A technique on atmospheric correction algorithm for a single band (0.76-0.90 $\mu$m) reflective of Landsat TM imagery has been developed using a radiation transfer model simulation. It proceeds in two steps: First, calculation of the surface reflectance of each pixel based on precomputed planetary albedo functions for actual atmospheres(e. g. radiosonde) and two kinds of atmospheric visibility states. Second, approximate correction of the adjacency pixel effect by taking into account the average reflectance in an 7 $\times$ 7 pixel neighbourhood and using appropriate land cover classification in reflectance. The correction functions are provided by MODTRAN model.
An ultraviolet (UV) image sensor is an extremely important optoelectronic device used in scientific and medical applications because it can detect images that cannot be obtained using visible or infrared image sensors. Because photodetectors and transistors are based on different materials, conventional UV imaging devices, which have a hybrid-type structure, require additional complex processes such as a backside etching of a GaN epi-wafer and a wafer-to-wafer bonding for the fabrication of the image sensors. In this study, we developed a monolithic GaN UV passive pixel sensor (PPS) by integrating a GaN-based Schottky-barrier type transistor and a GaN UV photodetector on a wafer. Both individual devices show good electrical and photoresponse characteristics, and the fabricated UV PPS was successfully operated under UV irradiation conditions with a high on/off extinction ratio of as high as $10^3$. This integration technique of a single pixel sensor will be a breakthrough for the development of GaN-based optoelectronic integrated circuits.

This paper presents low-complexity single-image dehazing to enhance the visibility of outdoor images that are susceptible to degradation due to weather and environmental conditions, and applies it to various devices. The conventional methods involve refinement of coarse transmission with high computational complexity and extensive memory requirements. But the proposed transmission estimation method includes excellent edge-preserving performance from comparison of the pixel-based dark channel and the patch-based dark channel in the vicinity of edges, and transmission can be estimated with low complexity since no refinement is required. Moreover, it is possible to accurately estimate transmissions and adaptively remove haze according to the characteristics of the images via prediction of the atmospheric light for each pixel using joint bright and dark channel (JBDC). Comprehensive experiments on various hazy images show that the proposed method exhibits reduced computational complexity and excellent dehazing performance, compared to the existing methods; thus, it can be applied to various fields including real-time devices.
ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and street furniture information collecting car like as MMS(Mobile Mapping System), they require object location estimation method for recognizing spatial information of object in road images. But, the case of conventional methods, these methods require additional hardware module for gathering spatial information of object and have high computational complexity. In this paper, for a coordinate of road sign in single camera image, a position estimation scheme of object in road images is proposed using the relationship between the pixel and object size in real world. In this scheme, coordinate value and direction are used to get coordinate value of a road sign in images after estimating the equation related on pixel and real size of road sign. By experiments with test video set, it is confirmed that proposed method has high accuracy for mapping estimated object coordinate into commercial map. Therefore, proposed method can be used for MMS in commercial region.
We address a question of what are three main channels that can best translate other channels in ultraviolet (UV) and extreme UV (EUV) observations. For this, we compare the image translations among the nine channels of the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly on the Solar Dynamics Observatory using a deep learning model based on conditional generative adversarial networks. In this study, we develop 170 deep learning models: 72 models for single-channel input, 56 models for double-channel input, and 42 models for triple-channel input. All models have a single-channel output. Then we evaluate the model results by pixel-to-pixel correlation coefficients (CCs) within the solar disk. Major results from this study are as follows. First, the model with 131 Å shows the best performance (average CC = 0.84) among single-channel models. Second, the model with 131 and 1600 Å shows the best translation (average CC = 0.95) among double-channel models. Third, among the triple-channel models with the highest average CC (0.97), the model with 131, 1600, and 304 Å is suggested in that the minimum CC (0.96) is the highest. Interestingly they are representative coronal, photospheric, and chromospheric lines, respectively. Our results may be used as a secondary perspective in addition to primary scientific purposes in selecting a few channels of an UV/EUV imaging instrument for future solar satellite missions.
In this study, we apply a deep learning model to denoising solar magnetograms. For this, we design a model based on conditional generative adversarial network, which is one of the deep learning algorithms, for the image-to-image translation from a single magnetogram to a denoised magnetogram. For the single magnetogram, we use SDO/HMI line-of-sight magnetograms at the center of solar disk. For the denoised magnetogram, we make 21-frame-stacked magnetograms at the center of solar disk considering solar rotation. We train a model using 7004 paris of the single and denoised magnetograms from 2013 January to 2013 October and test the model using 1432 pairs from 2013 November to 2013 December. Our results from this study are as follows. First, our model successfully denoise SDO/HMI magnetograms and the denoised magnetograms from our model are similar to the stacked magnetograms. Second, the average pixel-to-pixel correlation coefficient value between denoised magnetograms from our model and stacked magnetogrmas is larger than 0.93. Third, the average noise level of denoised magnetograms from our model is greatly reduced from 10.29 G to 3.89 G, and it is consistent with or smaller than that of stacked magnetograms 4.11 G. Our results can be applied to many scientific field in which the integration of many frames are used to improve the signal-to-noise ratio.

Purpose: To clarify the usefulness and the limitation of Digora system/sup (R)/ by evaluating the physical characteristics as the quantitative image on Image Plate(Ip). Materials and Methods: Radiograms were taken by Heliodent MD(Siemens Co.. Germany) with the image plate for adult. Cu-step wedge as reference material. and three pieces of dry mandibular bone. Image analysis was performed by single color enhancement. density measurement with histogram. The relationship between the exposure conditions and the distribution of the pixel values of the image. the variation of pixel values of each step of Cu-step wedge at two different area and Cu-equivalent value of three pieces of dry mandibular bone measure by the conversion equation. Results: There was no linear relationship between the exposure condition and the average pixel value of the image. of which the distribution was not even. The pixel value differences between the center portion and the periphery were ranged from 60 to 70 in vertical plane and from 15 to 26 in horizontal plane. Two plot profile formed at two different areas of the Cu-step wedge were different. The measured Cu-equivalent values showed the discrepancy among the times of measurement. Conclusion: As above results. Image Plate(Ip) of Digora system/sup (R)/ showed the limitation as the quantitative image. The physical property of IP was expected to need to be compensated for the quantitative evaluation of the bone or others
In this paper, we perform Single Image Super Resolution(SISR) for acquired images of EOTS or IRST from naval combat system. In order to conduct super resolution, we use Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs), which consists of a generative model to create a super-resolution image from the given low-resolution image and a discriminative model to determine whether the generated super-resolution image is qualified as a high-resolution image by adjusting various learning parameters. The learning parameters consist of a crop size of input image, the depth of sub-pixel layer, and the types of training images. Regarding evaluation method, we apply not only general image quality metrics, but feature descriptor methods. As a result, a larger crop size, a deeper sub-pixel layer, and high-resolution training images yield good performance.

In this paper, we propose a Fuzzy Classifier System(FCS) to find a set of fuzzy rules which can carry out the edge detection. The classifier system of Holland can evaluate the usefulness of rules represented by classifiers with repeated learning. FCS makes the classifier system be able to carry out the mapping from continuous inputs to outputs. It is the FCS that applies the method of machine learning to the concept of fuzzy logic. It is that the antecedent and consequent of classifier is same as a fuzzy rule. In this paper, the FCS is the Michigan style. A single fuzzy if-then rule is coded as an individual. The average gray levels which each group of neighbor pixels has are represented into fuzzy set. Then a pixel is decided whether it is edge pixel or not using fuzzy if-then rules. Depending on the average of gray levels, a number of fuzzy rules can be activated, and each rules makes the output. These outputs are aggregated and defuzzified to take new gray value of the pixel. To evaluate this edge detection, we will compare the new gray level of a pixel with gray level obtained by the other edge detection method such as Sobel edge detection. This comparison provides a reinforcement signal for FCS which is reinforcement learning. Also the FCS employs the Genetic Algorithms to make new rules and modify rules when performance of the system needs to be improved.

Although commercial PIV systems have been widely used for the non-intrusive velocity field measurement of fluid flows, they are still under development and have considerable room for improvement. In this study, a single-frame double-exposure PIV system using a high-resolution CCD camera was developed. A pulsed Nd:Yag laser and high-resolution CCD camera were synchronized by a home-made control circuit. In order to resolve the directional ambiguity problem encountered in the single-frame PIV technique, the second particle image was genuinely shifted in the CCD sensor array during the time interval dt. The velocity vector field was determined by calculating the displacement vector at each interrogation window using cross-correlation with 50% overlapping. In order to check the effect of spatial resolution of CCD camera on the accuracy of PIV velocity field measurement, the developed PIV system with three different resolution modes of the CCD camera (512 ${\times}$ 512, lK ${\times}$ IK, 2K ${\times}$ 2K) was applied to a turbulent flow which simulate the Zn plating process of a steel strip. The experimental model consists of a snout and a moving belt. Aluminum flakes about $1{\mu}m$ diameter were used as scattering particles for the liquid flow in the zinc pot and the gas flow above the zinc surface was seeded with atomized olive oil with an average diameter of 1-$3{\mu}m$. Velocity field measurements were carried out at the strip speed $V_s$=1.0 m/s. The 2K ${\times}$ 2K high-resolution PIV technique was significantly superior compared to the smaller pixel resolution PIV system. For the cases of 512 ${\times}$ 512 and 1K ${\times}$ 1K pixel resolution PIV system, it was difficult to get accurate flow structure of viscous flow near the wall and small vortex structure in the region of large velocity gradient.
