The Satkatbong pluton was studied with other plutons together, but some fundamental petrological characteristics were missing. This study mainly reports the petrography and geochemistry of the Satkatbong pluton comparing with the Daebo and the Bulguksa granitoids in south Korea. The Satkatbong pluton, which is host rock including a number of Mafic Magmatic Enclaves (MME), is north-south shaped dioritic pluton, located along the east coast of south Korea. The Satkatbong pluton seems to be unconformable with Cretaceous sedimentary rocks from fieldwork result. In geochemistry, the Satkatbong pluton, which is roughly similar with the Daebo granitoids, is classified into calc-alkali series rock and volcanic arc granitoid Tectonically. The fact that AlT value in marginal parts of amphiboles in the Satkatbong pluton is lower than other granitoids implies emplacement depth of the Satkatbong pluton was relatively shallow. The Satkatbong pluton shows different geochemical feature compared to the adjacent adakitic Yeongdeok granite. This seems to be caused by mafic mantle material expected from the occurrence of MMEs.
Mireuksa is a temple that was established in the Baekjea Period and continued around to the 16thcentury. The sites of the temple throughout diverse periods such as the United Shilla Period, KoryuPeriod, and Chosun Period including the one of the early temple in the late Baekjea Period were discovered. In those temple sites, there were lots of diverse artifacts discovered including artifacts in the Bronze Age. In this study, the compositions of four bronze bells excavated from Mireuksa site in Iksan were analyzed and the manufacturing technique of bronze bells was studied through the observation of microstructure. Also, the analytical cases of ancient bronze bells were collected and compared. Furthermore, the provenance study of the bronze bells site was attempted with the Pbisotope ratio. The results aim to offer crucial keys for discovering the aspect of society as well as information about the origin, development, and the route of propagation of ancient technologies. Bronze bell No. 1 showed an unexpected composition as Cu was found 98.5% in it. There were shown twins which were created by annealing and an even phase in the fine grains. It was also shown that bronze bell No. 2 and 4 had a high content of Pb although they showed a similar composition with general bronze bells in terms of Sn content. As shown in the analysis characteristics table of Korean bronze bell of this study, the ancient bronze bell used Pb of which content was limited to 2.12% in general, however, the results showed 15.5% and 13.2% respectively, which is an excessive amount. Asa result of analyzing inclusion in the microstructure of bronze bell No. 2, it was found that sulfide group mineral was used since there appeared S(14.55%). Also, it was proven that $CuFeS_2$ or$Cu_5FeS_4$ was used as a raw material because there was a small amount of Fe. As a result of analyzing inclusion of bronze bell No. 4, the bronze bell sample contained S(13.43%) and it is thought that sulfide group mineral was used, however, it had no Fe. Therefore, it is not connected to $CuFeS_2$ which is the main mineral of Korea. In addition, a strain line was shown with processing in bronze bell No. 2 and 4. As a result of provenance study of bronze bell No. 2 and 4 using the Pb isotope ratio, they or their raw materials are estimated to come from the southern China. Bronze bell No. 3 showed only Cu and Sn, and it is featured with a relatively low amount of Sn(6.63%). The microstructure has only phase, andintergranular corrosion was highly in progress.

In this study, we evaluated the antioxidant effects of Cordyceps, Ganoderma lucidum (Curtis) P. Karst and Phellinus linteus complexes. Three mushrooms were extracted using 70% ethanol, respectively, in ratios of 80:10:10(?). The electron-donating ability was measured using the DPPH radical mushroom complexes and showed effects of 66% in 500 ${\mu}g/ml$. ABTS radical cation decolorization measured 73% in 50 ${\mu}g/ml$ and had an effect similar to BHA in 500 ${\mu}g/ml$. In their superoxide anion radical scavenging ability, the mushroom complexes showed an effect of 41% in 10 ${\mu}g/ml$. The effect on the control of BHA was more than three times as high as BHA in 50 ${\mu}g/ml$ and 100 ${\mu}g/ml$ concentration. The results showed that lipid oxidation is an excellent inhibitor of lipid oxidation $Cu^{2+}$, compared to the $Fe^{2+}$ group. The results of superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in the mushroom complexes showed a low effect of 13% in 500 ${\mu}g/ml$. Thus, the results of this study showed that the antioxidant effect of the mushroom complexes was excellent, indicating their potential as an antioxidant material.
Thirteen near-isogenic lines (NILs) of japonica rice were developed via a backcross method using the recurrent parent Chucheong, which is of good eating quality but is susceptible to Magnaporthe grisea, and three blast resistant japonica donors, Seolak, Daeseong and Bongkwang. The agro-morphological traits of these NILs, such as heading date, culm length, and panicle length, were similar to those of Chucheong. In a genome-wide scan using 158 SSR markers, chromosome segments of Chucheong were identified in most polymorphic regions of the 13 NIL plants, and only a few chromosome segments were found to have been substituted by donor alleles. The genetic similarities of the 13 NILs to the recurrent parent Chucheong averaged 0.961, with a range of 0.932-0.984. Analysis of 13 major blast resistance (R) genes in these lines using specific DNA markers showed that each NIL appeared to contain some combination of the four R genes, Pib, Pii, Pik-m and Pita-2, with the first three genes being present in each line. Screening of nine M. grisea isolates revealed that one NIL M7 was resistant to all nine isolates; the remaining NILs were each resistant to between three and seven isolates, except for NIL M106, which was resistant to only two isolates. In a blast nursery experiment, all the NILs proved to be more resistant than Chucheong. These newly developed NILs have potential as commercial rice varieties because of their increased resistance to M. grisea combined with the desirable agronomic traits of Chucheong. They also provide material for studying the genetic basis of blast resistance.

In this study, the soil characteristics of peat layer in Korea were analysed to predict new peat distribution areas in Taean, Chungcheongnam-do. The soil characteristics of peat distribution areas in Taean were compared with those in other areas in Korea. In Korea, peat researches were conducted in various regions, such as Taean in Chungcheongnam-do, Pyeongtaek in Gyeonggi Province, Gangneung in Gangwon-do, Ulsan, Iksan in Jeollabuk-do and Jangheung in Jeollanam-do. We summarized a) topographic distribution, b) deposition type, c) soil drainage classes, and d) soil suborder of previously studied area to determine criteria for prediction of peat distribution area. Through a case study, the type of peat layer distribution area in Taean were divided into two; (1) a) valley, b) co-alluvium, c) somewhat poorly drained, d) aqualfs and (2) a) marine plain, b) alluvium, c) very poorly drained, d) aquepts. A field survey was conducted to confirm the distribution of the actual peat layer. All peat layer were located within 10-km from the coastal line which is similar to previous studies, and the peat layer was characterized with pH 5, humic acid content of less than 15% and dark brown color. The new peat layer in Taean was deeper, thicker and less humificated than other studied areas.

This study conducted to understand effects of CA (CaAl2O4) and CA2 (CaAl4O7) ratio on chloride binding ability and compressive strength and pore structure of cement mortar incorporating mixture of CA and CA2. The Portland cement based specimens were mixed with the clinkers CA and CA2, and these calcium aluminate clinker mixture were replaced 0, 5, 10% by weight of cement. After all the test specimens were cured for 28 days under water curing, they were immersed in the distilled water and NaCl solution. As a result, 28 days compressive strength of all specimens was similar, and As the replacement ratio of calcium aluminate clinker in the specimen increased, Friedel's salt production tended to increase. However, it was dependent on the amount of Al2O3 in the level of 5% replacement and CA ratio in the level of 10% replacement. Through equilibrium isotherm result, it was also indicated that as replacement ratio of calcium aluminate clinker in cement matrix increased, chloride binding capacity was improved, and chloride penetration was suppressed. In this study, the specimen replaced with 10% of the calcium aluminate clinker mixture (CA 39%, CA2 60%) was remarkable to control chloride attack. We figured out necessity to understand optimal CA/CA2 ratio to effectively apply CA2 as a sustainable building material by improving the chloride binding ability in Portland cement based system.

Quality properties of red ginseng prepared with different cultivation years of fresh ginseng produced in Punggi region were investigated. Fresh ginseng cultivated for 4, 5, or 6 years was steamed for 3.5 hr and dried for 24 hr at $60{\sim}65^{\circ}C$ and subsequently for $3{\sim}4$ days at $40^{\circ}C$ under commercial conditions. Compared to 6 years-old roots, the five years-old roots showed similar or some lower quality properties in terms of color, appearance, diameter, and inside quality, but higher ones in length and yield of prepared red ginseng. In particular, the levels of ginsenoside $Rg_3$ and $Rh_2$, which are known as specific components in red ginseng, were the highest in 5 years-old roots. The result shows that fresh ginseng of 5 years-old roots produced in Punggi region can be utilized as a raw material for the manufacture of high-quality red ginseng.

This study investigated the quality characteristics and biological activities, such as antioxidant, whitening, anti-diabetes, and anti-inflammatory activities, of yellow garlic, by simplify processing time and manufacturing process compared with black garlic. Extracts were prepared various ratios of water and ethanol solvent [water : ethanol (v/v)=100:0, 70:30, 50:50, 30:70, 0:100] from yellow garlic. Alliin content of yellow garlic showed no difference compared with fresh garlic, whereas S-allyl cysteine content of yellow garlic was higher than that of fresh garlic. Alliin content of yellow garlic extracts increased in an ethanol concentration-dependent manner. Total phenol and flavonoid contents were highest in 100% ethanol extract. DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging abilities did not show significant differences among 0~70% ethanol extracts, whereas 100% ethanol extract showed the highest contents of 93.45% and 91.46%, respectively. Tyrosinase and ${\alpha}$-glucosidase inhibitory activities were also highest in 100% ethanol extract, but did not show significant differences among the extract solvents. Water and ethanol extracts from yellow garlic showed anti-inflammatory effects by modulating production of NO and cytokines at a concentration of $100{\mu}g/mL$. We suggest that yellow garlic has antioxidant, whitening, anti-diabetes, and anti-inflammatory activities and can be used as a functional material similar to black garlic.
Geophysical investigation in non-destructive testing is economically less expensive than boring testing and providing geotechnical information over wide-area. But, it provides only limited geotechnical information, which is hardly used to the design. Accordingly, we performed electrical resistivity experiments on large scale of soil model to analyze the correlation between electrical resistivity response and soil water contents. The soils used in the experiments were the Jumunjin standard sand and weathered granite soil. Each soil particle size distribution and coefficient of uniformity of experimental material obtained in the experiments were maintained in a state of the homogeneous. The specifications of the model used in this study is $160{\times}100{\times}50$(cm) of acrylic, and each soil was maintained at the height 30 cm. The water content were measured using the 5TE sensors (water contents sensors) which is installed 7 ~ 8 cm apart vertically by plugging to floor. The results of the resistivity behavior pattern for Jumunjin standard sand was found to be sensitive to the water content, while the weathered granite soil was showing lower resistivity over the time, and there was no significant change in behavior pattern observed. So, it results that the Jumunjin standard sand's particle current conduction was better than the weathered granite soil's particle through contact with the distilled water. This lab test was also compared with the result of a test bed site composed of similar weathered soil. It was confirmed that these experiments were underlying research of non-destructive investigation techniques to improve the accuracy to estimate the geotechnical parameter.
This study was conducted to observe the difference in muscle activity by IASTM between a tool made of PLA made with a 3D printer and a tool made of ready-made stainless steel. This study was attended by 10 adults in their twenties, and all subjects participated in both the PLA group and the Stainless group, received IASTM. %MVIC was measured by measuring muscle activity after intervention, and this was verified through comparison between groups through the Mann-Whitney U test. The results of this study showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups in the %MVIC value of the biceps brachii after intervention. Therefore, in the application of IASTM, there was no difference in muscle activity depending on the material of the tool, which seems to be that the IASTM tool made of PLA made with a 3D printer produced similar results in the ability to control neuromuscular muscles and the ready-made product made of stainless steel. Therefore, in a future study, the effectiveness of the tool will be verified for the various patient group.
