  • This study introduces the new way for the evaluation criteria of the Mash-Seam Tailored Blank weldability, The materials used are low carbon automotive galvanized and high strength steels and the evaluation of weldability are examined with various thickness. Welding tests were conducted for both similar thickness and dissimilar thickness cases. The criteria developed for optimum welding conditions were based on the relationship among results of die press forming test, weld transverse tensile test, Erichsen test and microhardness measurements. The application of the developed criteria(fracture ratio, strength ratio, etc) in obtaining optimum welding condition revealed that a weld which satisfied ant of the criteria did not fracture during actual die press test.

  • Ceramic Injection Moulding (CIM) technology has been successfully used for the fabrication of Mn-Zn Ferrite part. The binder was composed by polypropylene and paraffin wax. The optimal powder loading (58% vol.) was determined by means of rheological measurements. Threedifferent parts, toroids, bending and tensile probes were injected. Thermal and solvent-thermal debinding was designed based on DSC and TGA studies of the binder. The time of the debinding cycle was reduced using n-heptane to dissolve previously the paraffin wax. Final properties have been determined and compared with uniaxial pressure parts values. The densities obtained were slightly higher than those of uniaxial pressure parts and the magnetic properties presented similar values.

  • We made a high-speed motor and a DC brush-less motor for factory automation (FA) to investigate applicability of powder magnetic core to motor application, and compared those performances with the similar motors having conventional electro magnetic steel core. Permeability and saturated magnetization of powder magnetic core are less than those of elect romagnetic steel core, however output performances of each core motor are almost the same. The FA motor with powder magnetic core using three-dimensional magnetic circuit showed higher torque than the same volume motor with electromag netic steel core.

  • 1. The oxidation resistance of $Y_{2}O_{3}$ containing Ni-base alloy is superior to that of the alloy without $Y_{2}O_{3}$. 2. The appearance of oxides of Ni-20Cr-20Fe-5Nb-$1Y_{2}O_{3}$ alloy is similar to that of oxides in commercial PM1000 and MA754 alloy. 3. The oxides in ODS alloy are grown mainly at particle boundaries.

  • The dynamics of the tertiary conformation of myoglobin (Mb) after photolysis of carbon monoxide was investigated at 283 K solution by probing amide I and II bands using femtosecond IR absorption spectroscopy. Time-resolved spectra in the amide region evolve with 6-12 ps time scale without noticeable subpicosecond dynamics. The spectra measured at 100 ps delay after photolysis is similar to the difference FTIR spectrum at equilibrium. Time-resolved spectra of photoexcited Mb evolve modestly and their amplitudes are less than 8% of those of photolyzed MbCO, indicating that thermal contribution to the spectral evolution in the amide region is negligible. These observations suggest that the conformational relaxation ensuing photolysis of MbCO be complex and the final deoxy protein conformation have been substantially formed by 100 ps, probably with 6- 12 ps time constant.

  • We have synthesized disc-like large silver nanomaterials that have nanostructured bumps on the surface using smaller nanoplate seeds. The size and shape of the bumpy nanostructures are rationally controlled by changing the concentrations of nanoplate seeds, silver ion, reductant, and citrate ion. Importantly, the synthetic mechanism of these bumpy nanostructures is remarkably similar to that of the conventional seed-mediated growth based on tiny seeds. We have further investigated the catalytic properties of the bumpy nanostructures for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol, which is associated with a concomitant color change from yellow to colorless.

  • Ti-13Nb-13Zr (TNZ) alloy has attracted considerable research attention in the last decade as a suitable substitute for the commercially used Ti-6Al-4V (TAV) alloy for orthopedic and dental implant applications. Hence, in the present work, a comparative evaluation has been performed on the electrochemical corrosion behavior of TNZ and TAV alloys in 0.9 wt.% NaCl solution. The result of the study showed that both the alloys had similar electrochemical behavior. The corrosion resistance of TAV alloy is found to be marginally superior to that of TNZ alloy.

  • Formaldehyde and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) from building materials have been known as main causes of IAQ problem in Newly-Constructed Multi-Family Houses. Because Multi-Family Houses are built in large quantities in a similar manner, inappropriate selection of building materials and method will detrimental affect IAQ. This research aims to identify major causes of Indoor Air Pollutants in Multi-Family Houses, by constructing Mock-Up & One-Room House. As a result, self leveling concrete, door, and furniture construction is a major cause of indoor formaldehyde increase, and tile bond is TVOC, and urethane water proof is Etylbenzene, and Xylene.

  • We propose a new reliable, fast, and low cost identification method for similarly looking 0.3ct vivid yellow color of natural, HPHT treated, and synthesized diamonds. Conventional optical microscopy as well as low temperature PL(photoluminescence), FT-IR, UV-VIS-NIR, micro-Raman spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometry(VSM) characterization were executed. We could not distinguish the natural diamonds from the treated or the synthesized stones with an optical microscopy, PL, FT-IR, and UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy. However, we could identify the treated diamond with micro-Raman spectroscopy due to unique $1440cm^{-1}$ peak appearance. VSM revealed easily the synthesized diamond because of its ferromagnetic behavior. Our preliminary propose on employing the Micro-Raman spectroscopy and VSM might be suitable for identification of the similar looking vivid yellow colored diamonds.

  • Amorphous carbon nitride (a-C:N) multilayerfilms are formed by using altermating conditions during film deposition in are ion plating process. Because hard a-C:N films prepared with suitable megative bias voltages have large compressive stress, it is difficult to increase film thickness more than 200nm. Preparing multilayer films composed of hard layers and soft layers, we can grow thick multilayer films on Si and SKH steel substrate. The total thickness of multilayer films is more than 1$\mu\textrm{m}$. The multilayer films are several times thicker than the single layer films and almost equal in hardness and internal stress to the single layer ones. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and Raman spectroscopy reveal that multilayer films equal to single layer films in structure, which is similar to the structure of DLC films.
