment and numerical analysis showed that the expansion rates of lead block were most affected by stone chips followed by sand. Also, as result of dynamic strain measurement on the lead block surface of High speed 3D-DIC system, the displacement and surface strain on the block were the highest in the experiment case of stone chips stemming.
