Fault Diagnosis for Electric Chassis System

  • In the near future, drive-by-wire systems will replace mechanical systems of vehicles. Since there would be no mechanical redundancy in the x-by-wire subsystem, it needs to improve the reliability of the system using fault diagnosis of sensors and actuators. This paper proposes a Kalman filter based fault diagnosis method for the vehicle with the drive-by-wire system, which includes steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire and throttle-by-wire systems. We will show that the proposed method is successful in fault detection and isolation for single sensor/actuator faults of the vehicle system.

  • SVL is installed at underground transmission system to protect cables and insulation joint-box from overvoltages caused by lightning, switching, and line-to-ground fault. Domestic underground power system adopts cross bonding type to reduce the induced voltage at sheath, but single-point bonding is required depending the system installation configuration. SVL can be easily broken by overvoltages induced at joint-box because single-point bonding has uneffective system structure to extract fault current. ANSI/IEEE recommends Parallel Ground Continuity Conductor(PGCC) to prevent SVL breakdown. In this paper, EMTP simulation is performed to analyze effects on SVL under PGCC installation when single-line-to-ground fault occurs. The result shows that PGCC and short single-point bonding distance can reduce overvoltages at SVL.

  • This paper introduces a sea environmental monitoring system for measuring pH,DO, level and temperature. This system is developed using a personal computer(PC) and multiple single board computers. A PC communicates with the single board computers by awireless communication method and transfers data to another personal computer for processing data by a modem. The values of pH,Do,level and temperature, which are basic components to estimate sea environment, are real-timely processed in the single board computer at each stations, and transferred to the monitoring PC. These data are graphically shown on the PC monitor and logged on the data processing system in the form of file. Using the wire and wireless communication system, user can constantly analyze the acquired data and detect the sea contamination.

와이어쏘 공정에서 다이아몬드 입자의 인성지수가 절단 성능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Toughness Index of Diamond Abrasives on Cutting Performance in Wire Sawing Process)

  • Multi-wire sawing is the prominent technology employed to cut hard material ingots into wafers. This paper aimed to research the effect of diamond toughness index on the cutting performance of electroplated diamond wire. Three different toughness index of diamond abrasives were used to manufacture electroplated diamond wires. The cutting performance of electroplated diamond wire is verified through experiments, in which sapphire ingot are cut using single wire sawing machine. A single wire saw for constant load slicing is developed for the cutting performance evaluation of electroplated diamond wire. Choosing the cutting depth, total cutting depth, cutting force and wear of electroplated diamond wires as evaluation parameters, the performance of electroplated diamond wire is evaluated. The results of this study showed that there was a significant direct relationship between the toughness index of diamond abrasives and the cutting performance. Results demonstrated that diamond abrasive with a high toughness index showed higher cutting performance. However, all diamond abrasives showed similar cutting performance under low load conditions. The results of this paper are useful for the development of cutting large diameter ingots and cutting high hardness ingots at high speed.

  • AC transport current losses is an important factor in the development of superconducting tapes and superconducting power applications. In this paper we compared measurement, calculation and Norris equation of AC transport current loss in BSCCO single and multi stacked wire. And present a distribution flux density and current density in the HTS single wire and multi stacked wire. The result of Measurement and calculation of Ac transport current loss show that the same. And show that HTS characteristic of inside HTS wire.

Transflective liquid crystal display with single cell gap and simple structure

  • This work reports the simple fabrication of the single cell gap transflective liquid crystal display (LCD) using wire grid polarizer. The nano sized wire grid polarizer was patterned on common electrode itself, on the reflective part of FFS (Fringe field switching) mode whereas the common electrode was unpatterned at transmissive part. However, this structure didn't show single gamma curve, so we further improved the device by patterning the common electrode at transmissive part. As a result, V-T curve of proposed structure shows single gamma curve. Such a device structure is free from in-cell retarder, compensation film and reflector and furthermore it is very thin and easy to fabricate.

Mechanical Properties and Comparisons of Cerclage Wires of Various Diameters in Different Knot Methods

  • The aim of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of 0.6 and 0.8 mm cerclage wires with the 1.0 mm cerclage wire in the twist, single-loop, double-loop, double-wrap, and loop/twist knot methods. Six stainless steel cerclage wires of various diameters in different knot methods were tied round a customized jig mounted on a load testing machine. The initial tension, initial stiffness, and yield load were evaluated. The failure mode of each cerclage was observed. For each wire size, the double-loop, double-wrap, and loop/twist knots showed significantly greater initial stiffness, and yield load than those seen with twist and single-loop knots. The single-loop knot showed the least initial stiffness regardless of the diameter. As the cerclage wire diameter increased, the cerclage tended to show significantly greater initial stiffness, and yield load. Failure modes varied depending on the knot configurations. Single-loop knots of smaller-diameter wires less than 1 mm had similar or lower initial tension, initial stiffness, and yield load than a twist knot. Owing to the variance in mechanical properties, the clinical application of the knot type should depend on the diameter of the cerclage wire.

미세 다심선 정수압 압출 및 단선 무금형 신장 성형 기술 (Multi-Filament Hydrostatic Extrusion and Fine Wire Dieless Stretching Technology)

  • Multi-filament hydrostatic extrusion was developed as a fine wire manufacturing process and wire forming experiments were conducted. Also, single wire stretch forming process was proposed in the possibility of obtaining long wire with constant cross-section. In the multi filament extrusion since the workpiece, die and forming facility are in the macro forming circumstance, fine wire and fine hole structure with less than a few micrometer can be easily obtained. Although stretch forming does not use a die in order to avoid the friction problem between the workpiece and the die, it is necessary to have high level of technology to maintain cross-sectional shape and measure in longitudinal direction.

Stress Profile Dependence of the Optical Properties in Strained Quantum Wire Arrays

  • The effects of strain distribution in quantum wire arrays have been analyzed using a finite-element method including both the hydrostatic and shear strain components. Their effects on the optical properties of the quantum wire arrays are assessed for various types of stress profiles by calculating the optical gain and the polarization dependence. The results show unique polarization dependency, which can be exploited either for the single polarization or the polarization-independent operation in quantum wire photonic devices.

트위스트 다이아몬드 와이어의 성능향상을 위한 특성평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on New Twist-Diamond Wire Characteristics for Improving Processing Performance)

  • In this study, a new method to develop a fixed diamond wire for silicon wafer machining by the multi-wire cutting method was developed. The new twist diamond wire has improved performance with high breaking strength and chip flutes structure. According to these characteristics, the new twist diamond wire can be used in the higher speed multi-wire cutting process with a long lifetime. Except the design of the new structure, the twist diamond wire is coating by electroless-electroplating process. It is good for reducing breakage and the falling-off of diamond grains. Based on the silicon material removal mechanism and performance of the wire-cutting machine, the optimal processing condition of the new twist diamond wire has been derived via mathematical analysis. At last, through the tensile testing and the machining experiments, the performance of the twist diamond wire has been obtained to achieve the development goals and exceed the single diamond wire.
