Living arrangement is considered an important variable in discussing loneliness and the psychological state of the elderly. From this point of view, this study aimed at Identifying the effects of living arrangements, sociodemographic variables, social activities, and social psychological variables on the psychological loneliness of the rural elderly. Though hierarchical regression analyses. the predictors of loneliness among the rural elderly were identified as single/co-residence living arrangement(r=.49), sense of well-being based on respects for others' perspectives (r: -.22), needs for remarriage (r=.22), and work hours during off- farming season (r: -.19). The effects of living arrangement remained strong and were not influenced by the addition of sociodemographic variables, social activity variable, and social psychological variables. The feeling of loneliness of the elderly who were living alone was higher than among the elderly who were living with someone else. This finding suggests that the loneliness of the rural elderly derives primarily from the lack of family Interaction. Therefore, it is recommended that social welfare policies for the rural elderly be designed to improve their family and social interactions.
The purpose of this study was to determine nitrogen dioxide(NO$_2$) decay rate by reaction between NO$_2$ and interior materials in Korean residence. The results of this research could be helpful to choose the interior construction materials and to study on reduction of indoor air pollutants. The results of this research are as follows; For 30 residences in Seoul and Incheon from October 2000 to march 2001, the mean of infiltration rate was 0.70$\pm$0.44 ACH, and single-detached houses (7 houses) and apartments (19 houses) were 0.97$\pm$0.55 ACH and 0.61$\pm$0.34 ACH, respectively. The $CO_2$ decay followed approximately first-order process ($R^2$=0.97$\pm$0.02). There existed a statistic significance in filtration rate between houses built in 1980’s and built in 1990’s by t-test (p<0.02). Mean of NO$_2$ decay rates in 26 residence3s except 4 residences was 0.94$\pm$0.49hr$^{-1}$ , and also 0.86$\pm$0.49hr$^{-1}$ , 0.97$\pm$0.50hr$^{-1}$ in single-detached houses and apartments, respectively. Mean NO$_2$ decay rates in houses built in 1980’s were 0.78$\pm$0.37hr$^{-1}$ , 1.33$\pm$1.03hr$^{-1}$ , respectively. Nothing were showed statistical significance among indoor temperature, indoor humidity, and NO$_2$ decay rate. However, NO$_2$ decay rates had a tendency to increase by increase of temperature and humidity. Average volume/surface of participated houses was 0.55$\pm$0.07m and mean NO$_2$ deposition velocity was calculated as 1.46$\pm$0.59msec$^{-1}$ .

Background: Many studies have reported that adolescents living with single parent have a high risk of obesity. However, those studies did not explore the implication of the gender of single parent living with adolescents. This study investigated the differences in obesity rates according to status of co-residence with their parents in Korean adolescents. The family living with single parent was classified into the family living with single father and the family living with single mother. Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 59,602 adolescents who participated in the 2017 Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey. The data on height, weight, status of co-residence with parents, and the other variables were obtained through online questionnaires. Results: In male adolescents, the family living with single mother was related to a high proportion of obesity (odds ratio [OR] 1.24, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.09-1.40) and overweight (OR 1.17, 95% CI 1.03-1.34). However, in female adolescents, the family living with single father was related to a high proportion of obesity (OR 1.49, 95% CI 1.23-1.82). In addition, female adolescents living with neither parent were more likely to be obese (OR 1.47, 95% CI 1.13-1.91) and overweight (OR 1.31, 95% CI 1.00-1.70). Conclusions: This study showed a risk of obesity in adolescents living with single parent differs according to the gender of single parent living with adolescents. Not adolescents living with a same-gender parent, but those living with an opposite-gender parent have a high risk of obesity.

In this study, the 3D computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was performed in relation to the internal fluid characteristics, flow distribution, air mean ages, and residence time for the development of the most optimal model in the complex post-disposal device. As it is expected that a channeling (drift) would be made by the semi-dry reactor due to the large difference in the flow distribution by the compartment in the bag filter, a structural improvement should be urgently made for more uniformed flow distribution in the bag filter. In addition, it showed the possibility that the velocity field and distribution characteristics of the residence time could be improved through a modification to inlet structure of the spray dryer reactor. The complex post-disposal device, modified and supplemented with this analysis, integrated the semi-dry reactor and the bag filter in a single body, so it follows that the improvement can make the device compact, the installation area, the operation fee, and management more convenient.
NOx reduction experiments were conducted by direct injection of urea into a diesel fueled, combustion-driven flow reactor which simulated a single engine cylinder ($966cm^3$). NOx reduction tests were carried out over a wide range of air/fuel ratios (A/F=20-40) using an initial NOx level of 530ppm, and for normalized stoichiometric ratios of reductant to NOx (NSR) of 1.5 to 4.0. The results show that effective NOx reduction with urea occurred over an injection temperature range of 1100 to 1350K. NOx reduction increased with increasing NSR values, and about a 40%-60% reduction of NOx was achieved with NSR=1.5-4.0. Most of the NOx reduction occurred within the cylinder and head section (residence time <40msec), since temperatures in the exhaust pipe were too low for additional NOx reduction. Relatively low NOx reduction is believed to be due to the existence of higher levels of CO and unburned hydrocarbons (UHC)inside the cylinder, and large temperature drops along the reactor. Injection of secondary combustible additives (diesel fuel/$C_2H_6$) into the exhaust pipe promoted further substantial NOx reduction (5%-30%) without shifting the temperature windows. Diesel fuel was found to enhance NOx reduction more than $C_2H_6$, and finally practical implications are further discussed.

The study was initially designed to look into the soon-to-be senior citizens' preferences for the life after retirement in aging society. Its outcomes are to be contributed to grading up the quality of housing culture through examining the expected changes of housing types in the future. The increasing number of the soon-to-be senior citizens becomes leading subjects in information, culture and consumption areas. Therefore it is significant to present a model of housing types for those citizens by analyzing their preferred residence after retirement. To complete those objectives, a set of questionnaires concerning sex, age, district, education and income of those subjects in 40's-50's, who are expected to be more than 20 percent of national population by 2030, were collected and analyzed to find out their preferences over housing types, residential welfare facilities, and co-housing. The results show that the preferences over the residential welfare facilities and co-housing for those who are able to move for themselves are low, while the preferences over single-unit houses in the suburbs within 2 hours from a city are very high. Preferences for apartments in the urban areas are high for those with high income and education. In contrast preferences for life in their hometowns are high for those whose income and education are relatively low. Most of those with some difficulties in moving for themselves want to get help with welfare facilities for the elderly people. And the preferences of those who want to receive help from assistants are different from those preferring to get help from their offsprings, which tells a need for further study of the convertible housing types according to their family members.
The bioequivalence of two cyclosporin A products was evaluated in 26 normal male volunteers (age 25 ~33 yr, body weight 56~84 kg) following single oral administration. Test product was a hard capsule containing the granule of cyclosporin A (Chong Kun Dang Corp., Korea) and reference product, Sandimmun", was a soft capsule containing surfactant, oil, alcohol and cyclosporin A (Sandoz, Swiss). Both products contain 100 mg of cyclosporin A. Four capsules of the test and the reference product were administered to the volunteers, respectively, by randomized two period cross-over study (2$\times$2 Latin square method). Average drug concentrations at each sampling time and pharmacokinetic parameters were not significantly different between two products (p>0.05); the area under the concentration-time curve to last sampling time (24 hr) (AU $Co_{24}$) (5034.8$\pm$ 1760.6 vs 4635.4$\pm$ 1158.9 ng . h/ml), maximum plasma concentration ( $C_{max}$) (1002.7$\pm$353.1 vs 980. 4$\pm$ 171.7 ng/71), and mean residence time (MRT) (6.16$\pm$0.81 vs 5.64$\pm$0.50 h). The differences of mean AUC 7-,4,7~, T_ and MRT between the two products (7.93,2.22,16 and 8.39%, respectively) were less than 20% given as a guideline. The power (1-$\beta$) and treatment difference ($\Delta$) for AU $Co_{24}$, $C_{max}$ and MRT were more than 0.8 and less than 0.2, respectively. Although $T_{max}$ of the two products was significantly different each other (p<0.05), $T_{max}$ might be an insignificant parameter because cyclosporin A generally requires long-term administration. From these results, the two products are bioequivalent.alent.t.

In this study, we used a commercial simulator to investigate the gasification characteristics of Roto coal in the partitioned fluidized-bed gasifier, which consists of 4 parts such as coal pyrolysis, char gasification, tar/oil gasification and char combustion. The heating medium was exchanged between the combustion part and the gasification part in order to supply the energy needed for pyrolysis and gasification. The correlation model from experimental data in relation to the reaction temperatures, the reaction gases and the coal feed rates was derived for the coal pyrolysis. The equilibrium model was used for the gasification and the combustion model for the char combustion. In order to compare the reaction behavior of the partitioned fluidized-bed gasifier, the single-bed gasifier was also simulated. The cold gas efficiency of both partitioned fluidized-bed gasifier and single-bed gasifier was almost the same. The $H_2$ and $CH_4$ contents of the syngas in the partitioned fluidized-bed gasifier slightly increased and the CO and $CO_2$ contents slightly decreased, compared with the singlebed gasifier. In order to verify the model, ten cases of the single-bed gasification experiment have been simulated. The contents of CO, $CO_2$, $CH_4$ in the syngas from the simulation corresponded with the experimental data while those of $H_2$ was slightly higher than experimental data, but the tendency of $H_2$ content in the syngas was similar to the experiments. In the coal conversion, the simulation results were higher than the experiments since equilibrium model was used for the gasification so that the residence time and contact time in the model is different from the experiments.
When Korea opened its ports and underwent Japanese colonization, many Japanese style houses were built in Korea. Following Korea's independence from Japan, Koreans began to reside in these houses. The objective of this study is to examine the current state of Japanese style residence areas and Japanese style houses in Korea, and to determine the change in the characteristics of dining kitchens that have taken place since Koreans have lived in them. In the process, while assimilation occurred, there was also a conflict between the residential lifestyles of the two cultures, developing into a state where two housing cultures co-existed. The dining kitchens showed the most sensitive adjustments to social changes, facilitating a number of important changes in the process of modernizing houses. In this regard, the intention is to determine how the dining kitchens responded to other areas within the house as they were being transformed. Research for this study is based on previous studies that were carried out in 1991 on Japanese style houses, in order to clearly define the process of change chronologically rather than from a single examination. In consequently, From the process of changes where from a conventional kitchen to DK anger, 1) The public space - wooden floor, living room, etc - had been formed in house spaces. 2) In the lifestyle, privacy secured. It was separated each functional spaces that greeting space for guests and family's space in the lifestyle. 3) The cause of variation could be summarized that differences of living style, a change of life and fuel.
The purpose of this research is to verify that adjustment resilience has a moderating effect on the influence of social exclusion regarding suicide in senior citizens, and the research results are as follows: First, the demographic sociological factors that affect suicidal impulse have been shown to be age, education level, marriage status, and child co-residence. Senior citizens between the ages of 75 and 80 have been shown to have the most suicidal impulses, whereas the tendency to have such suicidal impulses increases as the level of education decreases. Furthermore, those seniors who are unmarried or single due to divorce, death, or separation and those who do not live with their children tended to have stronger, more frequent suicidal impulses. Second, seniors have been shown to suffer stronger suicidal impulse when subjected to more serious social exclusion. Third, it has been verified that adjustment resilience has a strong moderating effect on the influence of social exclusion regarding the suicidal impulses of senior citizens. Last, the results of the inclination test (Hypothesis Test for Slope of Inclination) have shown that adjustment resilience tends to be lower in the group that is more socially excluded. The purpose of this research is to suggest the direction of social policy creation in order to prevent suicide by senior citizens and set forth the practical implication regarding adjustment resilience as a protection factor for further studies.
