Objective: We investigated the morphologic changes within 24 hours after a single ${\gamma}$-irradiation in the rat brain. Methods: Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were used. After a burr hole trephination on right parietal area, cerebral hemisphere was irradiated with 2Gy and 5Gy using iridium-192($^{192}Ir$), respectively. The effect was assessed at 4, 8, 12 and 24 hours after irradiation. The histological changes were scored following the detection of edema or disarray severity. TUNEL-positive cells exhibiting apoptotic morphology were counted in irradiated region. Results: Cortical edema and disarray were initially showed at 4 or 8 hour and almost all defined at 24 hour after irradiation. And the injury was wedge shape. TUNEL-positive cells were minimal at 8 hour after irradiation as the number of positive cells were $2.6{\pm}5.27$(n=5) after 2Gy, and $0.8{\pm}0.84$(n=5) after 5Gy. But, the number of apoptotic cells were increased markedly to $60{\pm}6.24$ at 12 hour after 2Gy and to $104{\pm}19.7$ at 24 hour after 5Gy. Conclusion: There were prominent morphologic changes immediately after ${\gamma}$-irradiation. And, apoptosis was increased according to the time period. These findings implicate that brain irradiation induces rapid apoptotic change, which may play an important role in the pathogenesis of radiation-induced pathologic conditions.

This study investigated the acoustic forcing effects on the liquid column breakup length and the trajectory of liquid jets in crossflows. Cold-flow tests with a single hole circular nozzle injector were carried out by changing the injection pressure and acoustic forcing amplitude. Additionally, spray images were obtained at 12 phase angles to investigate the influence of the phage angle. The results revealed that the liquid column breakup lengths generally decreased under the acoustic forcing conditions, in comparison to those under the non-acoustic forcing conditions. However, they were not affected by the variation in the phase angles. On the contrary, it was found that the acoustic forcing hardly influenced the liquid column trajectories.

The mounting performance of the GFRP(Glass fiber Reinforced Plastic) beam and the mechanical mounting of the steel bracket was studied to be mounted as a GFRP impact beam on the side door of the passenger car. Moreover, an open-hole tensile test was performed to evaluate breakage tendency based on GFRP stacking conditions. Furthermore, the tightening strength of rivets and bolts was compared using the single lap-shear tension test for the GFRP stacking pattern. Additionally, the GFRP beam and bracket mounting features were designed; moreover, the prototype and bracket were assembled. Additionally, the bracket mounting bending test and the door assembly static bending test were performed to verify the stability of the bracket mounting. In the bracket fastening bending test, no breakage occurred in the connection part between the GFRP beam and the bracket, and it showed 67% (24.4 kN) improved performance compared to steel. In the static bending test of the door assembly, the initial average reaction force increased by 25% compared to the steel, and the performance of all FMVSS-214 regulations was satisfied. The replacement of GFRP impact beams resulted in a 30% weight reduction

$ZrO_2-dopedYb_2O_3solid$ solutions containing 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 mol% $ZrO_2were$ synthesized from spectroscopically pure $Yb_2O_3$ and $ZrO_2$ powders and found to be rare earth C-type structure by XRD technique. Electrical conductivities were measured as a function of temperatures from 700 to $1050^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressures from 1${\times}$$10^-5$ to 2${\times}$$10^-1$atm. The electrical conductivities depend simply on temperature and the activation energies are determined to be 1.56-1.68 $_eV$. The oxygen partial pressure dependence of the electrical conductivity shows that the conductivity increases with increasing oxygen partial pressure, indicating p-type semiconductor. The $PO_2$ dependence of the system is nearly power of 1/4. It is suggested from the linearity of the temperature dependence of electrical conductivity and only one value of 1/n that the solid solutions of the system have single conduction mechanism. From these results, it is concluded that the main defects of the system are negatively doubly charged oxygen interstitial in low. $ZrO_2doping$ level and negatively triply charged cation vacancy in high doping level and the electrical conduction is due to the electronic hole formed by the defect structure.

A brown ring (hereinafter referred to as BR) on the inner surface of a quartz glass crucible used in the manufacturing process of a silicon ingot for semiconductor wafers was studied. BR is 20~30 ㎛ in size and has an asymmetric brown ring shape. The size and distribution of BR were different depending on the crucible location, and the size and distribution of BR were the largest and most abundant in the round part with the highest crucible temperature during Si ingot growth. BR contains cristobalite, which has a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than quartz glass, so it is considered that surface cracks appear. The color development of BR and pin holes are presumed to be due to oxygen vacancies.
Steel anchor bolts are installed in concrete using a variety of methods. One of the most common methods of anchor bolt installation is using epoxy resin as an infill material injected into the drilled hole to act as a bonding material between the steel bolt and the surrounding concrete. Typical design standards assume uniform stress distribution along the length of the anchor bolt accompanied with single crack leading to pull-out failure. Experimental evidence has shown that the steel anchor bolts fail owing to the multiple failure patterns, hence these design assumptions are not realistic. In this regard, the presented research work details the analytical model that takes into consideration multiple micro cracks in the infill material induced via impact loading. The impact loading from the Schmidt hammer is used to evaluate the bond condition bond condition of anchor bolt and the epoxy material. The added advantage of the presented analytical model is that it is able to take into account the various type of end conditions of the anchor bolts such as bent or U-shaped anchors. Through sensitivity analysis the optimum stiffness and shear strength properties of the epoxy infill material is achieved, which have shown to achieve lower displacement coupled with reduced damage to the surrounding concrete. The accuracy of the presented model is confirmed by comparing the simulated deformational responses with the experimental evidence. From the comparison it was found that the model was successful in simulating the experimental results. The proposed model can be adopted by professionals interested in predicting and controlling the deformational response of anchor bolts.
This study aims to provide a better understanding of the turbulent flow characteristics in swash zone. A double dam-break method is employed to generate the swash zone flow. Comparing with the conventional single dam-break method, a delay between two gate opening can be controlled to reproduce various interactions between uprush and backwash. For numerical simulations, overInterDyMFoam based on OpenFOAM is adopted. Using overInterDyMFoam, interface between two immiscible fluids having different densities (i.e., air and water phases) can be tracked in a moving mesh with multiple layers. Two-dimensional Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved with a standard 𝜅-𝜖 turbulence model for momentum and continuity. Numerical model results are validated with laboratory experiment data for the time series of water depth and streamwise velocity. Turbulent kinetic energy distribution is further investigated to identify the turbulence evolution for each flow regime (i.e., uprush, backwash, and swash-swash interaction).
Unlike the roll-to-roll process that uses a steel roll and a nip roll, a vacuum roll can hold and transfer a thin film using a single roll. To precisely manufacture a vacuum roll, a thin outer cylinder must be machined, which is assembled on the outside of the roll and contacts the film via vacuum pressure. In this study, the effects of jaw width and chucking force on the deformation of the outer cylinder during the turning process were investigated using analysis, and a precision machining and burr removal process was developed. The deformation of the outer cylinder decreased almost linearly with increasing jaw width and increased with higher chucking force and larger cylinder diameter. Additionally, the deflection due to the weight of the outer cylinder was approximately three times greater than that caused by film tension. For the machined outer cylinder, a burr removal experiment was conducted, and concentricity and cylindricity were measured. Using a device that removes burrs by rotating a wheel connected to the main shaft at high speed, it was found that burrs generated on the inner diameter could be removed very efficiently. On the vacuum side, the concentricity errors of the inner and outer diameters were 0.015 mm and 0.014 mm, respectively, and on the opposite side, they were 0.006 mm and 0.010 mm, respectively. Additionally, the measurement of Total Indicator Runout (TIR) according to the angle showed that the maximum cylindricity of the outer and inner diameters was 0.02 mm and 0.025 mm, respectively. Finally, through burr-height measurement at the hole boundary, it was found that the heights were within 0.05 mm.

In order to prepare a low-cost conductive filler material possessing improved anti-oxidation property, Ag-coated Cu flakes were fabricated and the effects of an applying method of ammonium-based pretreatment solution on the Cu flakes were analyzed. The pretreatment solution was used to remove the surface oxide layer on Cu flake. During a single-stage pretreatment process, hole-shaped defects were formed on the flake surface during the pretreatment after 2 min, and the number and size increased in proportion to the pretreatment time. In the case that Ag plating solution was injected in the pretreatment solution after the pretreatment for 2 min, the defects were also formed during Ag plating. In contrast, the defects tremendous decreased in the case that the pretreatment solution was removed after the first pretreatment for 2 min and the Ag plating proceeded after the second pretratment using a low concentration pretreatment solution. As the final result, the 15 wt% Ag-coated Cu flake sample which was fabricated using the single-stage pretreatment oxidized at $166^{\circ}C$, but the sample fabricated by the double-stage pretreatment oxidized at $224^{\circ}C$, indicating definitely improved anti-oxidation property.
This paper was studied the tri-band folded monopole antenna design with Mu-negative metamaterial unit cell, which operates at 700 MHz UHD broadcast band and 2.45 GHz/5 GHz WiFi band. The MNR metamaterial is fabricated by forming a capacitor on the backside of the antenna substrate and connecting it to the ground plane through a strip line and a via hole so that a single cell can operate in the MZR (Mu zero resonator). Through this, the resonance point can be controlled to resonate in the zero mode in 700 MHz band, and the bandwidth is improved. Experimental results show that the 10dB bandwidth and gain are 309 MHz (41.2%) and 5.298 dB at the first resonance point, and the 10dB bandwidth and gain at the second resonance point are 821.9 MHz (33.5%) and 2.7840 dB respectively. At the third resonance point, the gain and bandwidth were 1.1314 GHz (20.6%) and 2.9484 dB respectively. We confirmed that the resonance point with theoretical value is in agreement with experimental value. And the radiation pattern is generally omnidirectional, and it has been confirmed that the radiation pattern is good in both forward and backward directions at 0.75 GHz and 2.45 GHz, and has a radiation pattern with multiple lobes at 5.5 GHz.
