몬테칼로 씨뮬레이션을 통한 SN비의 효율성비교 (Efficiency Comparison of Signal-to-Noise Ratios through Monte Carlo Simulations)

  • For quality improvement, Taguchi emphasizes the reduction of variation of the quality characteristic, Taguchi has used the signal-to-noise ratios for achieving minimum dispersion of the quality characteristic with its location adjusted to some desired target value ${\tau}$ Lim(1994) proposes a reasonable SN ratio based on a linking relationship of the variance and mean through simple data analysis technique. In this paper we investigate the efficiency of those two SN ratios and variance stabilizing transformations through Monte Carlo Simulations.

New criteria to fix number of hidden neurons in multilayer perceptron networks for wind speed prediction

  • This paper proposes new criteria to fix hidden neuron in Multilayer Perceptron Networks for wind speed prediction in renewable energy systems. To fix hidden neurons, 101 various criteria are examined based on the estimated mean squared error. The results show that proposed approach performs better in terms of testing mean squared errors. The convergence analysis is performed for the various proposed criteria. Mean squared error is used as an indicator for fixing neuron in hidden layer. The proposed criteria find solution to fix hidden neuron in neural networks. This approach is effective, accurate with minimal error than other approaches. The significance of increasing the number of hidden neurons in multilayer perceptron network is also analyzed using these criteria. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulations were conducted on real time wind data. Simulations infer that with minimum mean squared error the proposed approach can be used for wind speed prediction in renewable energy systems.

Global Periodic Solutions in a Delayed Predator-Prey System with Holling II Functional Response

  • We consider a delayed predator-prey system with Holling II functional response. Firstly, the paper considers the stability and local Hopf bifurcation for a delayed prey-predator model using the basic theorem on zeros of general transcendental function, which was established by Cook etc.. Secondly, special attention is paid to the global existence of periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations. By using a global Hopf bifurcation result due to Wu, we show that the local Hopf bifurcation implies the global Hopf bifurcation after the second critical value of delay. Finally, several numerical simulations supporting the theoretical analysis are given.

  • This paper proposes a second-order implicit constraint enforcement method which yields enhanced controllability compared to a first-order implicit constraints enforcement method. Although the proposed method requires solving a linear system twice, it yields superior accuracy from the constraints error perspective and guarantees the precise and natural movement of objects, in contrast to the first-order method. Thus, the proposed method is the most suitable for exact prediction simulations. This paper describes the numerical formulation of second-order implicit constraints enforcement. To prove its superiority, the proposed method is compared with the firstorder method using a simple two-link simulation. In this paper, there is a reasonable discussion about the comparison of constraints error and the analysis of dynamic behavior using kinetic energy and potential energy.

전륜 및 후륜 캠버각 변화에 따른 차량 조종성능 효과 분석 (Effects on Vehicle Handling Performance according to Camber Angle Change of Front and Rear Wheel)

  • In this study, a camber angle generating mechanism for front and rear suspension is suggested. An experimental device is implemented and tested. A full vehicle model with camber angle generating device by using ADAMS/Car is modeled. Step steer simulations are carried out for investigating the effects of vehicle handling performance due to camber angle change of front and rear wheel. According to results, the camber angle of rear suspension affects the vehicle handling performance during both simulations. Therefore, when the vehicle makes the right turn or left turn, left and right wheel of front and rear suspension should have the proper orientation for improving the handling performance, respectively.

  • In order to show the efficiency and accuracy of an expert drawbead model, finite element simulations of auto-body panel stampings are carried out. For numerical modeling of the drawbead of a panel die, the drawbead restraining force and bead-exit thinning calculated by the expert model are imposed to a node nearest to the drawbead position as a boundary condition, Finite element simulations show that the expert model provides the accurate solution, guarantees the stable convergence, and has the merit in the computation time.

가사경수형 원자로에서의 제논 영향으로 인한 축방향 출력진동 시간최적제어 (Time-Optimal Control of Xenon-Induced Axial Power Oscillations in Pressurized Water Reactor)

  • Time-optimal control for dmping a one-dimensional xenon-induced spatial power oscillations in pressurized water reactor is studied. Linearized system equations describing the spatial xenon oscillations have been derived based on lambda mode analysis. Optimal control strategies, eventually bang-bang controls, have been drawn applying Pontryagins Minimum Principle, subject to a band constraint on available contros strength. Validity of the linearized system equations and optimal control strategies derived has been demonstrated through conputer simulations which incorporate the finite difference method for one dimensional axial geometry, for the soulution of the two-group neutron diffusion equations. The results obtained through computer simulations show that xenon-induced transients can be suppressed successfully with bang-bang control.

고층건물에서의 연돌효과 시뮬레이션 (Simulation of the Stack Effect in High-Rise Builbings)

  • The objective of this study is to analyze and evaluate the impact of the stack effect in high-rise buildings for solving the various problems resulting from it. For the evaluation of the impact of the stack effect, computer program simulations based on the network model were performed for a typical high-rise office building. The results of the simulations show that the impact caused by the stack effect is mainly dependent on building envelope air-tightness and internal airflow resistance, so the problems due to the stack effect may be solved to some extent by installing vestibules around entrance doors and doors serving elevators, and by zoning the elevators.

  • The concrete median barriers are the most popular safety appurtenances that can be installed on narrow medians and are effective in keeping uncontrolled vehicles from crossing into opposing lanes of traffic. It is necessary to install and maintain median barriers because it is very difficult to reserve enough room required for medians in KOREA. And concrete median barriers are accepted as the actual alternatives for median barriers, mostly because they require almost no maintenance even after serious collisions. Typical concrete median barriers are 810mm high and have 596mm high glare screens on top of them. But we have experienced a number of “climb” and “roll-over” accidents of heavy vehicles until now, and most of all, there have been some serious accidents caused by the part of broken glare screens. We have performed many computer simulations for the evaluation of the crashworthiness of concrete median barriers, and through the simulations we have tried to find a proper type of concrete median barrier.

A Simple Dynamic Model and Transient Simulation of the Nuclear Power Reactor on Microcomputers

  • A simple dynamic model is developed for the transient simulation of the nuclear power reactor. The dynamic model includes the normalized neutron kinetics model with reactivity feedback effects and the core thermal-hydraulics model. The main objective of this paper demonstrates the capability of the developed dynamic model to simulate various important variables of interest for a nuclear power reactor transient. Some representative results of transient simulations show the expected trends in all cases, even though no available data for comparison. In this work transient simulations are performed on a microcomputer using the DESIRE/N96T continuous system simulation language which is applicable to nuclear power reactor transient analysis.
