  • In order to approach the nursing care of clients who are using oriental medicine and to understand the perception of the client who uses oriental medicine practices and the need to develop a model of nursing related to oriental medicine it is important to examine the major nursing concepts as they are found in oriental medicine and as they are differently defined according to the basic thought, theory and philosophical perspectives between East and West. Oriental medicine developed based on Sung Confucianism the teachings of Chut-zu, especially Tai-Chi-Tu Shuo and energy thought which are similar to traditional Korean Sasang Constitutional medicine. The basic theory on which oriental medicine is build is the theory of the five elements of Yin / Eum-Yang Theory(cosmic dual forces) and Meridian Theory. The most important attribute of Yin Yang is the concept of duality, confrontation and dependence, within Yin Yang but which do not exist separately. That is, the universe is a vast, indivisible entity within which all things exist in harmonious interdependence and balance. Harmony is achieved only when the two primorial forces, Yin and Yang, are brought into perfect balance. Each is contained within the other and there is a continuing interchange between the two. This also applies to the human body including human health which is defined as balanced harmony. The most universal connection of Yin and Yang is found in the universe where the five elements of life, fire, water, earth, wood and metal can be explained as having either Yin or Yang and therefore being in a state of connectedness but systematically circulating between the two, that is essentalilly one (the control of the unified ) or as coexistant poles of individual wholes (the pluralism of Yin Yang Theory) so that it is all unified(balanced) in the Great Absoulte. Human beings also maintain a balance of Yin and Yang in the five elements and this relationship is very important in approaching ·oriental medicine, The meridians are the channels in the body through which the life force flow throughout the body. In oriental medicine the meridians are seen as the railroad, the acupuncture points on the meridians as the stations and energy as the train. In the normal healthy organism, all are maintained in balance and in a contiuous circulation of energy. illness is the result of the energy flow becoming disarranged. Although practitioners of oriental medicine approach the client differently than do practitioners of Western medicine and their method of examining the patient is different, the basic objectives of the examination are the same for practitioners of both types of medicine. Therefore if each could be used to supplement the defiencies in the other and achieve a harmonious cooperation between the two, a higher level of care which is culturally appropriate to korean culture could be achieved. The traditional korean concept of health is a naturalistic view which emphasizes being in harmony with nature. Any manifestation of disease is considered a sign that the body is in a state of disequilibrium and is thus no longer in harmony with the universe. The wholistic view of the world held by practitioners of oriental medicine can be used by nursing in the development of a world view of nursing in which the human being is seen within the macrocosm as part of the natural phenomenon of the universe and but also as a microcosm of the universe, a universe which is a vast and indivisible entity within which all things exist in harmonious interdependence and balance. Interaction between human beings and their environment and the relationship of this interaction to health are concepts that are also found in nursing. Nursing views human brings, not as an accumulation of separate cells and organs but, as unified wholes interacted in very close relationship nth their environment. Nursing also maintains a view of human beings in which emphasis is placed on the role of the mind in explaining the concepts of harmony and balance in health. Although there are differences between oriental medicine and nursing in approaches to clients, the basic point of view and philosophy have many fundamental similarites. An understanding of the basic thought and philosophy of oriental medicine if applied to nursing, would allow for the development, not only of nursing related to oriental medicine, but of a nursing theory appropriate to the korean context.

  • Shumi-sen(須彌山), built by Nohjagong(路子工) in the southern garden of the Palace Garden during the Asuka Period, is understood as being Sumeru based on an Indian perspective of the theory of the origin of universe. It is also viewed as Mt. Myogoh from a Chinese Buddhist worldview. It is thought to be a type of assembled stone structure with Poong-ryoon (風輪)-Su-ryoon(水輪)-Geum-ryoon(金輪)-Ji-ryoon(地輪) carved into each of the 4 stone pieces. These building shapes are thought to have been utilized as stone for exterior construction as opposed to those structures built during the Shilla Period of China and Korea. Aside from Nohjagong's record of Shumi-sen, most of the records from Japan's period of the time suggest that Shumi-sen was an important element that played a role in the scenery of the seasonal outdoor gardens. It is also thought, from the sentences and expressions surrounding the records, that a combination of the seasonal sceneries was utilized centered on Shumi-sen, and that they were all used during festival events. From a perspective of analysis and interpretation dependent on the limited literature and on observation, it cannot be verified whether the Mt. Sumeru Stone(須彌山石) excavated from the Stone God Ruins is the same Shumi-sen that Nohjagong built along with Okyo(吳橋), but it is thought that the 'Shumi-sen type stone structure' that was later built repeatedly as part of the palace garden facilities is identical to the Shumi-sen built at the Imperial Palace's southern garden, or at least a re-built structure based on the Shumi-sen that Nohjagong built with stones and ponds used to create the foundation. Thus, Shumi-sen that Nohjagong supposedly built along with Okyo is suspected to be a figurative rock arrangement and, at the same time, a miniaturized scenic rock arrangement(縮景樹石) that maximized the shape of Buddhism's Shumi-sen. On the other hand, the surface pattern on Mt. Sumeru Stone is very similar to the multi -layers of mountainous pattern icons expressed in the patterns of the Great Golden Incense Burner(百濟金銅大香爐) or Mountain-Water Scenery Sculptural Brick(山水山景紋?) that were built during the Baekjae pcriod aod the rear side of Hwalsuk-jebul Basal Byungipsang(滑石諸佛菩薩竝立像); it is suspected that similar patterns would have been used if patterns were made on Shumi-sen that Nohjagong built. Also in consideration of the physical theory of MI. Sumeru Stone, the Siphon theory of using a pressure difference in water level was applied to the fountain facilities of Mt. Sumeru Stone that seemed to have been built from the practical rock arrangement perspective for the purpose of feasts, etc.

  • This study researched about gender color preference as basic data for color application of fashion shop Facade. A HUE TONE system from V(vivid) to DK(dark) was used based on 10 colors of the IRI-120 color chart, color preference according to gender was investigated through a survey on males and females of over teenage years, and it was analyzed and presented as a color matching chart. And it was suggested as a color guideline through comprehensive analysis. Few definitions can be given through the results of this study. First, the preference degree according to gender was similar but different senses were shown visually even though the same adjective expressive vocabulary of a color image was suggested. This means there is an unchanging basic conservative disposition that males and females do not have and therefore they infer different ideas according to various environments and factors. Second, females showed more sensitive response to colors than males in the gender color preference result, which confirmed the deviation of each color group that is characteristically preferred according to a category. Third, high preferred color matches according to gender were shown for each vocabulary in various senses such as similar color matching, complementary color matching, separation color matching, and accent color matching. A universal empirical theory by general sensibility was obtained as the purpose of this study. This study suggested securement of a color design planning as basic data and the extent of usability by quantitatively showing the order of priority through the survey and analysis. Thus, the results of this study will be a great help as basic data for invigoration and commercialization of a color planning for designers and users.

  • The aim of this study was to identify students' views on the orientation of science and to investigate the relationship between their views and decision-making on socio-scientific issues (SSI). In this study, 27 university students attending a science course were asked to discuss four controversial issues: the Toyota recall, the green car, the global warming and swine influenza (influenza A (H1N1)). The study was comprised of two stages. At the first stage, we examined students' views on the nature of science and on the orientation of science with the open-ended questionnaire based on VNOS and VOSTS. While they held relatively similar views on the nature of science, their views on the orientation of science were distinct as pragmatic, intrinsic, communal and ethical views. At the second stage, to examine the role of their views on the orientation of science in decision-making, we selected four students who had similar views on NOS but different views on the orientation of science. The four students were selected from each group of views on the orientation of science and their decision-making processes were analyzed following grounded theory. Across SSIs, they relied upon their views on the orientation of science as the strategies for decision, though considered different perception, and causal and contextual conditions. This study indicates that understanding students' views on the orientation of science would be helpful for achieving scientific literacy for informed decision.

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the names and locations of beauty-related high schools, and to examine the cources and subjects of beauty-related high schools according to types of high schools. Data were obtained from 8 beauty-related high schools, which consisted of 2 schools for each beauty-related high schools types and permitted the investigation of their curriculum. The findings of this study were as follows: First, These were about 30 beauty-related high schools that were mostly industrial high schools, located in Busan and Kyungsang Province, and almost used "Beauty" or "Aesthetics" as the name of department. Second, the rates of common and professional courses of business high schools and industrial high schools were similar to those suggested from the Ministry of Education and Human Resources. But for specialized high schools and integrated high schools, the rate of these courses were not in accord with those of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources. Third, The credit hour of special study in beauty-related high schools largest in hair care, followed by skin care and makeup courses. But nail and foot care were established only 2-3 beauty-related high schools. Fourth, The number of subjects of special study were largest in specialty high school. Industrial high schools offered the least number of subjects of special study. Fifth, as a result of making a comparative analysis of their subjects of special study, eight high schools offered hair care, skin care, public health and makeup courses, which had the same or similar titles. The independence titles were established nail care and foot care. The others titles were established actual training, food and nutrition, digital image processing, accounts theory, coordinatin.

  • Many teachers report familiarity with and adherence to reform ideas, but their actual teaching practices do not reflect a deep understanding of reform. Given the challenges in implementing reform, this study intended to explore the breakdown that may occur between teachers' adoption of reform objectives and their successful incorporation of reform ideals. To this end, this study compared and contrasted the classroom social norms and sociomathematical norms of two United States second-grade teachers who aspired to implement reform. This study is an exploratory, qualitative, comparative case study. This study uses the grounded theory methodology based on the constant comparative analysis for which the primary data sources were classroom video recordings and transcripts. The two classrooms established similar social norms including an open and permissive learning environment, stressing group cooperation, employing enjoyable activity formats for students, and orchestrating individual or small group session followed by whole group discussion. Despite these similar social participation structures, the two classes were remarkably different in terms of sociomathematical norms. In one class, the students were involved in mathematical processes by which being accurate or automatic was evaluated as a more important contribution to the classroom community than being insightful or creative. In the other class, the students were continually engaged in significant mathematical processes by which they could develop an appreciation of characteristically mathematical ways of thinking, communi-eating, arguing, proving, and valuing. It was apparent from this study that sociomathematical norms are an important construct reflecting the quality of students' mathematical engagement and anticipating their conceptual learning opportunities. A re-theorization of sociomathematical norms was offered so as to highlight the importance of this construct in the analysis of reform-oriented classrooms.

  • As the demand of employing various PC software on mobile embedded devices which have limited storages has been increased, software streaming services are needed. However it takes too much time to launch software on them because it is transferred through wireless networks. To address this problem, prefetch algorithms are needed. We examined 'Last successor (LS)' algorithm and PPM-based prefetch algorithm as prefetch algorithms for software streaming services. We present 'Probability-base Multi Successor (PMS)' algorithm which is contrived through analyzing evaluations of previous algorithms and characteristics of software streaming services. While LS has one successor per each block, PMS has N successors based on probability which is calculated by PPM-based prefetch algorithm. The hit rate of PMS is similar to that of PPM-base prefetch algorithm and the space overhead is similar to that of LS. We can get good efficiency at the point of memory usage when PMS is applied to software streaming services.

  • The text such as stories, blogs, chat, message and reviews have the overall emotional flow. It can be classified to the text having similar emotional flow if we compare the similarity between texts, and it can be used such as recommendations and opinion collection. In this paper, we extract emotion terms from the text sequentially and analysis emotion terms in the pleasantness-unpleasantness and activation dimension in order to identify the emotional flow of the text. To analyze the 'dominant emotion' which is the overall emotional flow in the text, we add the time dimension as sequential flow of the text, and analyze the emotional flow in three dimensional space: pleasantness-unpleasantness, activation and time. Also, we suggested that a classification method to compute similarity of the emotional flow in the text using the Euclidean distance in three dimensional space. With the proposed method, we analyze the dominant emotion in korean modern short stories and classify them to similar dominant emotion.

  • Objectives : This paper contemplates how the special features found in Moyuan as revealed in Wenyilun has continued from the Moyuan concepts of past includig Huangdineinjing. The author of this paper attempted to distinguish common and different points between the two, and how these features changed in the following generations. Methods : The concept of Moyuan as revealed in Huangdineinjing is first reviewed before laying out the concepts of Moyuan in Wenyilun by different categories. These two concepts are then compared. A Chinese medicine literature database is used in continuing this study, and materials are selected with relation to the special features of Moyuan. Results : The special feature of half-exterior half-interior found in the Moyuan in Wenyilun is similar with that in Neijing in that they both thought Moyuan existed between the stomach, the lungs, and the five organs. The concealability of Moyuan is similar with the explanation of Moyuan in Suwen nuelun, and it is related with the story of Gaohuang in Chunqiu Zuozhuan. Compared to the fact that the concept of Moyuan in Neijing is explained as that pathogenic factor enters the surface of the body in sequence, the concept of Moyuan in Wenyilun is conveyed in that the pathogenic factor conceals itself first before being divided into exterior and interior. Moyuan is also related to upright qi, and Gaohuang-yuan: origin of Gaohuang, too, is connected Shenjiandongqi: the energy that moves between the two kidnets, and also the triple burner. Conclusions : The concepts of "Half-exterior Half-interior", concealability, and "divide it into several places in half-exterior", and upright qi contained within the Moyuan in Wenyilun are studied for their origins, and this effort is anticipated to be greatly helpful in both understanding the historical contexts of Wuyouke Wenyilun and conducting studies on clinical application of Moyuan theory.

  • Using the CFD method, the pressure drop in 6 cyclone dust collectors of different shape were calculated. And the results were compared with results of the conventional theories. Equations of Shepherd and Lapple (1939, 1940), First (1950), Alexander (1949), Stairmand (1949), Barth (1956) were used in the theoretical calculation. In CFD calculations, we used standard k-epsilon model for analysis of turbulent flow, fluid is $25^{\circ}C$ air, the velocity at inlet is 10 m/s and the temperature is $25^{\circ}C$. In CFD analysis results, the pressure distributions along the flow showed similar patterns in different cyclone shapes. But the pressure drop distributions estimated on the conventional theories had big difference in different cyclone shapes. Only First's theory and CFD analysis showed similar results.
